  1. Opie? By the way..Where is Mayberry and how close is it to Clemson? And what is this Basketball you speak of? That's not those pebble grained orange balls we played war-ball (Dodge-ball) with in the offseason are they? That was fun. I Hate Baseball with a passion (Didn't get my first hit until Co-ed Softball in college) Anyone try Cryogenics? OP=Oliver Purnell I know you were kidding, but there is no Mayberry, NC. They always mentioned a Mount Pilot on the show and there is a Pilot Mountain in North Carolina. Andy Griffith went to UNC. Do a google search for,"What it was was football", and listen to it. It is an early recording Griffith did describing the first football game a hick had ever seen. Here is the recording ........
  2. The football talk now is about trying to put this recruiting class back together and filling out the coaching staff. We got a shot in the arm yesterday with DC from Bama comming on board and the WR commit from the Army Allstar game. We only have ten commits right now, but they are all quality. Talking basketball is taking over because the team is 14-0 right now and we start ACC play within the week. Football, baseball and basketball are always our main points of interest. I guess soccer has been the best sport for us over the years with 2 national titles in the 80's. Baseball we make the series a lot, but have never won it. We average 4-5 thousand in attendance for most baseball games.
  3. Stay safe over there and know that most of us here at home understand and appreciate your sacrifice. It's tough being so far away from loved ones.
  4. And it is pretty bad when they do it, and everyone that was from Clemson on this board never even mentioned it. It was hard to see when the ball came loose, but the knee was probably down before it did. The play we needed to make was the TD pass Spiller dropped at the end. Any close game there are always one or two plays that would change the game. You made yours and we didn't.
  5. I hate losing, but we lost to a great team. Your coaches really got the offense rolling in the 2nd half and we just couldn't make enough plays. I expected a hard hitting game and I think both teams left everything on the field. Good luck next season.
  6. Its always sounded like a wussy injury to me, but I think it must be much worse than it sounds. Never had it myself though, wrestling was my sport and turftoe is one of the few injuries that wrestlers dont get that often Take off your shoe and kick the door jam with your big toe hard enough to make the joint purple and then see how easy it is to run or even walk. You have to remember that under that artificial turf is asphault.
  7. I was in no way trying to say that Spiller's speed would translate in to production. If he is contained at the line of scrimmage there is nowhere to go. I expect Nebraska to scheme to close down the running lanes. We need to get the ball to Kelly, Spiller and Ford on some quick out routs or underneath passes off play action just behind the LB's. If we can get the ball to these guys in the open field we can cause some trouble. The last thing I expect Clemson to do is ram the ball down the defenses throat. We haven't shown the strength to do that this year even though the OL does average over 320lbs. I also am worried that nebraska can power the ball inside because of the short passing game keeping the defenders honest. I am guessing we play zone and go man with blitzes just enough to keep the QB guessing. It should be a great game and doubt there will be any more physical a game on that day. Should be a lot of collisions. I wish I could play in it even though I would be carried off in the first quarter. Good Luck. Those making the trip be safe.
  8. Nuff said Nuff said I those videos Helu looks a lot like our RB James Davis. Good field vision and hard to tackle, but not a burner speed wise. The difference with spiller is that if he gets one step ahead he is gone. The only times anyone came close to catching him was vs Auburn a DB ran behind him for about 40 yards without losing much ground and vs Duke a DB almost did catch him when he was recovering from a pulled hamstring. He is full speed now. Here is a video with more than one play. http://video.google.com/videosearch?hl=en&...ision&cd=1#
  9. I don't believe Spiller runs a 4.25 40 and I absolutely don't believe the other guy runs a 4.12. Like yea, he runs a 9.0 100M, shoulda been in the Olympics that guy. I have no idea what Spiller or Ford's true 40 times are. I do know that since they both ran track Ford had the fastest 60 meter time in the nation last year and ran a best of 10.21 in the 100m. Spiller ran a 10.28 in the 100m I believe. On the field in pads Spiller looks faster because he stops and goes back to full speed so quickly.
