  1. Intresting points! Still think you'll drop these two, but good points none the less.
  2. I wasn't to shocked we where not on the list, But FIVE south schools and only TWO from the north At least make it somewhat even. And the fact that A&M is on that list and not Nebraska is a TRAVESTY! I don't care if we had no wins last year. Now I 'm a lil peeved. Could be they got wind of the husker nation effect on these polls, who knows?
  3. I think we all know this feeling to well now. I'm just grateful that these coaches are the ones who are hear for a chance to turn things around. Hearing these things from Sanders and Brown, makes me want to suit up! I better go find some Pop Warner kids to throw around.
  4. What about................I believe.........or.............the way I see it................or..............I think......or.......by my reckoning. Just a way to begin or end a train of thought, isn't it? Kind of a random thread. what brought this on? Quick, someone get this guy some HUSKER FOOTBALL! The off season can be a trying time for us all..........IMO
  5. Man I hope it didn't go down like they report. If so what a d*#! move on his part! It's hard not to be jaded when you read these things about players so often. What a horrible way to leave Lincoln.
  6. I don't know that we'll see alot of the upperclassmen returning much. Probably best that some of these younger speed types get their chance to show what they have. I won't be suprised to see several players rotated in the first few weeks, before anyone settles in. But we'll see, as long as they make good decisions back there, cough...Nunn...cough then they should be fine.
  7. Londen Fryar # 6 Cornerback - CB Height: 5-11 Weight: 192 Senior Previous Affiliations Holy Cross High School Jobstown , NJ PERSONAL: Majoring in human resource management... son of Irving and Jacqueline Fryar ... father player 18 seasons in the NFL with New England, Miami, Philadelphia and Washington ... born May 19, 1986 in Stoughton, Mass. Should make an interesting storyline to have Londen play where his father played so many memorable games. Gotta believe Irving will be in attendance. But what colors does he wear? And can we really blame him if it's brown?
  8. "We have a defense loaded with experienced upper classmen, and a secondary that is very very good and not by MAC standards but by anyones standard." Speaking of the Bronco secondary, how cool is it that the son of Husker legend Irving Fryar will be playing a game in Memorial Stadium. Londen has been a two time All MAC player two years running. Wasn't aware of this till recently. Heres to year three! Let's hope he doesn't get to warmed up till week two though!
  9. Can't say I completely agree with you on the future quality at LB. Finding the right guys this year could get a bit ugly. But with guys like Compton, Sean Fisher, Alonzo Whaley; and any number of guys playing other defensive positions. Don't forget about Kyler Reed, not sure where he'll play, but if anyone can find the right group it's Bo & Co. It will just take time to find what we really have. Other than some pretty decent athletes. Hard to tell what our LB situation will look like in a few years. I just hope we can get this group on track, and quick!
  10. "Quitters are always quitters like night always follows day? What's broken today can't be fixed tomorrow? You may be right about the talent level. It should be abundantly clear come the middle of October. But as many have said, this isn't Bo Pelini's first rodeo. It isn't his first time taking the hand of a defensive unit that lacked belief in itself. You don't have to be a homer, but the coaches seem to disagree with your assessment." Remember how it felt to see USC take apart our Dline on national T.V.? Or OSU merrily parading around memorial stadium like they owned it? The mass exodus of "the greatest fans in college football"? Beating KSt by 42, only to drop a turd against CU? Imagine how you would feel if you where a part of it? Of course they quite! We had quite on them! An adjustment back to fundamental football will do wonders for this team. The talent is there it's up to these coaches to pull it out of them. (and us to support them) Let the naysayers say what they want, I'm just ready for some college football; where anything can happen!
  11. I'm expecting a two score win. But this team did beat Iowa, only allowed 27 to Ball State, and we gave up....forty...ooh Then again that Temple score late in the year? Huskers win, from shear will. You don't think these guys have a chip on there shoulder after 07? Man I can't wait to see some huskers flying to the football and giving it 100%. If I see that I'll be satisfied.
  12. I agree. We have alot of good players at QB. And I won't be worried about this position for some time. Regardless of who wins this job in the coming seasons. I think we're set at this position. (Until our next 5 star comes along! )
  13. As for Pelini’s defense, “I’ve played center or did (pass) protection stuff every week for the last two seasons,” Hickman said. “I saw just about every kind of defense there has been. But Bo’s got stuff in his defense that I’ve never even seen. If you watch it once, you think there’s no way that it could be sound, that there’s no way you can send that many guys (on a blitz) and not get burned. But then you watch the film. He finds a way. It won't work every time, but when it does we'll see some massive hits on the QB and INTs. This style of playcalling will seperate the coaches with balls; from those named Coz!!!
