  1. NC fired their Head Coach, and when this happens, usually most if not all of the staff is replaced....just as it will probably be here..... He was an assistant who's fate was sealed by his HC......kind of like Watson this year......who, I hope Bo gives a chance to stay.
  2. For those who don't "know" Marvin Sanders.....he is a stud coach....I believe NU set a record in int's. the year he was DB coach......players loved him......many, including myself were probaly more upset that sanders didn't get a chance to stay on the staff..... This was a HUGE mistake initially by BC..... Sanders is a player's coach, went to NC to be DC and turn them around drastically....... He probably isn't iterested becuase of $$$$....he is still getting paid off for the NC job..... He needs to sit out of coaching 1 more year to be fully "invested in the state" (whatever the hell that means)...... It has been well publicized on 1620 the zone that Sanders will sit out 1 more year, and then return to coaching.... IMO, Marvin Sanders has been the best assistant coach NU has had since the TO days....yes, better than Ron Brown and possibly Gill... If for some reason, Sanders comes back a year early and forfeits a ton of $$$, then we are very lucky !!!
  3. If true......which is probably the case....... I am not thrilled....not disgusted either......on the fence.... I see a lot of good in Bo, but I also don't think he is the 2nd coming........ He really concerns me.. People just seem to think that because the D lack passion under Coz, that we need a "fire" guy......At DC, yes, but not as HC...... Hell, the Alamo Bowl all of the "lovers" like to refer to, we barely 17-3 beat a very very average Michigan State team, whose coach was a lunatic (John L. SMith)..... and during the game, the great Pelini got a 15 yd personal foul that put MSU into NU territory ....luckily, didn't cost us the game or put MSU "back into the game"...... He has no "people skills' and is a hot-head....... I will support Bo, and think that he will definatley get kids to run through walls......but NU could have done better as already stated....and if NOT, this program is a lot deeper in the hole than many of us would like to believe... I want to see Bo handle the hard-pressing questions after a loss, and see how his "people" skills come out... will he be like Mike Gundy and be a national joke for weeks......could be a PR nightmare..... But......could lead us to a Big 12 championship and put us back into the top 10 !!!!!! I told you, I am completely on the fence....but once TO makes this official.....Bo will be my man, and I will support him until he gives me a reason not to.....I hope everyone else who isn't sold on Bo will do the same thing...support him and the program....
  4. MCAT... I agree.... I think Turner will stay loyal t BU.....just saying that the whole idea of AD may not be as far fetched as some of the rumors.
  5. The whole idea of Turner being AD does make sense..... I mentioned this about a week ago..... I said that IMO, TO would love to "groom" Turner for the full time AD job....... With Tim Cassidy leaving today, this does have the potential of making sense....... I know that I am just shooting at the stars, and trying to make sense of everything....but, Turner could come in as Associate AD under TO for a year or two....make a lot more money than coaching.....and then TO would turn the job over to Turner.......at that point, if Bo is not getting the job done, and is let go, then Turner may have the opportunity to get back into coaching (okay, I know that is a very far reach, and probably extremely dumb to say)...... TO know that Turner is a man of integrity and is HIGHLY THOUGHT of in the state....... If Pud could raise $$$, people would be happy to open up the pocketbook for a guy like Turner I know all of the stuff is RUMOR, and Gill still may be our head coach, but the whole AD thing could realitically happen.
  6. 1620 the zone.....just interview Gary Barnett who is doing the Big 12 championship and at the end of the interview, he told the guys he felt it is Pelini's job...... I know we all want to "discredit" these guys, but 1. Pat Forde (college fb analyst...nationally....has a little insight 2. Collin Cowherd.....nation radio host with connections...... 3. Steven Sipple..... LJS with insight to program 4. Gary Barnett...... national tv analyst and former coach, still within the coaching circles.. As much as I really don't want Bo, I am beginning to think that the more media sources comment, the more I start to believe that maybe things are leaking.....
