  1. Agree with ya. If we get to 12 wins this season and conference title. You have to consider Bo one of the best coaches around. You have to look at what he has done in the past 3 years, national title or not. He transformed one of worst defensive units ever into one of most feared. He change the whole culture and attitude of the program and the state. I believe he has been one of the best coaches to get the most out of talent that he had. He got players BELIEVING in system and themselves. If we only manage 9 wins or so, the perception will be atleast nationally, that he is just an average coach. ask me in about 4 yrs from now, and we will see how he did
  2. i still don,t like nu joining the big 10, allways hated he big 10....playing ohio state, penn state, they are eastern schools, location is a big problem in my book. i will go never like the move , regardless of osborn, etc....it was about money, nothing eles
  3. well..sounds like okay state is first choice, and notre dame second
  4. Here is a pretty decent article on Texas' needs for 2011: http://www.statesman.com/sports/longhorns/early-look-at-horns-recruiting-needs-for-2011-214879.html Basically 1-2 RBs and a lot of OL and S. from what i have read hear, carnes has a great arm,,,,and will be the 2nd best passer when he arrives....jamel,,,really don,t know about his arm though...
  5. i would like to get some of these guys,,but they are long shots....maybe nu will be lucky and get one....i am waiting to see if nu can ever snag a 5 star recruit...has not happen in a long time
  6. ...and drew brees proves the perfect height for quarterbacks is 6 feet in all seriousness, long arms are nice, as long as you are able to put on enough good weight and can still get low when run blocking. i'm certainly not saying we shouldn't take this kid, or that he won't be good, just that the vast majority of good OT's are 6'4 to 6'7. 6ft is sort of on the small side if you ask me...look at the pros,,,,,most are taller.....sterup at 6ft 8 is tall...i checked out the big 10 rosters, 4 men that tall..ohio state has 2....so there are a some that tall, but very few...extreme.
  7. size makes a difference going to d1, you have to have a built, push people around...another big factor is speed. i have seen some really good quarterbacks in high school that could throw extremely well, but were just too slow for d1..as they say, speed kills...nebraska going to redshirt a qb or 2, with the glut they have........sterup is tall at 6.8,,,but that does not mean he cannot play...there are a few guys in the pros that are 6.7 , saw one 6.8.....not that many though, most guys are 6.5 or 6.4
  8. I live in Dallas area. I find the Dallas Morning News ands local TV stations have treated the Big 12 North as a seperate conference. The only time they gave NU, or any other North team any time, or space was when they played a South team. That we will lose, but publicity for intra- North games was minimal at best and no better than Big Ten matchup coverage. nebraska,s step to stardome , joining the life of the rich in the big 10, will be effected more with texas recruiting than any of the 3 teams that bolted to other conferances so far.looking at the husker roster , they now have 26 texan,s, and 13 are from the dallas/ft worth area. for moving to the big 10, texas players will not be close to their home towns and familes, instead of playing in places like austin, college station, lubbock and waco, it will be ohio, michigan, indiana, will become regular home games. nebraska will have a tough sell to recruit some of these kids, not being able to play in their home states , etc. nebraska will still have some success, but if they shift there recruiting efforts to the midwest, which i think they wil, recruiting in california, arizona, and texas might not be as important as in the past
  9. well, sounds like i can sleep a bit better tonight, knowing penili will be around a couple of days. quess i should look at this forum a bit closer to get some facts down before i post
  10. http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/forum/86-recruiting/ penili played college ball at ohio state, and they would like to have him....there are fans there now that would like penili over terell. i still see him there someday
  11. watson has been a target from other schools,,,the alabama coach would like to have him. watson would be a nice candidate for head coach at nu if penili leaves some day ..unfortunatly , penili will probably be ohio state head coach when terrel quites, gets fired, etc..., hopefully that will not happen soon....starling was a great grab, and very highly ranked player...considered 100 best .....he will only help bring in better players, i am hoping we can get a great wide reciever,...nu has allways fell short there.
  12. ihave accounts at both,,,i just have not used it much,,,sort of confusing....many here don,t even know what facebook is,,,i still don,t know what a blog is ,, i thought that was come kind of animal
  13. hmm...i would rather watch you than post here......just kidding....
  14. Congrats on landing Starling from a Buckeye fan. Looks like he had a pretty good offer sheet(incl. ALA and ND). What type of offense has Nebraska been running since Bo took over. Is there any one game I should watch to get a sense of the type of offensive identity we should be expecting from the Huskers in 2011 and 2012? I'd say watch the Arizona game from last year. That's what Shawn Watson has been wanting to do, but with injuries and whatnot last year he and Bo held the reins a little bit. What with rest and players getting healthy, they could let loose more in the bowl game, so that one should be indicative of where our offense is heading. turner committed early on and probably still believes he will be the man,,,,try, turner has the legs for other positions if qb does not pan out...i would say he,s staying.