  14. “Just because they have the shirts,” Sanders remembers saying, “doesn’t mean that we don’t have the attitude.” It's not the jersey it's the attitude! Let's keep THAT tradition alive!
  15. It may be more a choice of which one gets a red shirt this season. And it's not really a demotion to get a RS, alot of times you like the physical potential enough, that it is a benefit to the player & team. They will only get more fit and more prepared in the process. One could probably list several current players who may have been short changed a season. And the sad part is, it wasn't even injury related.
  16. You kool-aid Drinker I'm most definitly a homer on any kind of poll like this. I thought it was my duty as part of the husker nation!
  17. I'd like to see us play Buffalo, Ohio, LSU, for obvious reasons. And Clemson just because I like the team and I hear they have a nice campus. Could make a good series. And haven't we only played LSU once before. I think we won it too.
  18. Sorry for my hack edit there! I get your point. I realy do. Any kind of support is good, and I would love for it to be something huge. You can't always get what you want though. I am really liking the towel idea more and more. I wonder if people could get behind that?
  19. That makes sense, for a couple of reasons. First, the black towels could be used when the Blackshirts take the field, make a great play, etc. It doesn't require the stadium to become a "Sea of some-color-that-isn't-Nebraska"; we retain the sea of red, and the use of the towels exclusively for the Blackshirts has some rational relationship. Or, to make it more universal, a white towel that could be used at any point in the game. Second, a "white-out" would be fine in the sense that it is one of our colors. However, I suspect that the reason most want everyone to wear black is because they feel - for whatever irrational reason - that it would "intimidate" the opposing team. If so, then I doubt that those individuals would want, or would participate in, a white-out. But honestly, I don't see the purpose. Do it just because it would be "cool"? How is it any cooler than having a Sea of Red? Parenthetically, if having everyone wear black, or having the team wear black jerseys, would be so intimidating, every team in America would sport black. The fact of the matter is, wearing black is not going to intimidate the other team. You could have stuck pink uniforms on the teams from '94 and '95, and they still would dominate all opponents. Conversely, you could have dressed out the 2007 team in all black, and it would not have resulted in one more win. I think your maybe coming at this the wrong way. It's not about the intimidation! Whether it' be a B.O. (wait B.O... Bo Pelini...hmmm?) or the black towels. Which I think may be a better idea. It's all about showing unified support to the team, a team that could badly use it. Fans where WALKING OUT of husker games last year. The same fans that sat all four qts, when we where laying 50 point beat downs on nobodyU. If it was in "protest", then is'nt an equal or greater show of support fitting? I'm honestly not trying to rain on everyones big red parade. I'm just saying it would be ONE game! Yes the sea of red is iconic, and that won't change. It isn't as if we are just pulling some color out of our arse. The huskers have had a blackshirt tradition on defense for 40 years! The skull and bones is marketed on t-shirts, hats, etc all the time. It's unique to us and should be celebrated! I live outside NE now, and I can tell you just about anyone who knows even a little about the huskers will mention the blackshirts. I can't believe I've become the worls largest proponent of a b*******! What the hell Bob?
  20. I feel all the starters should get one, and a few specialists. I also like the idea of making them wait into the season, before VT or MIZZOU. But only this year. Might be a lift for that perticular game. Kinda like ND did, when they brought back the greens. In reality though, isn't starting itself reason enough to "earn" your blackshirt? I'm torn. For motivation maybe, otherwise give em' all one and let them wear it with pride!
  21. I have it Ganz Daniel Harrell Bradford And Hawkins Freeman Arnaud bottom 3. Inevitably one or two of these guys won't make it through the season. And a few more will rise to the top. Ganz could have a terrific season an the national wind bags will still underrate him. I hope he stays healthy and lights it up, then hopefully he can go out the winner, that we know he is! Freeman two spots ahead of Ganz? Where they watching the same game I was last year?
  22. “I can’t go out there and let guys throw me around when I’m blocking,” Holt said. “I’ve got to play a dominant role in the run game. “(If) we play a dominant role in the run game, a lot of guys sometimes don’t want to guard you in the pass game. I’m trying to get guys on their heels, get guys on their back as much as I can.” I still hear that "all the husker WR in the past only had to run block." ONLY block? They SHOULD be blocking any time their not catching, right? "We lose guys in recruiting every year because of it. Most of them are the best receivers in the country, pretty boys who say they'll maybe screen for the backs but they aren't getting dirty. The ones who come here get a linebacker mentality." This is the Nebraska philosophy we've been missing!!! Man, I may go reread my signed copy of UNFINISHED BUISNESS. Glad to have you back Mr. Brown!
