  1. That's why I said I wasn't sure where you were going with that. Sorry for the confusion.
  2. I'm like the only Nebraskan who doesn't like Runzas. Mom made them when I was a kid, and they were really good (I've been told), but I never liked them. Runza Hut runzas are, apparently, pretty good. But they're not for me. I voted for the Hot Dog guy. Those are some darned good dogs.
  3. I do not believe Colorado will beat us this year.
  4. I focused on Peter because this was a thread about a Wikipdeia page for Christian Peter not the choir boys that played for TO. I didn’t bring up Larry Phillips I think you did. Also how is bringing up their wrong doings wallowing in the mire? Well, you just go right ahead and knock yourself out talking about all those dozen or two dozen bad kids we've had over the past couple of decades. I'm impressed with your knowledge of the subject matter. Thanks for being such a great fan of the team that you refuse to let other fans go a moment without remembering that we've had some pretty scummy guys wearing our jersey over the years. And no, this wasn't a thread about the "good kids." Funny enough, I don't see those threads posted here. You could start one, but instead you choose to post here, and rather than make oblique references to the very real issues we all know about, you made a point in describing them. In detail. Good job. Thank goodness for people like you. Those windmills need to be tilted at, and you're just the man to do it. Without you, we'd all think that no kid has ever committed a crime while in our program. Thanks for keeping those ideas and ideals alive, NE. How? This ring a bell? "As far as Florida and Penn State go, did any of their players drag a girl down 3 flights of stairs by her hair? Did any of their players rap a girl twice on back to back days, then turn around and fondle another girl at a bar? Were two of their players “involved” in a drive-by at a gas station? Was one of their starting LB’s arrested twice in a year span for driving while intoxicated and fleeing from the police?" Not content with simply referring to these guys, you felt the need to describe each situation, in detail, despite the fact that they all happened over a dozen years ago. Why? Are you laboring under some delusion that people don't know about these crimes? Who doesn't know this stuff? But what really gets me is your statement a "rap" was committed by Christian Peter. I'm willing to believe this girl, but fair is fair - he was never convicted. The only account we have of those incidents was from the girl, and her first recounting of the situation was two years after it happened. Allegedly happened, technically. Again, I'm willing to believe here - Christian wasn't a sympathetic character - but someone who so desperately insists on realism should have the integrity to describe it in terms of "allegations," not "facts." The fact that you chose to portray it the way you did speaks volumes about where you're coming from. Where is your integrity? I think we've seen what you're focusing on. Me, I'll focus on the entirety of the game, or the person, or the program. When issues come up they should be discussed, not sugar-coated, but discussed rationally and realistically. Focusing solely on one side, as you're doing, paints an unrealistic picture. I've been more than happy to discuss the good things Callahan did here. I've attended Football 101 with my wife, a cancer survivor, and I'm grateful that Callahan held such fundraisers. Just curious, but at what point in this thread have you balanced your comments with the "good things?"
  5. Rob, duly noted, but what concerns me is when self-professed fans are the ones wielding those problems like a club, bashing other fans over the head with them. No one advocates sweeping these very real issues from our past under the rug. They happened, and it is to be hoped that the school and we as fans learned something from them. But it's been over a decade. And here we are, hashing over the same crap yet again. Enough already. I'm not interested in talking about this when I'm 40. Or 50. Or 60. Enough.
  6. So how long, exactly, do you plan on wallowing in the mire of those issues? And why do you focus on Peter and Phillips, when we were producing some really fine guys at the same time, both personally and academically? You can harp all you want about "hypocrisy" amongst Husker fans, but the bottom line is, the VAST majority of kids who came out of our program in the 1990s were the kind of guys I'd let my daughter date. You're welcome to focus on the negatives of Phillips and Peter and ignore the good kids. That's your choice. Me - I'll look at the program as a whole, and the entirety of Osborne's career both on and off the field, and realize that while there were some pretty heinous things done by kids wearing our jerseys, BY FAR the guys who went through our program were solid, upstanding citizens worthy of admiration. It's all about what you want to focus on. You, apparently, feel the need to rub everyone's nose in rapes and DWIs and the like. Good for you.
