  1. I have seen these girls play a handful of times this season (like most of you), and this group is as talented as any team that NU has had.... I think that NU wins, but a sweep may not happen... Both of these teams are too good to expect a sweep by either team..... NU will win in 4 (3-1). If we can survive the 1st game, things will roll. Go Big Red
  2. Congrats to Coach Gill.. Just saw (actually my wife just saw) on ESPNU that Gill was named head coach at Buffalo !! I know that there is already a thread that is somewhat devoted to this, but I felt that Turner Gill deserves his own thread.... I am extremely happy for him. I also think it is great that he and Frank are in the same conference.... Good luck to Coach Gill..... He deserves this opportunity .
  3. Now that the bowl has been set, tickets are flying off of the shelf, I thought I would ask if anyone on the board is making the trip? KC Husker and I are headed down..... I don't know our schedule (we don't have one ) , but I am sure that we would probably find time to meet up with board members for a drink somewhere... Although we were at almost every game, I was unable to attend any of the Huskerboard tailgates.... I am disappointed about that, so if anyone else is going, maybe we'll work something out.
  4. As much as I hate to admit it, this is a great hire ..... I believe that he may be the perfect fit for the situation... I think he will clean house, and with his reputation, it won't take long to re-fill the house... Boise has had very good teams with less talent... I for one am a little concerned what may happen when this guy gets the type of talent that revolves around the Big 12.... But, I am excited to see what BC does when our talent level increases..... I also think a young Ron Prince may eventually be the answer for KSU.... Agree with Huskerstag, it may not be long that NU, CU, KSU begin to flex their muscle in the Big 12..... the North really needs a few teams to step up... As much as I want NU to win the North every year, until the North gets better, and yes, this includes KSU-CU, the champion will get no respect.... I want NU to win a tough division.

WOW, I am impressed.... All you Husker guys really "outfacted" another doubter.. I really don't need to respond at all..... Congrats fellow Huksers..... The more the UM supporters try to justify their argument, the deeper the hole they dig...... Keep em coming guys !!!
  6. Does anyone else notice that as soon as we offer great arguments against these guys's post, they don't respond ???????? They haven't touched the "97 game for quite awhile now....... and as soon as we point out that they are "fair-weathered", they disappear... I mean, sh!t, if you are going to come onto a Husker message board, at least be ready to defend yourself!
  7. Man I am glad you guys jumped on this thread in a positive way !!! Taylor deserves to get this type of support !!!!! And Huskeruguy4, I don't necessarily disagree totally, but my god, did you pay attention last November and look at this board during the month of October? I am not saying that it is a fact that the program would be ruin the program, but if you don't agree that this program would be in trouble, then you are not realistic at all.... If we had not gone to a bowl, Husker Nation would be crying for BC's head big time.... hell, some still are.... How can you possibly recruit when the state is calling for your job...... the words "hot-seat" scare recruits, and ESPN were throwing that around prior to KSU..... A losing season would have been disasterous bar none !!!!!
  8. I stated on another thread that I personally felt that Taylor is savior of this program..... people where/are debating JUCO guys, and I stated that if we didn't take chances on JUCO's , we would have never found this guy... I know that this is bold, but Taylor may single handily saved the NU football program !!!!!! Once everything is said and done, years from now, we will look at Zac Taylor as one of the most IMPORTANT qb to EVER play at Nebraska No, he isn't as talented as Gill, Frazier, Crouch, but he is every bit as IMPORTANT, and may be even MORE important than these guys were (except Frazier).... He will not win the Heisman or win NC ,but he saved this program... Without Taylor, we would not have a winning season or be going to a bowl.... And 2 consecutive seasons like that would have killed this programs spirit, recruiting, and in all likelyhood set us back 5-6 years.. Taylor is one tough SOB, and he has shown that he loves to play.. What he has done, is show the Husker Nation that the WCO has a CHANCE to work. We owe this kid a ton of thanks. We should be talking about him instead of all the threads on Beck... Beck may be great in his time, but Taylor saved this program, and he deserves the praise !!
  9. I don't see the big deal....... Everyone keeps referring to Kansas State whenever they don't agree with all of the JUCO's..... So what !!!!!! I completely understand the draw-backs such as a kid may not pan out, and he may only have 1 good yr....... Hey , wihtout the JUCO route, we wouldn't have won 3 games this year....Even Beck says that he wasn't even close to being ready to play..... Taylor is an absolute savior for now !!!! He may have single handily SAVED this program I know that is a huge statement, but if we don't win 6-7 games and go to a bowl, this program would be way down in the dumps !!!! JUCO guys can play, and I will take my chances on these guys, expecially if you need immediatel help (I believe we had a JUCO Heisman winner - Rozier) And the KSU arguement makes absolutely NO SENSE to me.... Now, I hate those bast@rds more than anyone, but why is the comparison so negative? Last time I checked, KSU kicked ass during the last decade with JUCO guys !!!!!!! Man, that would suck.... They contended for the Big 12 and NC (or top 5), using JUCO kids...... IMO, the reason KSU has dropped has nothing to do with the JUCO route !!!! Does anyone realize that Snyder lost many good assistant coaches during the past 5 years, and those guys not only could coach, but they were GREAT RECRUITERS.... the fact that the these coaches are not there anymore is why KSU dropped.. The JUCO route hasn't "cost" them anything IMO.... I like the High School kids, and we should focus mainly on these guys, but is is okay to bring at least 7-8 JUCO guys a year..... you can survive with this mix.
  10. I think his question was more of "who are we still targeting" then who the coaches want. I think that's what he is asking..i could be wrong Sure, I obviously know that you can't really ask "who do the coaches 'want' " As Nameless states, I was just wondering whom we are "targeting" for these positions... I know that Purify/Maclin appear to be the guys we are after for the WR spot.... I wanted to find a few names that we may be targeting for the DB... Or maybe "who we have the best shot of landing" would be a better way to ask. I appreciate the info.

