  1. Harbaugh is perfect at Michigan. He's not going to let anyone associated with UM tell him how to run his team. He's going to run it exactly how he wants to run it. That is a lot of what has plagued Michigan. His act may or may not work long-term in the professional ranks where there are players bigger than the coach, but his word will be the law at UM. Michigan got exactly the right guy to succeed. I have to wonder how many years it will be before Meyer has more "health issues" again.
  2. Wasn't it mentioned here that Kaz created a scene in one of the local restaurants upon hearing of the Pelini firing? If true, it appears that volatility is definitely an issue with this guy.
  3. Christ, this board will argue about anything. Trapping and/or hunting beaver, muskrats, mink, and coons put me through my first two years in college. Of course this was when prices ran from $30 for a yearling to $62 for a big boar. I stopped when fur prices took a nosedive. It wasn't worth my time. Evidently it wasn't worth other people's time either, because the little buggers are everywhere now. Having killed hundreds/thousands of fur-bearing rodents, I can assure you that a good thunk on the head is one less hole in the hide. If a strapping young guy like Gangwish thunked you upside the head with a crescent wrench, just like the raccoon, I doubt you would have felt it before the world went black. All we can go by is the story that was told, correct? Given that, was he on school property or being charged with any sort of crime? No. Did he do something extremely stupid by picking up the raccoon? Yes. Is being stupid a crime? No. Did he do the correct thing by dispatching the raccoon as quickly as he could with whatever means he had necessary to avoid mandatory multiple shots in the abdomen given to people bitten by wild animals? Yes. I don't give two sh#ts if what he did got your panties OR PETA's panties in a bunch. He did nothing that warranted any suspension by the university. You many not agree with his methods, but if whacking it with a wrench is what kept it from getting away and having to get rabies shots, more power to him. The next raccoon that I catch in a live trap while raiding my barn cats' food should be dedicated to Jack Gangwish and receive a 12" crescent instead of a 22 between the eyes. Good lord people, nut up and stop acting like a bunch of metrosexuals.
  4. A Volt and a Prius?Hopefully 2 Volts, since they're completely awesome! I'm getting close to 1500 miles for every gallon that I burn. Don't be dissin' my Volt! ☺
  5. I feel like I'm watching old episodes of Max Headroom.
  6. I know it's Silly Season on Huskerboard, but this is one of the most nonsensical things I've read. In every aspect. It really is. I'm still trying to figure out all the different ways that it is just completely and totally insane. I can't even figure out what it means or where it came from. Did this get reported on Fox news or something bc/ it makes as much sense? Nebraska shares a border with Kansas.
  7. "I was wrong. " It earns a measure of respect when said, because it is apparently very difficult to say.
  8. Go ahead and whack mine too, because now I sound like the old guy yelling to get off his lawn.
  9. Yeah. Open practice to fans would get insane. Ii could see a lottery system for 50-100 visitors per practice. Charge a fee to attend practices, and then use the proceeds for a favorite charity like Team Jack.
  10. The new staff won't coach a single down until next September. Are we going to have to listen to this never-ending stream of bitching until then? I can understand that people aren't happy--hell, he wasn't my first choice either, but Jesus Christ.....give it a gd rest already. Bitch and vindicate yourself when we start getting clubbed next year. I swear to God that if I have to read this crap in every thread about a staff that hasn't called one down of football, I'm going to go batsh#t crazy.
  11. That doesn't even make sense. First, hasn't everyone with personal knowledge of the situation said that NO OFFER was made to that fat hog Bienema? Also, if, hypothetically speaking, Bienema was Eichorst's top target, then why would he go with a coach that was pretty much the antithesis of that fat slobbering underhanded Arkansas Hog? Is there anyone more opposite to Bret (fat f'ing hog) Bienema than Mike Riley? It seems like if Bret had been offered and refused, then we would have ended up with some slightly less successful version of him. Instead, we signed Mike Riley who everyone pretty much agrees is a decent guy who runs a clean program. I don't think our administrators at UNL are liars just because we didn't sign some coach who you seemingly have a weird sort of man-crush fat fetish on. Deal with it. But how do you feel about it, Nuance?
  12. I don't mean to sound flippant, but at this point, who cares? He's our coach, and we're going to have to live with the decision.
  13. Riley was on Alvarez's short list. It doesn't surprise me that he was on Eichorst's as well. I firmly believe that this was a done deal before Pelini was ever out the door. For obvious reasons, NU just had to make it look like it wasn't. When institutions are making strategic decisions on that level, they typically like to make damn sure of the outcome so they don't look stupid (especially after the Steve P debacle).
  14. Nothing was scripted. We heard the real Mike Riley this morning. His answers were genuine and off the cuff. I don't know about anyone else, but I find that refreshing.
  15. Until he starts laying eggs on the field, I think that he should get the benefit of the doubt from fans. Fair enough?
  16. Suffice to say, it doesn't sound like player development is going to be an issue with Riley. I am really looking forward to see what he can do with our quarterbacks. Stanton just got a huge early Christmas present, but don't rule Armstrong out just yet. Maybe a good QB coach is all it is going to take. Btw, I hadn't heard the "hunts geese with a rake" either--and I've been around awhile too. I'm filing that one along with Hedley's "chicken salad" for future reference. +1
  17. Bench him for the bowl. Show him that life has ramifications.
  18. Bo would have been easier for everyone to get over if he was here next year and tried to get 9 wins without Ameer. I have a feeling that next year would have been pretty rough on Bo. I'm all in on Riley. Let's see what he can do with these kids. He recruited Stanton, so things are going to get interesting.
