  1. How much heat is Watson under? Is he under enough heat that he knows, or thinks he knows, that he's out of here after the season? I know Watson spearheaded the recruiting of Tyler Gabbert. Who recruited Curtis Carter? If it was Watson, or a Watson protege, I think we may be getting our signals that there's change in the air.
  2. Gerhart's stats aren't superlative, though. He hasn't done anything that Ryan Matthews or Donald Buckram haven't done.
  3. Thanks, Poncho. I've never seen that before.
  4. Yep. That's the sad reality. Suh deserves it, but won't get it. C'est la vie.
  5. I just don't see how people look at McCoy's interviews, including the one linked to in this thread, and have a gripe against the guy. He's a nice guy, he seems a little hokie and has that "aw shucks" way about him, but I like what I see. I'd love to have that guy on my team.
  6. I forgot about the Walter Camp award! Suh is a finalist for that as well. The awards ceremony is next Wednesday, 12/16 in New Haven, CT. I wonder if Suh's old buddy Pat Witt will show him around campus?
  7. I CAN"T Effing wait! I wouldn't be so anxious if I were a Longhorn fan. You're reception might not be so hospitible as in years past. Bo will show no mercy. Unless Texas finds an offensive line next year, expect utter carnage. They lose three guys this year: Hall (Center), Tanner (L Guard), and Ulatoski (L Tackle). Snow (Center) replaces Hall, and he'll be a JR. Poehlmann was Ulatoski's backup at left tackle in the CCG, and he'll likely get the job next year. He'll be a Sophomore next year. I'll put a line of Allen, Steinkuhler, Crick and Meredith up against these guys any day. Back that up with Fisher, Compton and Martin, and you've got a front seven that Texas has no answer for - or at least, not one that they've shown an ability this year to have an answer for.
  8. True, but when our offense is in max-protect mode, they make that task pretty tough. Not even Texas was able to capitalize on that plan, and they had everything in the world to play for.
  9. "When you're a Jet, You're a Jet all the way. From your first cigarette. To your last dyin' day." This is clearly taken from Zac's audition for West Side Story.
  10. There are 34 bowl games this year. Here are the rankings and thoughts about our game from some pundits across the land: Looks like people are reasonably interested. Top third of the bowls isn't a bad place to be, interest-wise.
  11. Well, it's a good thing he didn't transfer, huh?
  12. While that's a nice sentiment, you've been around Husker fans long enough to know you're wasting your breath. When's the last time you heard a reference to the Penn State out of bounds catch? When's the last time you heard a reference to the FSU goal-line fumble? I've heard both in the past week. People never forget this stuff.
  13. I must have missed McCoy's horrible anti-Nebraska comments after the game. I've always had a lot of respect for McCoy and for Mack Brown. And for Tebow, since you brought him up. However, I think you need to take a step back from your reactionary All-Things-Texas defense mechanism. I've read your posts in several threads here on HuskerBoard, and while I understand why you're defending your team, you have to understand why Husker fans are upset, and let them have their time to vent. Funny thing is, we lost a game because the officials didn't follow the rules of the game. That's a pretty hard pill to swallow. However, Texas lost their shot at a conference championship and a MNC last year because they simply didn't get it done on the field. Kindly remember back to this time last year, and all the shenanigans going on in Longhorn Nation over Oklahoma's trip to the CCG. Remember the asterisk? Remember the meltdowns on the message boards? Remember Mack's constant griping on every TV & radio station that would give him air time, weeks after the fact? If you do, and you have any integrity, you have to ask yourself - Am I really in a position to point fingers?
  14. He's actually quite nice-looking and charming in person. Maybe it's a trick of the TV, like it adds 20 lbs, that kind of thing?
  15. Why would there have to be a scapegoat? That presupposes that the offense will continue to be bad under different leadership, and that's not necessarily the case. I can't believe that leadership is the whole problem. It's way beyond just leadership, or just Watson, or just... whatever. It's a combination of things. All I know is, we have a real opportunity next season. The schedule is set up, the players are there, and the fans are ready. One thing to remember - there's nothing as horrible as unrealized expectations. It did Solich in. It did Callahan in. The honeymoon with Bo could be over if we have another season on offense like this. Do we really want to go through all that again?
  16. Don't compare our players to the 90s teams, then. Compare our players to UConn. Compare our players to Kentucky. Compare our players to Illinois. All of these teams are near us in SOS and near us or way higher than us in scoring offense. But we should have better players than these guys, right? And our coaches should be as good or better than these guys, right? The problem is, we're not seeing the results we should be seeing for the profile of team we have and the quality of coaches we should be able to get. Yes, Watson did great last year. His offense was in the top 15 in scoring. But we can't have such tremendous swings in production like this. We can't have years where we can barely move the ball. We can't.
  17. Considering the fact that they could score a safety and really put our offense in a bind, I'd say that's fair so far.
  18. Sorry I'm coming back to this conversation two hours later. I just scooped the drive, and while doing so I parked my car in the street, got it high-centered and had to dicker around with it for 20 minutes do dig it out. It's great living on a hill, especially when your neighbor parked his car downhill from yours so you can't just drive forward out of the snow. Back to the conversation.... One key point I didn't make before that I probably should have made - "Opening up the offense" doesn't necessarily mean passing a lot more. If I knew that's what that meant when we were talking before I would have been more clear. Opening up the offense could mean anything from the Wildcat to the Option to a true short-passing-game West Coast offense. We could rack up 300 yards per game and never throw the ball, as we all know. So that's why I had the disconnect between "opening up the offense" and "more turnovers." Anyway, just wanted to clear that up. I'm tired and it's past beer thirty.
  19. That right there pisses me right off. Only an offensive player can be the "most outstanding"? Am I reading this wrong or something? I'm pretty sure he's saying that facetiously, mocking the reason Suh won't win. He voted Suh #1 on his ballot.
  20. USC, Oregon and Oregon State are no slouches, and they went 2-1 against that group.
