  1. Looks like they found their witch. Again, not saying what Mangino did was OK. I wouldn't want someone doing that to my kid. But coaches use tactics that are "bullying" all the time, from Middle School to the Pros. These kinds of things aren't new, and they've gone on at Kansas before Mangino ever showed up on campus. See that record you had this year, Lew? Get used to it.
  2. Hey - Mangino is out! Did you guys hear? Oh.... wait...
  3. Who says Missouri's SOS is higher than OU's? Sagarin has OU's at 30 and MU's at 46 (Nebraska's is 62). Sadly, we don't get to play us so we don't get that bump. Sagarin also has OU ranked ahead of Nebraska (23rd vs our 25th), so take that for what it's worth...
  4. We've only got a few more weeks, and then it's over. Mercifully.
  5. Seems like they're just tossing names out randomly.
  6. When Mangino threatened to burn Kipp's other hand due to a missed tackle probably does qualify as such. Haven't you ever had a boss that "threatened" you this way? Or a coach? This kind of motivational stuff isn't new. And players get injured all the time in practice, and coaches get pissed about it.
  7. This is not to throw Allen under the bus, but neither he nor Turner have "wowed" me this year. I'm very happy to see Meredith getting more snaps. The dude plays like our Rush Ends of old. Consider this - Meredith has played in all 12 games, but started none. He has 12 solo tackles in spot duty. Allen has started all 12 games and has 16 solo tackles. Turner has 21 solo. That's not that impressive from a D Line that was supposed to be a four-man wrecking crew. It's been a two-man crew with two placeholders far too often. Maybe Allen and Turner have simply been asked to contain the End this year and haven't been allowed to rush upfield. I don't know. But if that's not the case, and Allen and Turner are just having trouble beating the Tackles they're playing against... Allen is going to have a hard time fighting off competition next year. Seven of our twelve DEs on the roster are Freshmen or Redshirt Freshmen. We've got two more DEs coming in the 2010 recruiting class. There's definitely a youth movement afoot. Let's hope Allen can beat these guys out.
  8. I looked up Nebraska's eight conference games. In those games our opponents attempted 308 passes. They were called for holding 11 times. Nebraska attempted 197 passes and were called for holding 10 times. To be sure, that's not enough holding calls on our opponents. I could see how we could be called for holding so much despite 100 fewer attempts because our line isn't very good, but to only be able to find 11 holds on 308 attempts? Absurd.
  9. All that sunshine you're pumping about the Raiders can be shot to pieces with two words: Al Davis is a complete and utter goofball. Two words... give or take.
  10. The Fat Lady is officially singing. We've pushed the advantage to +10,000 now. Since Suh was put back on the ballot last Monday (nine days ago), he's gotten 41,700 votes compared to Spiller's 14,700. You did this. Good job, everyone.
  11. Ehhh, is that really worse than playing a kid with a concussion, though? Is it worse than making a kid run a mile in full pads with no water? Is it worse than any number of a dozen other things these guys do to these kids? It's bad, don't get me wrong, but if THIS is why they fire Mangino... it's still not enough to make this look like it's not a witch hunt.
  12. Well, that might be enough to get him fired. We'll see.
  13. I get what you're saying. Perhaps a better way to read the article is to see it as venting for a season's worth of non-calls, especially when many of the holds were so blatant. But again, to be fair, I saw holding in every Big XII game I watched this year, and it wasn't called more than it was called.
  14. knapplc i like your nit-picking ability You have very good attention to detail But seriously, you have to think the coaches considered him. I wonder why did he didn't win the job. Thanks, man. It's all in fun. Regarding Amukamara returning punts... good question. Not sure why he didn't get the job. Paul has (finally) started showing a good ROI, but his early season work was sometimes painful to watch.
  15. The Walter Camp Foundation announced their five finalists for the Walter Camp Football Foundation 2009 Player of the Year award today. The lineup includes the typical suspects of Colt McCoy, Tim Tebow, Mark Ingram and Case Keenum, and one defensive player, Mr. Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska. Congratulations, Ndamukong. Yet another feather in your cap. LINK
  16. I agree, and I was the one who posted the stat that Texas Tech and Oklahoma had combined for like 93 pass attempts against Nebraska this year and there wasn't a single holding call. One would think that, with that many pass attempts, there could be at least one holding call made, but there wasn't. Not one. That is astounding. Buffs - is it whining in the face of the bold part of my post? Really?
  17. Every D Line from every Big XII school has been held without calls this year. It's happening all over the conference, not just against Nebraska.
  18. Amukamara is not returning punts. You'd like to see Amukamara return punts. You may want to rethink your title.
  19. Lew Perkins announced two weeks ago that there was an ongoing investigation into unspecified allegations against Kansas Coach Mark Mangino. Since then we've heard... nothing – at least, we've heard nothing from Lew Perkins. We have, however, heard from several other teams across the country, notably Louisville, Virginia and Notre Dame, all of whom fired their coaches within the last several days. Kansas now has two problems. 1) If they fire Mangino they've put themselves behind three other schools who are already looking for a coach. All three are arguably better situations for a coach than Kansas, which is and always will be a basketball school first. 2) Since they have delayed any action on this "investigation" this long, they've run themselves into a pickle with recruiting. Mangino isn't out there on the recruiting trail, but his assistants are. It's a weird situation, and word is it's hurting recruiting. If they want to can Mangino and are looking for "dirt" to save themselves the cost of his buyout, they've either got nothing or they've got so little it's worth nothing. If they've got something or they think they do, they're better off firing Mangino right now. The fact that they haven't done anything yet makes me think they're not going to fire him. But if that's true, the Jayhawks are really screwing the pooch by letting this thing drag on. The longer it takes to make a decision, the more I think they're going to keep Mangino on, at least one more year.
  20. I don't know about any "bias" towards or against any particular team. I know the officiating has been horrible across the board in the Big XII this year. I can't tell you how many times I've watched other teams playing (not the Huskers) and how many holds I've seen go uncalled. It's an epidemic, and it's not just against the Huskers. It seems like the Big XII has made a decision to allow offenses to keep scoring, and to let the lines protect the QB any way they can.
  21. +9,400 right now. And the Tigers fans are claiming their votes aren't being counted on TigerNet. I showed them that they were, but no response yet. Since Suh and Spiller were both included on the poll Monday, Suh has gotten votes at a 3:1 ratio, 2,725 to 907. By the way - if we're using macros or a bot to artificially pump up Suh's votes, it's the worst bot of all time. It's only pimping about 50 votes per hour since Monday.
