  1. Only one wish and it starts with the coaching. The coaching staff needs to get it's act together. It was pretty obvious they struggled working together for the first time. It starts with Callahan, he really looked clueless last year at times and regardless of the talent on the team, we should not have been embarassed on the field as many times as we were last year.
  2. You could ask Callahan the same questions next week and get different answers. Right after the season ended in a well publicized article he stated clearly that he was surprised how much pressure there was at NU to win. What the hell does he think he was hired for? Well Billy the pressure is there. You have a lot of people on this board and across this state thinking you can do it. Show some results instead of being a great manure spreader. The clock is ticking.
  3. What the hell is Shatels problem. He reminds me of Mike Kelly in the 80's vigorously wanting Osborne replaced. Now Kelly writes nice, tender articles about nothing. The frickin' World Herald should report the news not try to be the news. We all know Pederson knows what he's doing, look at all the ass-kissing going on constantly about Callahan and the football program.
  4. If we can give a supposedly NFL coach all the the benefit of the doubt after a 5-6 season, I think we can give Collier plenty of leeway. As was stated earlier, who wants to coach BB here? There is no fan base. You have 5,000 people that come regulary and 1-2,000 that show up for the hell of it.
  5. I don't want to be too critical but I think Cosgrove is another Bohl. We may be better because we improved our team speed on defense, but if the scheme sucks so will the players.
  6. With all the husker gear and all the videos of past games, you would be very hard-pressed to find another team like NU.
  7. I don't see how anybody could be drafted except Ruud from one of the worst defensive teams NU had in 40 years. Send them to Hamburg to learn with Crouch.
  8. Let's just hope we all realize it is Maine we are playing in game one. Last years team never duplicated any of the success they had against W. Illinois. In fact many of those player featured in that game were never heard from again ie. Willie Amos.
  9. Sean callahan made the comment on Harrah's show Sunday night regarding Taylor & Dailey getting about 40% of the snaps each. I don't Seans relationship to the team or if he's just blowing smoke.
  10. I'm not sure I would bury Dailey yet. Any success Taylor had at JUCO probably won't come as easy against the Big 12 defenses. Dailey could always signal in the plays. No wait he doesn't know the plays.

    NU vOU

I've never made a prediction without knowing how are roster is going to shake out, but here it goes. The game will probably be much like the old days. We will play hard and keep it close, but OK talent level will prevail. 20-14
  12. Putting these high school kids on a pedestal is stupid when they do not have the maturity to handle a simple situation. We label them 5 star talents when a lot of them are just punks. His mom should've kicked his ass.
  13. I still think the defensive scheme or lack thereof we ran last year was more of a factor than the talent level. Dropping into a porous zone or trying to play man to man defense on 3rd down was laughable. I'll never forget watching our corners play 10 yds from the line of scrimage against receivers which was obviously a coaching decision.
  14. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? 45 years 2) What/who led you to The Nation? Listening to Lyle Bremser in the 60's & 70's. That voice was on everyone's radio. 3) Where are you from originally? Omaha 4) Where do you live now? Omaha after 3 yrs in Florida 5) Favorite Husker memory? NU 24 CU 7 in 1994. Huskers were actually underdogs at home. 6) Worst Husker memory? Miami 31-30 1983 Orange Bowl 7) Number of home games attended? 5 8) Number of away games attended? 3 The good old days when there were more husker fans at K-state games 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? Tom Osborne's book "More than Winning" 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) I used to lock myself in a room to watch the games. I'm better now. 11) Favorite all time player? Tommy Frazier 12) WCO or Option? Option but it's too early to tell really 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Some Choice- 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Herbie 15) Favorite Husker play? Berringers 30 yd TD pass to Alford in the CU game. I thought the stadium would collapse. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? Beer
  15. Wow, I've been called a hater on this board, but there's really no need for people to act like fools at a recruiting dinner. I'm sure the coach could have thought of better things to do last night than ward off questions from the wicked witch of the midwest.
  16. I'm sure the Smith wanted to weigh his options, it's just that we had Blake in his living room the other night, where as Blakes efforts may have been used elsewhere, especially since were not his top 2 choices. I'm not going to whine about it further though, this class on paper is great.
  17. Nice words from Lemming, but him and Callahan are good friends. He was the only sportswriter to embrace Bill being hired at NU.
  18. Why don't these kids tell the truth from the start. If they want to stay close to home then say it. That way our recruiters can look elsewhere and not waste their time.
  19. I think articles like the one in OWH keep people grounded. I'm glad we have a good class coming in. Face it people that rank recruiting classes are probably not much better than the BCS voters. They all have their favorite programs and coaches. Many times having #1 recruiting class doesn't mean squat. Talent will get you by, but coaching is the bottom line. If that wasn't true upsets would never occur.
  20. Let's remember Frank is trying to resurrect a program that hasn't show much of anything the past few years. Callahan inherited tradition and the aura that surrounds Nebraska football. To make any comparison is fruitless.
  21. So from what I gather does this mean Smith is dating Peterson?
  22. Let's just let the season play out and we will see what kind of coach Callahan is. Remember Pederson said it's all about winning championships. I think its too bad Barnett still has a job after all the crap that took place right in front of him the past few years.
  23. Tell me one big 12 receiver Fabian could cover. What's he going to do in NFL. He's no first rounder, gosh almighty.
  24. C'mon it's all about winning right? That's what Pederson said. What else can we find to complain about.
  25. I don't think there is any question that these guys can recruit. Blake is as good as it gets, but coaching ability? Who knows. The question is will they have the patience to teach these young guys the X & O's of the WCO. It seemed there was very little patience to teach last year. I think last years team was thrown to the wolves. Coaching is about developing talent and did any aspect of the team improve at all last year during the season? I'm not going to say fire Callahan because I'm tired of that rhetoric, but the 5-6 season last year was all on the coaching or lack of it.
