  1. That's what we thought when Texas Tech came to town, and look what happened. We have no idea week to week which team will show up. Each game is like opening Christmas presents.... only sometimes, it's a lump of coal.
  2. Special Teams player of the year - Brandon Banks, K-State. Henery had to be close to the top here. Not sure how he couldn't be.
  3. I think O'Hanlon has a strong case for the secondary, at least second team, and I can't imagine how you leave Crick off second team. EDIT - O'Hanlon is second in the conference in INTs. Paul is second in PR yards. Amukamara is 4th (tied) for Passes Defensed.
  4. Yep, you've got more than one good WR. Odds are that the Longhorns are going to find success against us. But we're going to make you work for it, we hope, and maybe even make a game of it. Texas needs to not overlook the Huskers. We can be beaten, but you'd better come to play.
  5. Had we beaten ISU I'll bet Bo would have gotten serious consideration for COY. I wonder how the coaches ranked this year....?
  6. Yeah, I'm not going to be shedding any tears that Danario Alexander graduates this year. All the talk about "He beat out Maclin before he got injured" seemed like so much hype to me... until we played him. He really hit his stride after our game (and once Gabbert got healthy again), and I'm not going to miss him. Good luck in the NFL, Danario. Happy trails.
  7. I don't think Peter would make a good coach. At least, nothing I heard on the radio made me think he would. But as a radio personality, he's excellent. He already mentioned he'd be doing a radio show in Texas. Maybe he'll come back up to Nebraska's airwaves in the future. I'd listen to him again.
  8. As if there could be any doubt. Mr. Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska. Congratulations, big man. Hope it's just one of many awards rolling your way soon. LINK
  9. Yep. I learned that a long time ago. There's a lot of politicking going on with all of these awards, and they're usually given to the wrong guy. It's nice to have someone outside your fan base recognize your players for their work, but it's not necessary to win awards to "prove" that they're good. If Henery never wins an award it won't change how we feel about him, and it shouldn't.
  10. +6,600 now. Suh may not get invited to New York, but it won't be because we're not backing him.
  11. Yeah, this may not be the best tactic to use as a Husker fan. We have no room to criticize other teams when it comes to players' criminal behavior.
  12. I'm really sad to see The Spread go. Peter was gold despite his raw style. And a giant facepalm at the guy who hates JP so much he puts him in his sig. Seriously - how pathetic is that?
  13. So I get home, turn on the TV, and ESPN is sitting there with Mike & Mike and a couple of stiffs, with one of the stiffs saying that Stoops going to Notre Dame is a big topic... in the NFL (which apparently is his beat). I know they've got to keep my eyeballs glued to their channel 24/7, but this is kind of ridiculous, especially in the face of yet another article: Regarding ESPN and especially Mike Golic, I don't see how he's even remotely objective. Not only is he a Notre Dame alum, but his son Mike Golic Jr. is currently a Sophomore and was recruited by Weis.
  14. As twisted as this, I think you are making a joke in regard to purposely hurting another player. If this happened They would lose Shipley but Asante would absolutely get tossed. Asante for Shipley... I would take that! Yep. I'd sacrifice a Knight for a Queen any day. Of course I'm not advocating hurting anyone.
  15. Are you kidding me.... because the 8th ranked team is so much better than the 9th ranked team.....especailly with biased rankings towards the SEC teams, for example youd be perfectly fine if Nebraska was ranked 9th behind 3 SEC teams....you would honestly say they dont deserve to be in the playoff especially if they were 10-2 losing in a conference championship game..... Ill call bullsh#t on that one. You're missing the point. What he's saying, and correctly saying, is that the argument for the #9 team getting "screwed" by the #8 team is weaker than the argument for the #3 team getting screwed by the #2 team. And it's a rock-solid argument.
  16. Those were two decent Notre Dame teams, but they were playing with upperclassmen recruited by Willingham, if I'm not mistaken.
  17. +5,200 Keep up the voting, folks. If they pull Suh off the ballot for some reason, we need as much of a cushion as possible.
  18. Just posted this in the Weis thread, should have posted it here.... Stoops is staying at Oklahoma. No surprise there... LINK

  20. I watch most bowls, too, but you and I aren't why they're afraid of a playoff. We'll watch football (especially college football) any time, all the time. I've been watching the Sun Belt teams on Tuesday nights whenever they've been on - I think Tuesday Night Football is the greatest invention since Wednesday Night Football. And Friday Night Football. And Thursday Night Football. But I digress. What they're trying to do with all these stupid bowl games is catch the eye of all the bandwagon fans of all these marginal teams that come and go every year. They're afraid that if we implement a 16-team playoff, everyone will focus on those and forget about the Poulan Weed Eater Bowl, or the Eagle Bank bowl, or the Humanitarian bowl, or whatever else they're calling these things these days.
  21. NO!!! Keep West away from Shipley! Most likely it'll be Gomes, or Amukamara, but the reality is that neither guy can cover him. We're going to need everyone's head on a swivel, ready to give help at any time.
  22. That just plain makes too much sense, that's why. Of course, the top-tier teams would go to the playoff, diminishing the gravitas of the remaining bowl games. Or, if they had eight teams in the playoff and the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta and Orange bowls were the "first round," that would also diminish their impact (the belief goes) because they wouldn't decide anything - there would still be two layers of games after the big bowls. To my way of thinking, that makes all four of the big bowls more watchable. At this point I don't give a hoot who Cincy plays, because their game is, no matter what, being played for fifth place. Or seventh. Whatever. But if I know that Cincy has a shot at moving on to the the next round, and possibly a National Championship, all four big bowls become must-see TV, because all eight teams playing have a shot.
  23. I think it is possible because of the point gap difference between #1 and #2 over #4 and so forth. If the SEC Title game is tight as hell I think it is very possible that the computers could still create the rematch something that supposedly humans cannot overcome. It's possible, but if it looked likely I'm sure several human voters would gig the SEC loser enough to assure it didn't happen. If it did happen, the howls of rage across the country would be deafening. No matter how arrogant the voters and/or bowl proponents are, they have to realize there's enough public sentiment in favor of a playoff that they need to avoid an SEC rematch scenario, if for no other reason than self-preservation. There has never been a bigger groundswell in support of a playoff than there is now. Of course, as a supporter of a playoff, I most certainly am in favor of a FL/AL rematch in the event of a Husker Championship.
  24. They're going to have to throw OODLES of cash at Stoops to get him away from Oklahoma. Stoops has a stable full of talent at OU, while Notre Dame is barely two deep anywhere. Clausen and Tate are likely to follow Weis out the door, so walking into the job the new coach is looking at a two-year rebuilding project, minimum. I would bet they've got a verbal from Kelly right now or they wouldn't have fired Weis. If not, we could be looking at another Steve Pederson coaching search, and they'll end up with someone like Dick Jauron.