  7. It is absolutely fair to be concerned about his defense......but , at least he had the balls to aknowledge that it was very unacceptable.....this is fact....he made no excuses about injuries....he said changes will be made, becuae he was embarassed by the defense....... Sounds a lot different than the guy we just let go....in fact, I believe that if BC would have said the same thing as PJ, he still might be around.... I don't want to go back to the old-style offense, but face it.....teams that run the ball WIN...... you must run the stinkin football consistantly to WIN.... It is safe and demoralizing.... Navy once again leads the nation in rushing....... He knows how to throw the ball (Hawaii)....and will put a nice mix together.....
  8. I would assume that Bob Davie probably knows too.....according to some sources on this board, he bought a house in Lincoln just prior to BC being announced as HC.....He is probably trying to move that property...
  9. Is there an actual, factual interview set up with Johnson on Sunday as reported in "rumorville" earlier and the person who stated this, gave a link...sorry I can't remember it..... I just want to know if TO actually has a "scheduled interview" with Johnson......Does anyone know for sure....Looking for help here. I PJ does have a legit interview, then don't count this guy out !!!! TO would not bring a guy in to just have a token interview....He is too classy for that, and doesn't have to answer to anyone regarding the # of interviews.... Does this guy have an interview set up?
  10. This is actually a very possible scenario...... I thnk Turner is very upstanding, and people do feel loyalty to their "first" employer.... especially a school that took a chance on you to lead their program......Gill may very well have told TO that he want to keep building Buffalo..... He has seen the doormat, and if they keep improving (some say they are the favorite to win the MAC next yr), then Gill deserves ALL of the credit.... If he is here, some other coach will get the credit of taking Buffalo to their 1st MAC title or bowl..... I can easily see Gill wanting to stay for loyalty and personal satisfaction....we all know how committed Gill is to young men..... Don't believe to an instant that this will be Gill's ONLY chance to coach at NU.....yes, NU might be his dream job..... but regardless of what we all may want, guys like TO, Paterno, Bowden are ALL GONE...... and the days of "revolving door" are here. $$$ is too big in every case.....If guys win, they get offers they just financially can't refuse, and if they do not win, they are gone..... Whoever coaches at NU will probably be here for 4-8 years....if we aren't winning, he is gone, welcome back Gill if he chooses...... If the new coach takes NU back to the promisedl land, then he will have offers all around the country.... Believe it or not, other jobs may be more attractive to certain people.... If it is Pelini, and he wins, he might have his "own" dream job somewhere else. Face it, the NU job will open up agian (maybe a few times) before Gill is done coaching..... If he decided to turn down an offer, he will absolutely get another shot someday....and he probably knows this.... If TO was aware of this scenario, then he interview Gill out of respect and love for the man....
  11. I think that he will coach at a "High level".......... the High School level... oh, not really.....he'll land somewhere probably as everyone is saying, NFL or D-II
  12. Well, ABSOLUTELY.... then I'll type..... "I told you so"
  13. Well, if the links are correct, I would venture to say that TO has already made up his mind....... I truly trust TO, but I will be pissed if somehow SMU cracks the top 15-25 within the next 4-5 years, and we didn't give this guy a look......
  14. It hasn't been talked about on the board for a day or so, but does PJ REALLY have an interview this weekend, or is this just another "Rumor".... They mentioned it on 1620 the zone today, but Kugler "wants" PJ to coach, so I was not sure if the interview is truth or those guy's jokingly bs.... Just looking for info..... And, if PJ REALLY does have an interview, then what does this mean. I have a hard time believing that TO would bring a man in and waste everyone's time if BP or TG have already agreed or been offered.... if there is no confirmation of this "interview", then I think decision is made, but if interview is confirmed by a reliable source (no knapplc, not your step-sister's cousin), I think it is still up in the air....