We are still waiting for a reply !!!!! By the lack of replies, is one to consider the fact that the Point may be proven, in the 'hypothetical" world (that really means nothing), that NU was the better team.. I know that UM fans will never admit it, but since it seems that we have "out-facted" them, and their lack of arguement, that maybe this is no longer an issue. NU = '97 National Champs by "Coaches" (guys who know football)
  12. I know that I could comb through a lot of different threads and put the pieces together, but it is easier to ask... This is for anyone who has info....., but it seems as if Nameless and Hootin have pretty good info..... Nameless stated that with the 6 remaining schollies left, we would probably target a WR (Purify or Maclin), OT, RT and 3 defensive backs.. I am asking, who do you guys think will fill these final 6 slots.... OR should I ask, who are the guys we are still targeting at this time for these spots... Thanks for the info.
  13. Sounds very close to what would call "fair -weather" Good = BCS = we follow Fair = 7-4 = Alamo = probably won't follow... I thought Notre Dame had the largest alumni fan base? * not arguing with you, I honestly don't know.... I thought I read that ND is the largest.
  14. Well sorry.. we are better than you. BIG TEN FOOTBALL... Leading the way before, during, and after the game hehe - Pompass Ass I can not and will not argue the fact that the Big 10 is a better football conference this year or probably the past few years..... It is obvious that the big 10 is better this yr.... Don't need a rocket scientist If you look through history though, I would beg to differ...but it would be a waste of time to begin that arguement....... With that said, Nebraska would have done EXTREMELY well in the big 10 during the 70-80-90..... To disagree with that statement would be "closed minded"...... I didn't say "win" the big 10, I said would have done extremely well..... And, if you would read beyond the front of your nose (which I would hope that anyone that has "Creighton" in their name could), you would see that in almost all of my posts on this board say that I think that Michigan is not a good match up for NU...... Michigan is very good, and NU will have to play very well to be in the game.... I am just pointing out the fact that people (like yourself) may "say" that you respect NU, but then absolutely will refuse to say that NU is capable of winning. In your mind, NU will not win, but rather, UM may lose.... Consequently, NU isn't even in your equation. It is okay if you say the Big 10 will lead the way before, during, and after the game... because all of college football has been "following" Nebraska for almost 3 decades...."FACT"...... And we will be back, and that is why poeple are "piling on " now.

Yep, you are correct FF..... Terry Fair was another NFL guy, and started DB for the volunteers..... my bad.. Just goes to show, how many NFL guys that the Vols had on that team..... NU dominated them, and in all honesty, would have dominated Michigan that year.. That is not being "biased" as some have said, that is being football intelligent....
  16. The only tix still available are way up in the corner. I wont pay that and sit way up there. We just got ours today (12-7) and we are not way up in the corner... My wife went through the Qwest and we are only 3 rows into the upper bowl, not in the corner. The only thing is, we are at the end of the court ("endzone" seats )... but only 3 rows deep... $ 30 for all sessions.... not bad, to see Florida-Louisville and NU - UCLA and then Sat. night final... Aren't those first come, first serve.seat...general admission I am not positive, but I don't think so.... the ticket has section, row , and seat # on it.... I am pretty sure, they are not "gen. ad", but hey, I very well could be wrong... I will find out tomorrow night.....

