  1. Are you trying to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball?
  2. I agree that we should wait to see what happens before we trash talk. I agree that things should be civil. But please remember this: we're dealing with Missouri fans. Fans that believe, that because of their past two years of moderate success, they have always been the cat's pajamas. Apparently college football started only 3 years ago. Just hit the linky...we'll see how you feel after visiting this cesspool: http://www.tigerboard.com/boards/list.php?board=2 I implore you to attend a game in Columbia, Missouri. I was fortunate to attend the majority of said games when they were still our whipping post (1997, 1999, 2001), however, I was also unfortunate enough to attend the first game they had defeated us in 25 years (funny enough - exactly my age at the time). Strangely, the experience was exactly the same every year - including 2003 when they finally broke their massive losing streak....bad. Their fans are a bunch of slack-jawed yokels that hate everything that is Nebraska. Every year, MU fans were in our faces while walking to the game. Beer cans littered the highway adjacent to the stadium. Jack Daniels bottles were constantly afloat in the late autumn air, all in spite of their neighbors to the north. And that attitude stands to this very day. Nothing has changed, even after several lopsided wins for them. They are poor losers - and they are poor winners. It's ingrained in their DNA. It will never change. Go to a game in Columbia, my friend. On that note, I feel obligated to post this picture:
  3. I would think that Nebraska fans would like to forget about Chase Daniel as quickly as possible... Considering the last two contests. And forget those two memorable gems of Chase picking his nose on national tv and saying McCoy has a great ass on national tv??? Never. Don't forget about Pinkel getting caught doing the same...
  4. Derp. Brandon McCray #59 DT Dracula? Ross Goodlet #15 WR And I'm reachin'....Ted Logan
  5. #55 OL Joseph Bailey Wanda from In Living Color
  6. Well if you want a good representation of KSU's fan base go to ksufans.com. But be prepared to lose quite a few brain cells when you try to talk football with them. They are the most rude, obnoxious, juvenile board I have come across. Just a bunch of losers You should try tigerboard.com (Missouri)... Half the threads started there are about either us or KU. I don't think half of them know anything about football...but they sure bitch and moan about NU in a knowledgeable manner.
  7. How do you see any of this EVER changing? Due to NU's latitude and longitude, is Nebraska then destined to have most of their recruits continually raided by the draft? Unless you see the climate changing in Lincoln, I don't see how it is possible to improve the situation - by your logic. Not that I don't agree with you that players want to go to school and play where it's warm...but how do we get players to commit here and ultimately play here??? Do you really think that the climate of a recruit's school choice predominately overrides that signing bonus of the MLB teams?
  8. I like this quote even more, made it on May 13th, State of Husker Baseball..."Havoc, the main reason I threw the question out is to call out any knowledgeable, true Sker baseball fans. Too many people that have called for the axe are the weekend fans that use the spring to pass the time until the next big football recruit signs. Do I dig football more? Yes, but as a baseball season ticketholder I hate these "fans" calling for the head of a coach that was dealt a harsh hand." Wow. It must be nice to be a true Husker Baseball Fan! It seems to me that the only way you distinguish between a true Husker Baseball fan and a pseudo Husker Baseball fan is whether or not that person fully supports Anderson. Do we have to hold season tickets? I'm a student...I get in free. I think that Kline leaving is another red-flag on what is really going on, as far as the team dynamic and attitudes of players. Christ, I don't think Anderson had even settled on a working batting order at season's end. I mean, I'm all for switching it up...but seriously.
  9. Amazing that a local kid would leave Nebraska...“I’ve had close friends say ‘You don’t look like you’re having fun,’ and I haven’t progressed, offensively,” Kline said. Offensively? Hmmm....
  10. Fine, man. I'll just attempt to agree to disagree. It's like I've said before - we have all the makings for a great baseball program...but hey, I guess it's just Nebraska Baseball, and nobody expects much anyway. You can throw out all the, "well we were abysmal in 2004, but won in 2005" drivel that you want. If you don't see that there's an overall decline in both the quality of play and demeanor, then fine. More power to ya, buddy!