  15. Thanks for the info...... I wondered if it was a caller or host.... still nothing more than speculation, but you answered my question.....thanks
  16. My athletic director told me this "rumor" after school today....he usually relies on me for all of the info (usually stuff I take from this board)..... He was sitting in his car listening to sports talk radio (out of omaha)....got out and told me the "latest rumor"...... It was that Bo was HC and Gill OC......we have all heard-discussed this at nausium, but he heard it on the radio..... just wanting to know if anyone was listening to Big sports 590 or 1620 the zone this afternoon and heard anything like this.... I listened to 1620 after 4:00, but heard nothing... He even went as far as saying Gill was/is making $180,000 at BU and will be offered $400,00 to be the OC at NU..... was told if NU gets turned around, TO would make sure that Gill's name would be circulated among top jobs in country.... Now, I know this is making me sick too, just wanting to know if anyone heard this rumor talked about or disspelled on any talk radio today.... was it a "host" or "caller" with this idea, or some "analyst"... Question Part 2: If it is Bo, wouldn't TO be smart to announce just prior to SEC game....think of all of the free pub. that we would get....everytime Bo is shown, you know the announcers will refer to him as the new NU coach.....backfire if they get lit up... I do understand that if Bo is the guy, it was probably under the condition that the announcement doesn't come prior to the game, but just think of the pub......TO is also too classy to take away from the SEC game.. This is the 1st and only "rumor" I have posted, so don't rip me..... I am actually asking questions, not starting a rumor...
  17. knapplc....... I have followed this board for many years, and very recently read almost all of your posts.....you seem to be one who questions sources and dispells (sp) rumors.....so I think that the fact that you are putting this out there proves that it MAY have some validity...... You are not know for "throwing" stuff around....and I appreciate the fact that you acknowledge this is still just a "rumor" but does come from boosters..... AND..... If this turns out to be the case, I would be one big HAPPY HUSKER FAN !!!!! It would be awesome... Paul Johnson has been the guy I wanted all along..... I have said that he would need to bring a solid d-coord. with him, and Bo fits the bill......I have also wanted NU to keep Watson aboard...he did good things at CU and I think he is a players coach.... If you are right....." I love you man"...(former Bud-light reference) If you are wrong..... " I hope you get kicked in the jimmy"..... (not really)
  18. The previous years that it has cost the confernece the possible title shot, it was truly unfortunate.... this year, it will be too bad for our conference if MU doesn't win and get in...... I don't undestand how a 1 loss Ohio State, who plays in the big 10 (which actually sucks top to bottom worse than the big 12)..... gets in over a team like KU...... I know that KU's season schedule was horrible, but their only loss was to the nation's current #1 on a neutral field, and if they hit 2 fg or don't turn it over inside the 20 and 2, they have a chance to win..... (I know it's all part of the game)....but.... a 1 lost KU team that losses to the #1 team by 6 points on a nuetral field, gets shut out by Ohio State who loses to Illinois at home..... Illinois played well, but they are no MU..... I don't disagree with your points, I just think that unless every BCS conference plays a CCG, then it really isn't fair..... teams get to sit at home and not play a top 10 team, and maybe back into the game..... MU had to beat #1-2 KU, now turn around and play a top 15 team OU..... where WV gets to play a low rank Pittsbugh (27 point favorite) and Ohio State sits and eat popcorn..... I like the title game, but someone needs to put pressure on the Big 10 (11) to have a championship game.
  19. Just of coulple of points to ponder..... I have pointed out that I'm not sure that I want either Bo or Turner, but will rally and support either if TO hires one..... Bo concerns me because of his personality....yes, he is a "fire" guy and automatically some think that this is good (defensive fire)... I think he loses control of his temper easily.....not a good trait at all for a HC.... who needs to stay "within himself", just like the great QB's...... If you remember, Bo took a 15 yd. penalty during this "great" Alamo Bowl that we only won 17-3 over a meiocure MSU team...to take a 15 yd penalty in a close game is NOT SMART !!! He lost control at the end of KSU and called Snyder an a-hole on tv.....whether or not we all agree with the assessment, there are certain responsibilities of being a leader of young men.....CLASS !!!! the stuff NU has built it's rep. on... This is my concern with Bo...... furthermore, hell, I would look good if I had players like Dorsey at DE..... It is easy to look good with great "horses"... Now, to look good with the players at Navy, Cinc., or WF....that's coaching !!!!! Tell me a place where Bo didn't begin with "great-top-notch" athletes and actually had to build them.....No place he has coached has had less than stellar athletes..... unlike Gill, Johnson, Kelley, Grobe Turner Gill is MAC COY.... I know this doesn't mean a lot, but to take Buffalo to 4-5 wins is amazing... heard a report on 1620 yesterday with a beat writer who says Buffalo will compete for the conf. title next year.... most of his starters are freshman and sophomores, whom this writer said "are Big East caliber athletes".... Gill went into a sh!t hole and convicned these fairly decent athletes to come play for him...... It's not hard for Bo to bring guys to LSU, NU, OU..... Remember, I am not sure I want either TG or Bo.....just throwing meaningless opinions out for thought.
