  1. So cry me a river, Guy. What are we supposed to do, hold a vigil for their players? Pass the hat for bail money? What's with this whining about Miami and Oklahoma players? Do you know any of them? I know a former OU athlete. The tales he'll tell you of their athletic dorms in the 80s will curl your toes. And you're wringing your hands because SOME Husker fans threw gibes their way? In your perfect world, what should have happened?
  2. Agreed. There is a clear disparity between Oklahoma/Texas and the players we've got now. Whether that's pure athletic ability or coaching or some combination of the two I don't know, but we have a long way to go before we're in their league again.
  3. Brian Rosenthal on the JournalStar blogs is saying that three kids got booted off the team at Arkansas State for attempted burglary. One of them was shot in the robbery and is in the ICU. All things considered, an MIP isn't the worst thing that could happen.
  4. I appreciate your blessing. To answer your edited-in second line - since when have you been elected to speak for everyone else in this thread?
  5. This is a weekly occurrence during the summer on MANY campuses. It's a testament to what we expect from our team that we get reactions like this: when one of our players does something like this. At Florida, Penn State, USC, etc this wouldn't even be a blip on the radar. Here's to higher standards.
  6. There's a kind of person who allows someone to mock them to their face and there's a kind of person who doesn't. I'm the kind of person who's going to stand up to that kind of behavior. If you're not, fine, but don't get bent if some here take exception to it.
  7. Paterno is a little more "saucy" when giving interviews, and maybe he was even more so a couple of decades ago, but recent interviews I've seen with him... meh. He's not lighting my world on fire. =) I'm probably showing a little bias towards my home boy Osborne there, but Paterno has never really been exciting to me.
  8. I thought that was a pretty good article. Didn't see many holes in their logic. The good news is, all ten of those guys can improve enough to make an impact this year, I have no doubt. The question is, will they?
  9. Maybe... I'd think Blue, Dennard, and Amukamara would have just as good of a shot. Maybe even Lance Thorell? DBs are decently deep this season it seems like I think Hagg has more potential than Amukamara. Both are really good athletes, but the light just seems to be more "on" for Hagg than it is for Amukamara. Of course, I expect all of our DBs to make drastic improvements this year after another year of Bo Time. I was somewhat shocked to see so little improvement last year.
  10. I dropped him a note saying if he gigs Osborne for being "bland" then he has to do the same for Paterno. If Osborne is Vanilla, Paterno is French Vanilla.
  11. Some did. Most just let Nebraska's own experiences with "troubled" players remind them that there are stupid kids in every program, everywhere. Most reacted with typical Nebraska aplomb and moved on.
  12. With all due respect, Mr. Chamberlin, stick it in your pie hole.
  13. Where did they get those Nebraska helmets?
  14. If you people don't stop quoting that mess of a post I'm going to do something awful. Like call you Buffs fans or something. I'll do it. Don't push me.
  15. Kevin Cosgrove is a Division I football coach. That's not exactly a ringing endorsement.
  16. Because it'll be funny - Why, exactly, do you bring up Nebraska's recent lack of success? How in the world does that pertain to this discussion?
  17. Are you just kind of slow in general, or are you trying to cause trouble? The score to this game is easy to find with a simple google search. Posting this and "score updates" like you are seems like you're trying to mock us about losing a game. I can't imagine doing this on a Kansas forum. Posting a thread about, well, any Nebraska/Kansas game from the 70s, 80s or 90s, giving scoring updates, then asking, "Gee, how does this game end? Anyone know?" I would expect to get my tail end handed to me for the next month doing something like that. Do you have a link to the site you're watching this game on?
  18. How long do you give an assistant? Depends on what he started with and what he's done with what he had. We didn't have anything like a classic "pipeline" to begin the season last year, and we saw improvement from game one to the bowl game. Give them all a couple of years to get the kids in they want and train them up. You can't make a decision based on one year's worth of kids they didn't recruit.
  19. Where is the article about "filling shoes?" This link is about tailgating.
  20. Where are you getting this from? Sagarin's final 2007 SOS rankings have KU at #74 and USC at #29. Here from the NCAA That's a simple win/loss average. Sagarin is far more accurate in determining SOS.
  21. Where are you getting this from? Sagarin's final 2007 SOS rankings have KU at #74 and USC at #29.
  22. We've torn down the goal posts several times in the 80s and 90s. They would go down O Street or end up in Broyhill, or somewhere else on campus. I think one of the fraternities had a chunk of goalpost for a while when I was going to school. They talked like they did, anyway. Again, all this "we're better than that" talk flies in the face of Husker history. We were charging the field during the Scoring Explosion days, during the late 80s, during the Championship Years in the 90s, and we'll do it again this year if we beat Oklahoma. There is nothing dishonorable about it, it's just dangerous and one day something is going to happen to someone when they're not where they should be.
