  1. Moving to Recruiting in five minutes...
  2. Turf toe. Bothered him all year. Here's one article that mentions it.
  3. Again, let's not forget that Moore played a portion of last year injured. I'm not saying you guys are wrong, I'm just saying Stein isn't a lock for the spot.
  4. I have very high hopes for Cam Meredith. I was impressed with him in limited action this year. With full season under his belt, I expect a leap forward. Ankrah will keep Meredith honest if Meredith has any inclination to slack off. Anytime you have three guys vying for two spots, competition shouldn't be a problem. I expect whomever wins those starting RE spots to be fierce this year.
  5. Link? The thread discussing it never reached a conclusion, and I haven't seen anything about it on the major sites since then. Steinkuhler to remain on D Line Also in that article they discuss Cole Pensick heading from the DL to Center.
  6. I think Griffin barely scratches the surface of the teams he covers. I think his knowledge is generally less than that of a more-informed-than-average college football fan. How he got that gig is beyond me. If I got paid to cover college football, you can bet I'd have WAY more insight into the teams I cover than he provides. Be that as it may, I think Moore has as good a chance to start as anyone else. He was slowed by injury (turf toe) in 2009, remember. This time last year Moore and Crick were neck-and-neck for the spot aside Suh. When Suh was "injured" during the Oklahoma game, Moore went in for one play. The Sooners ran right at him... and he stonewalled the play. Moore seems like no slouch, but I think competition between Moore and Steinkuhler will be fierce. There are worse things than to have two guys in close competition for a starting spot.
  7. I thought the google ad was good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auLJ6w80XRg I liked the Letterman/Oprah/Leno commercial just because I didn't think they'd get together after all the rancor lately: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcEx767TIas
  8. You're So Vain - Carly Simon There are a raft of songs like this from the 70s. As a survivor of that decade of dreadfully tasteless pop/disco music, I have a number of these songs that I could bring up. This was the first that popped into my head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC0EsLCPsF4
  9. It could be the fact that you've only been a registered user for a couple of months, while most of the folks nominated have been around for a year or more.
  10. Just curious.. Who are you expecting to "play" against? You're not gonna surprise us with secret games against other teams' bbs sites are you? Haven't got the schedule totally lined up yet, but I'm still working on the exhibition at halftime of the Spring Game. You'll have to pledge that you're Drug Free, though.
  11. Not really sure what I would do with someone on my roster who can't play. Let's just limit it to active members only.
  12. I've got the Huskers in my blood - does that count?
  13. It's too bad to see a guy's body give out on him. The heart is there.... it's the rest of him that's having trouble. Thanks for all you've done for us, Jacob. It's been a pleasure having you on the team. Good luck in your future endeavors.
  14. New Voting Threads are up: Kick Returner Voting Thread Punt Returner Voting Thread New Nomination threads are up: Gunner Nomination Thread Water Boy Nomination Thread
  15. Water Boy: 1) Willingness to Serve – The Water Boy is a key contributor and he must be willing to give his all to the team. HuskerBoard’s Water Boy should contribute more than just posts in the forums, whether that contribution is helping out in the Recruiting forums, finding interesting articles, or chipping in on the daily conversations. Even finding errors on the site, while not so glamorous, help HuskerBoard to be a better place for all. 2) Refreshing – The Water Boy keeps the troops on the field fresh with plenty of cool, refreshing fluids when the game heats up. HuskerBoard’s Water Boy is a guy who adds fresh perspective to the thread, or who brings out that key point that may have been missed so far in the conversation. 3) Unsung Hero – Dehydrated players are bad players. The Water Boy keeps them up and running, but often gets overlooked in the process. HuskerBoard’s Water Boy should be one of those guys whose contributions, while worthwhile, somehow leave him out of the limelight. This is our chance to say “thanks” for all of their work that may seem to go unnoticed. Please nominate or second ONE person per thread.
  16. Gunner: 1) Insane - Have you ever seen these idiots play football? They run as fast as they possibly can down the field in order to run into an oncoming wedge/defender head on! But, busting up a wedge to allow another player to make the tackle on the returner is very important. This poster probably has some weird and wild ideas, but still get the job done. Eric Martin is just the most recent example of this position, but Brandon Rigoni may be the best. 2) Speedy - Once the ball is in the air, the defensive special teamers need to get to the ball as fast as possible to either make the tackle or down a punt close to the opposing goal-line. There's nothing that frustrates a coach more than giving the other team 20 free yards! We need someone who is a speed poster and has the body control and ability to down the ball inside the 10! 3) Young - Coaches love to use true freshmen on special teams. Normally they don't want their skill players getting hurt on a kick/punt coverage or returning. I think this position should be filled by a "rookie" of HuskerBoard - maybe someone who has only been here for 3 months or less...longer if we can't think of anyone. Please nominate or second ONE person per thread.
  17. Punt Returner: 1) Fair Catch ability - If the PR knows he's going to get drilled if he tries a runback, he needs to wave the arm, concentrate on the ball, and make the fair catch. This poster should always think about the best way to approach a question and to give the best answer as to not bring on extra attack from others (and a spear tackle from a gunner)! 2) Makes the first guy miss - The most important move for the PR is making that quick sidestep to the left or right to get the first man in to commit to a poor tackle (like Niles Paul's return against Colorado this year). Once this is accomplished, the PR can follow his blocks and use his cutting ability to score the TD. To me, this guy is really a sneaky member! He'll give you enough of a comment to reel you into arguing with him, and then, BAM! You've just missed the point completely, and the poster looks like a fantasy genius with his reply to your opposing viewpoint! 3) Shifty - Can change directions on a dime, makes people miss. Look no further than Johnny Rodgers' electrifying return in the Game of the Century for the ideal of this trait. Rodgers dipped, dived and dashed his way through the heart of the Sooner coverage team en route to maybe the most important TD in Nebraska history. 4) Lightning-quick speed and reaction time, young, smart, able to make an opening for himself where one doesn't exist.
  18. Kick Returner: 1) RB wanna-be - When no opening is created, a Kick Returner normally tries to plow through the opposing special team members head on to try to gain some extra yards. Therefore, the ideal HuskerBoard KR has Running Back capabilities. You might want to consult the description of RB (not afraid to take hits, consistent, competitive, reliable) in order to best make a nomination/vote. 2) High top speed – Josh Davis was the prototypical KR. He could run straight from his own goal line and reach a very high speed by the time he got to the 20. By this time, the defense has hit the wedge and he could either find the seam to take it to the house or blast through the best hole he could find to get some yardage. A poster who really gets on a roll with their posts and can find that bit of extra info that someone opened up for him would be a great KR. 3) Dangerous - He may not be on the field a lot, but when he is, look out! A threat to take it all the way.