  7. Not really sure what you're getting at here. Spiller averaged 5.4 yards per carry over the season. We held him to 2.4 YPC. Davis averaged 4.4 yards per carry over the season. We held him to 2.2 YPC. They rushed for a combined 43 yards. By any stretch of the imagination we held Clemson's running game under complete control, so much so that they had to go away from it.
  8. Isn't the issue that we got as much press (or more) than they did, yet they had similar issues and more of them? Or is it the fact that it's been twelve years since LP played here and people are still bringing him up as a knock against the program? Or is it the fact that Christian Peter hasn't played here in 13 years and people are still bringing him up? Or is it the fact that there have been a similar number of arrests for similar kinds of upheaval amongst Urban Meyer's Florida Gators the past few seasons, yet press coverage remains little more than footnotes for those very news outlets that still splash LP and Christian Peter up on the screen, associated with Nebraska? Or is it the fact that Penn State has had such a string of run-ins with the law over the last several years that it makes the legal trouble of Nebraska, Miami and/or Florida State of the 1990s seem like a few playground hijinks, yet again, there is next to no press about them. Maybe people are just a little tired of hearing about how "outrageous" the Huskers were in the 1990s, when they weren't much different than many, many other teams over the years.
  9. Paul dropped plenty of balls last year. The slot has nothing to do with it.
  10. Don't even say that as a joke. It's not funny.
  11. True. And when you think of all those redshirt freshmen that are coming in WOULD start at other schools, and they'll either be playing this year or pushing the starters, I think we're going to see drastic improvement at LB and defensive secondary. So I'm cautiously optimistic about this year, but realistic considering our schedule.
  12. We have question marks at: QB OFF Line WR Punter LB CB S Kick Return Kick Coverage We need guys to step up at each of these positions. I'm very willing to accept a #27 ranking with those kinds of questions around the team. We're solid at: RB TE DEF Line That's a decent foundation to build a team around, but it's not enough to break into a swagger when talking about the upcoming year.
  13. Think what he could do this year with some improvement. Another year of learning, getting stronger, better technique... Of all the things we're going to see this year, I think Ndamukong Suh's impact will be the most incredible thing to watch.
  14. We are a young team in a lot of crucial spots. Those guys need to grow up fast if we're going to match last year's win/loss record. Truth to tell, we could go 9-4 again but have a 'better' season, simply because of all the youth. The "lack of nastiness" has been a problem, you're right. Here's hoping the lights turn on, soon. By all accounts the guys we recruited were good. Now that needs to translate on the field.
  15. No..... he can not...... I wont let him.... I'm pretty sure that conversation doesn't have to take place for some time. Sweater Vest isn't likely to be leaving tOSU anytime soon, and Bo just started here anyway. He'll need to add some more to his resume before he's the Son of Ohio they call back to coach the Buckeyes.
  16. Agreed. And I also agree with your earlier post - I have no idea where mwj98 was coming from, either.
  17. Hack made a vague reference to Glenn's "trouble."
  18. Bo can go back to Ohio State if he wants, as long as we get someone to take over the program like Kansas found after Williams left.
  19. Heh. They know they live in a beautiful town. They also know that Lincoln is a two-horse cow town with next to nothing going for it besides the U. This won't change that. But it was still funny to mess with their poll a little. =D
  20. That's not the point. The point is to rub their noses in it. I've voted enough for the both of us, so it doesn't really matter. But not one time did I vote with tacit acceptance of "boulder is the best."
  21. I know ESPN is the "worldwide leader" and all that, but I haven't been able to make myself care about their opinion for quite some time. I suppose it's better that they show us some love than that they don't, but really... yawn. They give stuffed shirts and talking heads someone to look down upon, so I guess they serve some purpose.
  22. Agreed. Free is good, but quality costs money. And I would get more work done if I had to pay all the time.