Since you are so into dropping NFL names: Tennesse Offense: Mannning, Jamal Lewis, Pearless Price, Shaun Bryson, Chad Clifton, Cosey Coleman, Trey Teague, Horace Copeland, Eric Parker, Nash = 10 starters....oh by the way 10 NFL guys, more than 1/2 are ALL-PRO and yes, Nebraska shut them down ....HARD !!!!! I am sure Greise and company were probably better Tennesse Defense: Leonard Little, Shawn Ellis, Rynoch Thompson, Al Wilson, Johnathon Brown...... oh, that would be 4 LB and a DE that are all NFL guys, and yes, a few ALL PRO...... Your guys were good, but c'mon, these guys were just as good Tennessee was 11-1 and in the top 5..... NU DOMINATED them..... Don't forget, NU 8 players on D...that are in NFL: Wiltz, Rucker, Wistrom, Swiney, Warfield, M. Brown, R. Brown..... and yes, a few ALL - PRO !!!!! Once agian, I still say 35 points for NU...... Option at the time was almost impossible to stop when it began to roll !!!! So much for "name dropping"
  18. OUTSTANDING !!!!! I wasn't expecting to see anything on TO.... I was unaware of anything that had been planned.... Pretty nice tribute.... TO is the man, and always will be in my heart.... He is the reason I chose coaching as a career..... My Idol
  19. It amazes me at the gall of some fans...... A few Michigan fans claim they "respect" NU, but yet they are a year or two away.... Okay, I can live with that statement, and furthermore, there is some truth to that statement... BUT....... paraphrase : "If UM shows up to play, UM wins...period... and if UM does play , NU may win......" Sounds like it is all up to UM , and has nothing to do with the way NU plays.... Really sounds like you guys "respect" NU ?????? Whatever happened to , if NU wins, maybe they just outplayed, or out-coached UM.... or maybe NU might not be as bad as some of the UM fans think.... As far as I am concerned, some of these guys can take their pompass big 10 asses elswhere...... I respect the big 10.... I like the "power" football they play....but enough of the "we are better than you crap"
  20. Can't say that I really blame MIchigan fans for being pissed... Just think, if NU beats one of their conference rivals (say KSU), and then on selection day, a New Years Bowl chooses KSU over NU, we would be livid !!!!! The fact that Iowa got thte better bid has to piss UM off big time... It really has nothing to do with NU, but thte fact that they are angery at the bowl situation. NU is just getting the brunt of the anger...... very well could help the Huskers big time. On the other hand, Michigan fans have apparently brought this on themselves.. For being a football mainstay, the Outback made no secret that they selected Iowa because Michigan fans haven't traveled well..... $$$$$$$$$, all about $$$$$$ Let them be pissed, let them moan, let them bad-mouth NU, let them predict an ass whooping.......... LET NU JUST GO ABOUT THEIR BUSINESS , AND LET MICHIGAN FANS LEAVE SAN ANTONIO, DOUBLY PISSED after NU hands it to a team who has nothing to play for.

Okay, this is against my better judgement (I had a short, good spritited rant concerning letting this yr. go on another thrread), I can't pass this opportunity up... I tink the '97 team definately "peaked" at the right time....In addition, no matter who they played in the bowl game, this team was not going to lose !!!!! They were a very good team, and they were playing for approx. 3 decades of Husker football.... This team was as focused as I have ever seen a team... TO was going to win his last game.....FINAL.... Michigan had a very good team, and I admire their program, but in that game, they would have been beaten soundly..... maybe not because of less talent, because that wasn't the case, but because of heart, desire, and focus.... If NU's defense shut down Manning and Co., they would have really shut down Greise and the gang...... Furhtermore, Tennessee's defense was one of the best in the country (ton of NFL guys), and NU made them quit by the middle of the 3rd quarter..... NU = 35 Michigan = 17 Undisputed National Champs * No disrespect to the Woolverines.....
  22. The only tix still available are way up in the corner. I wont pay that and sit way up there. We just got ours today (12-7) and we are not way up in the corner... 23. I believe at the beginning of the season everyone was just asking for improvement... and in the middle of the season when NU was struggling, once again, the complainers (ff-Benard) were asking for improvement.... Wait..... 7-4, tied for 2nd in the North....Alamo Bowl vs No Bowl.....passing records vs turnover records....... Nation leading sacks and tackles for losses vs no D-line.... Huh, can't figure it out.....SOUNDS LIKE IMPROVEMENT It is funny that you ask for improvement, but then when it gets here, some people find something else to complain about.... No, order is NOT restored, but it very well could be on the way...... if you read what the shirt says... it does NOT say that the job is complete yet....... I am satisfied with the results this year (improvement).... but as KC said, now we need to keep moving forward
  24. appreciate the well wishes My dad and I went to the Florida - NU game too....it was my first bowl game.... I think it may have been the best game-trip of my life....we had a great time before-during and after the game at bars. Hell, I think I was doing the gator chop more than UF fans..... Great experiences that will last a life-time....that is why being a "sports" fan is rewarding..... the people you meet and the experiences that you can have... Bummer about working 24 hr shifts....maybe something will work out
