I just heard from one of my buddies who knows one of the hardcore boosters that TO is NOT going to hire a regular head coach but will instead bring in a series of coaching "consultants" each week to prepare the players for the games. This will be an opportunity for out of work coaches like Dan Reeves and Barney Cotton an opportunity to make a little bit of scratch. It will also provide established coaches with a bye week an opportunity to make a bit of money when they're normally sitting around doing nothing. Osborne figures that everyone in Husker Nation will eventually get their favorite coach in there running their favorite flavor of offense and everyone will finally be happy. Also this way if someone gives up 70 points to Kansas we can just not hire that person again. Unless we're really desperate or something and there's no one else. I like it and I think it will work.

Nebraskans will never put up with a coach who has a name they can't spell. And he runs the West Coast Offense, so all of the people who want the triple option back at Nebraska will be pretty upset and demand that he be fired right away.

He'll probably just keep Callahan. He's already tapped Sally Field as one of the new defensive coaches according to that other thread. It's going to be a pretty exciting year. The Bandit will drop her off in his black Trans Am before every game and then speed off with Sheriff Buford T. Justice in hot pursuit.

I'm going to guess Tim Robbins as Offensive Coordinator with Sally Fields as one of the defensive coaches. Man are we screwed.

So why was Ganz constantly going back to the sidelines? I don't think he's even allowed to audible at the line. He's obviously running over to the sidelines to tell the coach which play he's thinking of running.

According to the rumor I heard there will be a press conference announcing that BC is gone. Would not expect one unless that is happening, since there is no game this week. There will be a press conference today because Bill Callahan will be fired. Right after that he'll hitch his wagon full of Saddam's weapons of mass destruction to his team of unicorns and head down the rainbow highway to fairyland.

Outside of Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri no one cares about KU and Mizzou. If someone offered me tickets to either I know which one I'd go to. Michigan and Ohio St is like Yankees vs. Red Sox, it's big time.

I'm actually more worried that Tom Osborne will pull a Scott Baldwin and have Bill Callahan live with him for a few months.

Why is everyone so high on this guy? He (barely) won ONE football game against an abysmal Notre Dame team. When Notre Dame has actually been decent or mediocre he hasn't gotten it done. If we hire this guy, I don't see him ever beating Bob Stoops. You have to do that in our conference before you can be considered an elite team. I also think that people around here are going to have to watch high school or Air Force games if they want to see old fashioned triple option football again. It's not coming back here. Ever since that game in Columbia when Frank Solich tried to run the triple option in the fourth quarter in the middle of Hurricane Katrina it's been pretty much dead.

EXACTLY. We all remember the wonderful success story that was Frank Solich running the option offense.

Dear God, let's not bring a coach here because a few people long for the option.

Does a team that's 1-5 and in conference play like we are really DESERVE a bowl game? Honestly, I'd much rather see a team like Oklahoma State, Kansas State, or Colorado go to a bowl before us. The coaches of those teams are all top notch guys and are moving their teams in the right direction. I hope we stay home this year and start fixing this mess.

This is stupid. USC has lost a couple games after going to the Rose Bowl in back to back years. Hardly the same thing as losing up to 8 GAMES in a year.
