  1. Lane Kiffin would only be here for a year at the most and then we'd be back to a new offensive coordinator and a new system. Lane Kiffin is a guy who's on his way up.
  2. Very true. I went to a K-State/IA State game a couple years ago and the stands were half empty, but all of the IA State fans were having a great time. I think there were actually more people tailgating across the street-which really looked and smelled awesome when we walked through. If we could have that attitude AND the sellouts, it'd be great.
  3. The halftime commentary was the least offensive part of the whole game. Not sure what you guys are complaining about.
  4. It's frustrating that they had two weeks to prepare and came out inconsistent and sloppy. That concerns me.
  5. Wow. Regardless of what happens to this guy as a coach, I like his style.
  6. You can put him on the field as much as you want. Have him pick up blitzes, run screens, line him up at receiver, but Helu is still a better runner and should be getting at least half of the carries. I agree that Helu should get as many or more carries than Lucky. Most of our problems on O come down to our O-line. Everything starts up front, except for 1 or 2 carries last night Helu didn't have anywhere to run either. His TD run was F'n awsome though. Agreed. 6 of one, half dozen of the other basically.

  8. So did we run out of Kool-aid in Nebraska yesterday?
  9. He won't though. We'll see Lucky get 12 carries, Castille with eight or nine, and Helu get four or five. We'll end up with 45 or so rushing yards with Helu getting the majority of those on 1/3 of the carries that Lucky got.
  10. We just need to play a bunch of teams with a secondary like ours. That seems to do the trick for the mediocre QBs we've faced.
  11. I'm still saying 5-7. Virginia Tech is an awful offensive football team and we made Tyrod Taylor look like Tim Tebow. He had 199 passing yards on the SEASON before last night.
  12. So we've been hearing about the lack of talent for, let's see, five years in a row now. Maybe next year they'll get it figured out. And someone said they can rest easy knowing that the outcome was different than it would be with Callahan and Cosgrove. You're absolutely right. We would have scored more points with Callahan.
  13. Callahan burned redshirts, doing this does not build for the future. Wasn't it one of the Kansas schools who had a coach that redshirted a whole jr. class to build for the future? Seems like they had one good season after that and then he was gone (fired?). Bill Snyder? No, Bill Snyder would have redshirted a whole class of junior college players, not a whole jr. class.
  14. As much as this may SEEM like last year, it's NOT last year. Coaches are admitting that problems exist and admitting that fixing them is a priority. They know the line play is an issue. It ain't last year, folks.
  15. I'm more confident today than I was Saturday. We never would have pulled off what we did on Saturday with the team and coaches from last year and they had five wins. A couple more isn't unreasonable. By the time Missouri, TX Tech, Kansas and Oklahoma get here we'll have seen the spread offense a few more times and our nickel defensive package will hopefully be a bit more experienced.
  16. Sooooo, how many more years are we going to have to hear that we don't have the talent to win here. This will be the fifth year in a row we've heard that. Anyone see what Nick Saban is doing at Alabama in his SECOND year?
  17. Thank you! When I see people making tackles in the open field, maybe I'll start thinking 9 wins. Or even 7 wins. I think it's going to be rough year.
  18. That's pretty much a 6-6 finish (if we're fortunate) and an improvement of one win over last year. Whoopie.
  19. Word. We need to actually win a few games this year before I'm going to start getting confident. I'm still thinking 5-7 or 6-6 for Nebraska this year.
  20. I seem to remember people saying this last year about the USC game. Don't be surprised at another 5-7 year with our team getting blown out a whole bunch.
  21. I thought that most of this crap was going to be over yesterday. I'll be glad when that's finally the case.
  22. I'm sure Tom Osborne still feels that getting a coach in place right away is crucial. Whether or not LSU's in the national championship, I'm sure the job still starts right away. People aren't going to put up with another 41 day secretive rumor-fest like last time.
  23. For a while, it seemed like that's all Johnson lovers were seeing was the triple option. Personally, as long as you have a little balance I don't think it matters what offense you run in college as long as the team is conditioned, gets the best players the ball, and executes well. I know he replaced a lot of starters on defense but the amount of points he gave up this season concerns me A LOT. His offense does score a lot of points but his defense gave up more than 40 several times this year. Yikes. It would scare me but I would give T.O. the benefit of the doubt as that first post pointed out a lot of good progress.
