  1. Aren't we going through growing pains with Bo right now? All those personal foul penalties he got his first year - he grew out of that, right? His craziness with the press is getting better, etc. Every coach goes through a curve. Some take longer than others. Maybe Watson never finds his path and can't escape his cycle of good/bad. Hard to say.
  2. You are correct, sir. All Martin's suspension does is cost us depth. He hasn't been starting. It'll make it harder, but it's still not impossible to overcome.
  3. I'm no Watson supporter. I haven't seen enough consistent evidence from this guy that proves he's the real deal. There have been plenty of stats posted in the past showing his sketchy record over the years. One thing I will say is this - and it's not binding or prophetic by any means, I'm just sayin' - a lot of the stuff being said about Watson now was being said about Charlie McBride in the late 80s and early 90s. People wanted Charlie's head on a platter. They wanted to run him out of town something FIERCE. Osborne was patient with him, let him learn from Florida State and Miami, and we ended the 90s with some ferociously good defenses. One other thing I'll say is, we used to pride ourselves on the longevity of the coaches on our staff. That can still be a good thing.
  4. Listen, the quote from the announcer was "He's a rugby-style kicker...blah, blah, blah." Not "He has a rugby kick in his arsenal," and not, "He's kicked like this before." They said that's what he does. That is where I'm coming from. There's no reason to get snotty with sd'sker over this. EDIT - further, anyone listening to the broadcast who thought these announcers truly understood the nuances of this Husker football team is dreaming. They were making stuff up as they went along, they made other stuff up (because they had NO idea Alex has punted this way before, guaranteed), and they made this up, too.
  5. "It feels real good, man," Green said. "Weird, man, but I can finally call myself a Husker. I'm proud."

  7. Sorry, have a hard time believing that. Watson is the offensive coordinator and no one in their right mind would simply put everything on any defense regardless of how good they were and hope that defense alone would win games. A lot of Watson defenders (in this thread anyway) and by all means I'm open to hearing both sides. That's what makes this place so interesting and keeps things going. As for me Watson needs to go and it's over due. I wish the best for our team, I want us to win every game we play and am not immune to the fact that even the best teams lose. In the end it's still Watson calling the individual plays and our record and offensive output against teams with halfway good defenses speaks for itself. That's all I need. If it helps, I'll throw my hat in that ring. I have no link, but this is what I heard, too. It was pretty commonly discussed this past offseason.
  8. i agree, but should 'bama be penalized for playing in an incredibly strong conference? Of course not. In a playoff system, neither Alabama nor Boise would be penalized.
  9. I can't believe I'm arguing FOR Boise St. Let's pretend for a minute that, for whatever reason, the Big 10 absolutely sucks in football for the next five years, while Bo puts together a fantastic team, offensively and defensively. In that scenario, should Nebraska be penalized for having a weak conference schedule?
  10. I don't believe I mentioned any names. But thanks for responding all the same.
  11. Since 10/23/10 Nebraska is undefeated. How's that for living in the now?
  12. Take one guess on who the happiest Husker fan was when Martin's suspension was announced.
  13. Torax3, Martin has stated that he was laughing about being tired from running, and having to go back out for kickoff coverage. You're welcome not to believe him, of course.
  14. And then that kid doesn't get suspended. I shouldn't even have to mention that the one against Martinez looked far dirtier and malicious. Oh, but Martinez got up and wasn't hurt. Must be O.K. then... Apparently you can do tons of bad things but as long as he isn't hurt and the refs give you a little slap on the wrist then everything is kosher. Got it, Big 12. And a tip of my cap to the Husker fans who called for Martin's head while completely ignoring that hit on Martinez. Stay classy, guys.
  15. First game was ugly. Texas wins 25-15. Huskers hit .000 for the game. On to game two.
  16. 10 things I hate about you... /runs out of room A pretty good adaptation of a Shakespearean classic, too.
  17. That's a good point, Army. I'm constantly telling trolls to stop painting Nebraska fans by the actions of a few.
  18. How ironic...a guy posting about class with the tag "IH8CU".... Anyways, since no one else has brought this up...what if E-Mart were white???? Blake Gideon, S for Texas, has been flagged multiple times this year for "targeting defenseless players", yet has not received a suspension. And for all of you calling him a "thug", that is absolutely ridiculous...I guarantee if Marlowe or Compton did something just like this, nobody would call them a thug... This has NOTHING to do with race. The only color that's important to this discussion is RED.
  19. I give it two days before Dan Beebe suspends Green. Just to be sure.
  20. Martin made about six hits like this last year. If this was "flagrant" then where were the suspensions last year? Again, this ONLY happens because we stand a chance at getting to the title game on our way out the door to the Big 10. No doubt in my mind.
  21. Bottom line is, if this wasn't discussed at the NFL level, if Nebraska wasn't leaving the Big 12, if we didn't have a chance at the Big 12 title, none of this happens.
  22. Advance to the 1:35 mark. The hit is in the lower right quad of the screen. Head hunting - clear as a bell. Cheap, dirty shot... and then laughing on the sideline. Thug play. Kinda like Weatherspoon punching Helu last year? I believe he punched McNeill, but yeah, kinda like that. I don't seem to recall the Tigers fans complaining about that play after the game. Then again, I don't seem to recall any Tiger fans visiting the board for a month after our game.
  23. He led with his shoulder. It is impossible NOT to have helmet-to-helmet contact when you use your shoulder to hit the upper body of an opponent. The rule states that you cannot "use the crown of your helmet." He didn't. He used his shoulder. This is the Big XII protecting the sanctity of their Conference Championship Game. Spin it any way you like, but if this was your player, you'd be saying the same thing we're saying.