  11. The comparison is that all of those coaches rode the coat-tails of their predecessors players, won games, and were ultimately found to have little ability to build and lead a team. That's the comparison...unfortunately you're apparently too far gone to attempt to see the validity. Article by Mitch Sherman of the OWH - no sunshine pumping here... http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=3918...;u_sid=10634643
  12. Van Horn wasn't exactly a hot-commodity when he was hired to coach at NU. The point is this: there are plenty of assistants out there that are no-names and are more than capable and suitable as a replacement. It's not up to me. What I do know is this - with our facilities and fan support (thanks DVH) - there is no reason that we should be finishing last in the Big 12 North and ultimately the entire Big 12. No reason...no matter what havoc has to say. We're young, blah-blah-blah. We just lost a home series to a 1st-year program - a program that was 9-31 coming in. Roughly half are freshman, and half are JUCO juniors. Zero seniors. And our 7th consecutive series loss. There is no argument. Our program has declined overall ever since Anderson has been at the helm. And for you NU football enthusiasts - what Solich or Callahan is to NU or Raider football, respectively; Anderson is to NU baseball. Each rode their predecessor's coat-tails, and won with those recruits/players. Now we're witnessing the backlash.
  13. I agree with you on the statement that baseball is not football. However, in other areas I can't say that I'm jumping on your boat... Assimilating the 2004/2005 seasons with 2009/2010 seasons is a stretch. Why would you wholeheartedly believe that 2005 success will translate into 2010 success? Because it happened then? There is no evidence that we'll be any better in 2010 than 2009. In fact, we lose the following seniors (just like those impact players last year): Mort, Tezak, Sullivan, Bird, and Neer - all impact players. This list obviously doesn't include those that will be taken in the draft. Now, I'd be an idiot to say that our younger players won't (and those not here yet) won't fill-in and have an impact - because I can not say that with any certainty. But you, apparently, believe that to be the case judging by this statement, "This team was not good by any stretch of the imagination, but next year will be better..." The truth is this - in the past 4 years, we've had 1 mediocre season(2007) and 1 horrendous season(2009). If we still didn't have fresh memories of us in the CWS, there would be an even bigger outcry. I hate calling for coaching changes, because there is always a healing/recovery/transition process. I'm not a supporter of the "coaching carousel." This doesn't mean that we can't be critical or skeptical of our current staff, no matter what the sport.
  14. 1997 - We only won 7 conference games...The Sanders era.
  15. Alright, buddy. If you really want me to address your post, I will do so... Where are our "good starts" out of our young pitchers (are you blaming our young pitchers for this)? We have an overall 8.22 ERA as a team. Our opponents are averaging 4.40. Are our freshman just inferior to the other freshman on other teams around the country? Here:http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=105&SPID=33&DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=3675299 I love our players - I really do. It's not their fault. I wish you wouldn't assume that I'm just one of those, "Hey, we're not atop our conference - let's fire him" type of dudes. I say, "Hey, perhaps we should think about intervening to stop this mess." You say, "No, everything is fine...let's just leave it alone - it will fix itself." Your lack of expectations is what troubles me. You say, "This is what i've been looking for all year... This young pitching staff to grow, start throwing strikes, and improving." I'm pretty sure that any player, coach, and fan wants their pitchers to throw strikes. Good work, buddy! And where, WHERE do you see that our pitching is improving - aside from Erik Bird. There are no expectations/goals there. And please explain where what you've been looking for all year has presented itself to you. Spin it however you like, but Nebraska Baseball is on a tailspin that we may not recover from. P.S. - I love how you don't even question Anderson's move in pinch-hitting for Bailey..LOVE IT.
  16. Anderson just pinch-hit for Bailey, with the bases loaded, with no outs.
  17. I guess the beards have to go...
  18. But don't you know this doesnt matter? It doesn't mean anything? They just got lucky was all! A young pitcher gave up one hit over 5 and a third innings... It's worthless Great win again.. Tomorrows game is a huge statement game.. With Nesseth on the mound we need to come out and pound the ball again and put pressure on the jayhawks... 13 hits today.. let's get 15 tomorrow would be a HUGE step in the right direction... Maybe people will start to lighten up How do you feel now?
  19. As much as we hate it....Anderson is gone. Period. Done. Discuss...
  20. Alright, duders... No, I think we're jumping the gun in calling for Anderson's head. Newman, perhaps. Whoa, whoa! Let me finish... While our bats have no-doubt "cooled-off" in the past few games, our pitching has been the obvious problem. In the past 10 games, we've allowed 116 runs. 116! Even with the best team batting average in the country, one can't expect to win many - if at all - when giving up 11.6 runs/game. Now, there are people that will say, "What do you expect? We lost all of our pitching to the draft.?.?" True. However, that does not account for the amount of walks and hit-batters. It's a mentality, folks - especially when it comes to pitching. And I don't think Newman's approach with our pitchers seems to be working too well. We're still batting .293 as a team. Not great, but certainly not the culprit. Until we see our pitchers cut down on the walks/game, hit-batters/game, and getting behind in the count on the majority of opposing batters....well, we're going to continue to see the same thing. In fact, if we continue to average 11.6 runs to be score on us...all the offensive firepower in the world will not help. Thoughts?