  20. Addison.....point well taken..... I would like to think that he would "adjust" to the ahletes we have and that once he has the abiltity to coach higher quality than GS, Hawaii, and Navy, that he would "open it up a little"....but I understand your concerns, especially the numbers you posted... I still want this guy, and hope that he can expand his play-book......... You are very correct on having a "come-back" offense....extremely important aspect we missed during the Frank era, and even the TO days...
  21. Hukser runner..... I agree with you, which makes me believe even more that TO truly didn't have any "pre-determined" decision made... He interview Bo and TG because they have earned the right, and they have obvious NU ties.....but TO surely wouldn't just fly around and interview top-notch candidates like Kelley and then reprtedly wait to interview Johnson on Sunday if he was ready to announce Bo...... TO would not waste everyone's time..... He has too much integrity..... Bo-TG may eventually get the job, but I think TO will really give it to the person he feels comfortable with...... These interviews may confirm the condfidence he has in either Bo or Gill.....who knows.... Personally I would like Kelley or Johnson over Bo-Gill......Just my OPINION....not right, not wrong
  22. Addison.....I truly understand your concern about becoming 3 yard/cloud of dust team..... I just believe that PJ has shown the ability to coach different philosophies to fit the athletes he has....If he comes in, I just see him using our athletes to the best of their ability...meaning I bet you would see a "spread" offense with some read option thrown in to off-set pass rushes and to utilize Ganz-Lee..... Personally, I really think a team needs to be able to run the ball 60%-40% in order to give themselves a chance to be successful at the National level......I too, at times enjoyed watching the WCO whenever those crossing routes would sprin open, but for the life of me, I would get tired of watching BC throw 8-9 consecutive passes because we could NOT run the ball effectively or the fact that he just didn't want too. I still think that if he would have run the ball on 2nd - 3 from the CU 27 yard line in the 1st qtr. , in the 1st half, instead of throwing 8 consecutive times, we would have had scored on that drive instead of coming up empty after 4-3 delay of game....incompetion.... If you look at the teams at the top...they run the ball very effectively...... When you can line up- run the ball- the weather doesn't nearly play a factor....and it demoralizes the defense..... Goes back to the philosophy: "When you throw a pass, only 4 things can happen, and 3 (sack, inc., int) are BAD."..... Whether or not people like it...the option is fun to watch and is very, very difficult to defend.....I am not talking about the NU of "glory days"....although it was tough to stop then....but I am speaking of the spread and read options that WV has taken to the title game, Florida took to the NC last year, and many teams used to gash our D this year. I am with you all the way about "regressing" backwards, but I really don't have a problem with a run 1st coach....and I think PJ will do both and do them well at NU.
  23. This guy would probably find the strengths of Ganz, Lee or Witt and see what his backs can do as far as catching the ball (Lucky)..... and determine the strength of the OL and build off of that..... We know that the WR have potential, but don't necessarily block well..... I could see the "spread" with a lot of read option..... West Virginia style.... Please hire Paul Johnson.....and hopefully he will bring in a HUGE defensive coordinator..... maybe a Mike Stoops who will be looking for a job...
  24. This is the guy that I really want..... I just noted on another thread that I thought Kelley (Cinc.) would also be okay, but I really would like to see Johnson get a "serious" look...... if TO doesn't think he fits, then so be it, but at least give this guys decent shot at the job !!! He has been my #1 for weeks now....this is great news !!!!! just my OPINION
  25. I would like to have Kelley...... He wins..... His name is being mentioned all over for big time jobs.... Michigan being the #1 job..... I think TO and NU deserve to at least take a look at guys like Kelley, Johnson, and hopefully Peterson (Boise St.)....... I don't mind the "in-house" connections, but these guys can coach....
