  1. Wrong. https://employment.unl.edu/applicants/jsp/shared/Welcome_css.jsp This on UNL's system. It's their job description on their Applicant Tracking System. What if that posting is old (i.e. positions have already been filled)? Once a job is filled the posting is removed/ closed. This is from their career site taken this evening. I doubt if they posted the job to collect resumes. This an open valid job at the Univ. of Nebraska at Lincoln. Actually I was wrong. The VALID job description is not from an ATS. It's a job descrition most likely posted through their HRIS/ HRMS. That's not true. Sadly, there are a handful of jobs that I have applied for in the last several months where the employer has contacted me to notify me that they have already hired another applicant, but the posting is still up (stating "open until filled"). And these are university jobs I have applied for. You really think they posted this job to collect resumes? WRONG!!!!! Where did you get that? Of course not. Like everyone has said many times, this posting is just a necessary move to abide by university policy.

  3. So their isnt a job posting on UNL website. Just because a certain individual is being paid doesnt mean his job isnt open for reconsideration by his boss which in this case would be Pelini. You're right that there is an opening in the sense that a job search clearly is underway, but from another perspective there are no openings in the sense that every position is currently filled. This happens with jobs all the time. Someone gives their notice and the company posts a notice for their position while that employee finishes his/her last few weeks/months. As it always seems to be with Bo these days, it comes down to semantics in determining whether he's telling the truth.
  4. Why hasn't anyone considered the possibility that Bo is telling the truth that there are no openings since he's already (albeit unofficially) hired replacements for Wats and Gil? Bo often says things that are technically true, like that Sanders was still on the staff as of Wednesday afternoon and that he hadn't hired anyone yet. Kind of like when coaches say they haven't been contacted by a school about a job when really they or their agent have been contacted by a third party search agency that the school hired. I still say Bo already has a handshake deal with any new coaches on the offensive side of the ball. Nobody has officially been fired or hired. Hence, technically, no current openings.
  5. By university policy they have to "post" it. So then where is the job posting for LB coach? One likely possibility is that they have one posting for multiple positions. That might be why they make the job description so vague. The defensive one could have applied to any position on the defensive side of the ball. Same with this one for the offensive side. I think that's probably what's happening here. Brian Christopherson just confirmed what I suspected above. I think they only post these when they already have chosen someone. That's what happened when they hired Bo. That appears to be what happened with Raymond and Ells. And I heard this evening from a good source that Bo already has his guy (not Frost or Beck). So your thinking it will be Jason Phillips or Ed Warinner? I would be very surprised if we didn't get Frost to be honest. Not necessarily, but those are the other names we're hearing. My friend told me that Bo already has his OC, that it is the guy he wanted all along, and that it is someone outside of the program that isn't Frost.

  7. Exactly. His dad did a great job of clearing up everything. And just to clarify, he was upset with ESPN ignoring the part of Dirk's article where Charles said he would still have gone to NU even had he known about Sanders leaving before signing day. Just one more reason why
  8. I don't think he's going to be the next OC (from what I'm hearing), but Frost does meet the minimum requirements of the posting. And for the record, I don't think it will be Beck either.

  10. I think it's university policy. I've worked at universities that have had the policy that every job opening must be posted publicly for a certain number of days - even positions that a current university employee is already going to take (i.e. promotion). I believe NU did this for the head coaching position during their last coach search. Does anyone else remember this?
  11. :laughpound :laughpound :laughpound :laughpound
  12. Notice that it doesn't require the ability to be "multiple" in your offensive scheme.
  13. The initial word I heard from a friend of mine that usually knows this stuff before it's made public had Watson and Gilmore definitely out and possibly Sanders and Brown too. I told him I understood the Wats and Gil part, but said he was crazy about Sanders and Brown. My exact words were, "Barney would go before them!" But maybe it's not too crazy after all seeing that Sanders is gone.
  14. This is disappointing. I expected more from Bo, especially with all of his emphasis on building trust with his players. I hope he's man enough to acknowledge his mistake and apologize to the kid.
  15. I know everyone has their "guy in the know," but I did hear from a very reliable source that Frost has turned down Bo. My friend did say that he turned Bo down "for now," implying that it could be part of a negotiating process. He also didn't specify what specific position he turned down. Frost has said in the past that he wouldn't leave UO for a lateral move, so perhaps that's what he supposedly rejected.
  16. Still waiting for you to explain how you came up with the title of your post. Certainly not by the "story" you linked. That's like saying there will be no staff changes because Bo said there had not been any staff changes to this point.
  17. Just throwing this out there, but maybe we should give Tevin a bit of a break considering the very likely news today that Marvin Sanders isn't on the staff any longer. Depending on the timetable, perhaps someone on the staff notified Tevin of the change and Tevin didn't like that. Not expecting this to be a popular opinion on here, but I think it's a real possibility.
  18. What I can't understand is why recruiting sites like Rivals base their team rankings on total points instead of average stars per player signed. Ranking them by total points does not account for the fact that teams have different sized... classes each year based on scholarships available. For example, USC has 2,431 points, but they have 30 recruits, while Oklahoma has only 1,722 points but only 17 recruits! So Rivals ranks USC's class at #2 and OU's at #13. But if you judge them by average stars per player (which would judge the talent/potential of the class while accounting for different sized classes), you would see that OU really should have the #5 class and USC #11. BTW, Nebraska would have the #9 class according to that ranking (and the top class in the Big 10).
  19. I also heard that Raymond is our new DB coach. My source on this is Kevin Wilson.
  20. Why hate on a reporter for asking the question that everyone is wondering? Like it or not, Bo can't just decide which questions can and can't be asked of him. Any real reporter worth his salt wouldn't let the person getting interviewed get away with that. You can't make him answer the question, but he sure as hell can't keep you from asking the question. It's not like Dirk is disrespectful in the way he asks the question. I say good for Dirk for not cowering to Bo like everyone else. But didn't you think it made those reporters who asked coaching questions look like jerks? Bo told everyone before hand that he was only responding to recruiting questions then a couple of reporters asked about coaching changes. What part of 'I'm not going to discuss coaching changes during this time' do you not get? That's how it came off to me. I think that Bo IS going to make coaching changes. He said that there would be a time to discuss that topic but it wasn't now. He might not have fired any coaches or hired anyone right now but whose contract wasn't renewed or who left on their own accord? I think Bo was much more relaxed doing the teleconference versus a live conference with people breathing down his neck. Just my take Not at all. A real story broke today, publicly confirmed by an opposing coach. As a reporter you have to ask those questions, even if Bo says he doesn't want you to. That's your job. Period. You're only a jerk if you ask the question in a jerky way, ala T.J. Simers.

  22. Let's hope there's no collateral recruiting damage. For this year's class? Too late.