  15. is there life at nebraska after ndamakung shu, yes, but hukers fans will miss their superstar , a team which came within 1 second of the big 12 title. 2009 proved that bo pelini has this program back on track finally. lee and helu will lead the husker offense in 2010, but the strenghth of this team is on defense....the blackshirts are back and ready to take control of the big 12 north in their farewell season in big 12. can nebraska be one of the national elite ones, the quarterback situation, in my thoughts, is still iffy. there are several good players, but nu i believe still has some work a little bit to get to the level of the elite ones and be nebraska again. i believe nu needs a few more superstars as suh, but the recuriting classes are getting brighter. to win a national title, lee has to get better, or nu has no chance , and cody green has to show he can handle the offense if lee does not pan out. in my opinon for a great 2010 season, if the offense can be adequately productive, consistent, will go a long ways for a sussessful season.
  16. i don,t like the system for sharing either, but its better than going somewhere eles and getting less. not sure if any big conferance will take any of the smaller schools, sadly, its all about money today. nebraska was taken by the big 10, it has a huge following when it comes to tv market...i live in phoenix, and i might even try to get the btn down here., now you take iowa state, they are just a fraction of what nu brings in tv watchers...the thing that nice about the big 10, when the cash registers are totalled, its split to the schools...not so in the big 12, should be laws regulating things like that...
  17. Sorry, broski, this evolved into a Jamal Turner breakdown a long time ago. there have been some impressive things said about turner, if they pan out remains to be seen. when compared to turner gill and tommie fraizier, its tommie fraizier that he resembles very close to what i have read. they say once he comes charging out of the backfield, he bounces off defenders with ease that are not set up to tackle him..thats great, nu has been missing that for some time, and adds a lot of pressure to the defense when you have an iback at qb. quess he has soft touch to his passes for wide recievers that don,t like bullets shot at them....going to fun to see how turner and carnes develope... hopefull green will get better at qb, that remains to be seen...when we hit the big 10, we should have someone at qb that will be formiable 3/25/10 arizona(where i reside) dump truck ran over motorcylces at a stop light, killing 4, injury 4.,, horrific accident.the driver came up positive with drugs in his system, now in prison. will spend most his life there now...video at link http://www.firerescue1.com/fire-ems/articles/779415-3-killed-fire-captain-critical-after-dump-truck-hits-motorcyclists/. http://www.azfamily.com/home/Tow-truck-driver-involved-in-deadly-motorcycle-crash-arrested-90046442.html http://www.kpho.com/video/23073079/index.html
  18. well, i think the big 12 will stay togther for awhile, never know in the future what will happen, but for the time being, its okay i believe...the texas legislature might have got envolved in this if it was going to turn sour, and may have forced there hand on texas, they are a state school. kansas will have a tough time getting into the big 10, its looks like,,,how much money can you bring
  19. Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field would be cool, but will probaly be in a dome, too many patsys out there
  20. yea, i quess i get carried away with nu, and too much time on my hands......
  21. i would like to play ucla anyday over alabama, uh, were is alabama? the huskers line with rickys bruins, would make my day..maybe that,s mr slick,,,,,just kidding
  22. allways will remember those sooner games with switzer and osborn, ,,they were classics. things sure have changed since then, as they say , life moves on and change sometimes happens. oklahoma vs huskers are one of my favorite matchups, will miss it, even after going to the big 10...big 10 in not my farvorite conferance, but i quess i will have to live with it.
  23. everyone seems excited about this match-up when nu hits the big 10 in 2011, and i suspect the hawk fans expect a certain win, if you listen to them...just wondering why these 2 teams have not played in the non-conf schedules over the past few years...being so close in proximity, it should have been on each schools scdules for the last 20 yrs,.
  24. i had be thinking about the last season road games in the big 12 this year, and it could be tough on the huskers. its seems that the fans of those teams don,t listen the regents meetings, or any of the stuff that separates fact from fiction,,all they know is that nebraska left. its true that nu left, but there were reasons that forced the issue, but the opposing fans could care less...nebraska will probably get booed out of every stadium they play on the road this year, maybe not as much at texas if they play them on the road, because they were not exactly angels this year.....what are your thoughts on the road games...
  25. ha, ha,...joke on me......sort of nice to see a walk-on stir up the pot, they have an incentive to show the coaches, hey i am pretty good too. there have been walk-ons that have ended up starters. here are some from the past- Jeff and Joel Makovicka , followed by I.M. Hipp , Jared Tomich , Langston Coleman, Brandon Rigoni and Jarvis Redwine . those guys are from a few years back, but made a name for themselves. we need to get the husker machine rolling before you hit the big 10, because wisconsin and iowa believe they are going to do us in...i have other thoughts on that, espcially if our defense keeps up the great work...defenses wins national titles, offense sells tickets.
