  1. Hasnt USC been under alot of pressure from the NCAA on a bunch of legal issues, and didnt it also come out about the same time that Reggie Bush got picked up by the Saints?
  2. I actually had hype over this movie, i havent seen it yet, but from what im hearing (and there is alot of it). This movie is a classic Bay movie, lots of action, very little plot. With those two things, ill save my money and wait for it to come out on DVD and watch it over at a friends house.
  3. I have faith in our OL, we got good depth at it, and some returning starters. Helu's words just gives me re-assurance that this season is gonna rock! I had no doubts back during the spring and i still dont have any doubts now. GO HUSKERS!
  4. If my understanding is correct, Justin is a Junior this year, and i guess after sitting on the bench for the last two years, and no sign of getting some playing time, i guess he will play somewhere else. Though he could have just made a position change or something. Jordan i believe is either a Freshman or Sophomore, i cant remember of the top of my head, but i do know he is playing the RB position. I dont know though, at 6-1 240lbs, im sure Makovicka could have switched sides of the ball and seen some playing time. Good luck to him though where ever he goes.
  5. I absolutely agree on that note. We fought the British for our freedom, why cant other countries do the same? I dont think the US should get into the Iranian conflict, the people just need to keep fighting for what they want. I truly think that unless someone is conflicting with our interests or the interests of our allies, they become a threat and should be dealt with. This would constitute a peaceful scenario with Iran, but an agressive solution to North Korea, but why should we be the only ones to do something about it. Let Russia and China do some dirty work for once.
  6. Thats so sad dude, to see someone that young try to stand up for her ideals and be killed in the process. Its pretty clear that the people of the nation arent very supportive of their government. Iran is either gonna turn out two ways, things will get resolved the peaceful way (assassination) or it will turn out somewhat like Iraq did. But thats just my theory.
  7. North Korea has always been a problem, even when i was stationed in Okinawa for 4 years. But quite frankly, since relations went sour back in what, the late 90's? This has to be the most hostile statements that they have made. It seems pretty obvious that North Korea is pressing buttons, and if nothing is going to be done about it, i feel that North Korea is gonna be the whiny baby threatening to go ape$#!* if they dont get their way.
  8. i could go on a rant here, but im not. I will look at myself as a mature individual who will mourn the loss of a great entertainer and pay not attention to lame jokes about him.
  9. Thats sad, especially after i was listening to "Can You Feel It?" pretty much all night last night. Weird, that he passes away just a few hours later. Truly an extremely talented individual that brought joy and entertainment to generations. He is in a much better place now. Godspeed Michael Jackson.
  10. Eh, true to a point, Suh wont have Potter or Ty back this year, but it doesnt mean that he will have unexperienced and untalented DL around him. He'll have Turner, Moore, Williams, Allen, Crick, and the other Steinkuhler along his side, but like you said, we will see what happens this year. Now that you mention it, Carriker did have help on the DL when he played, everyone remembers Jay Moore, right?
  11. Well im saying that the days of seeing Miami, FSU, Florida, Georgia, Virgina Tech making a run for it seems to have been limited for the past few years, leaving teams such as Texas, Oklahoma, and lets not forget a few years Kansas looked good for a NC title, but lost their chance at the end of the season (cant remember who they lost to).
  12. Wow, this topic seems to have been taken out of context here. When i first read this i believed the overall board agreed that current uniform and helmets we have are perfectly fine. But it was my understanding, that IF the uniforms were going to change (which i think if it was going to happen, it would be the school's decision, not the fans), we were throwing ideas out there of what we fans would like to see. I dont think anyone here is calling for a uniform change, therefore i dont see a point in everyone getting rowdy over the topic. The only thing i saw, was someone suggesting the throwback version being worn for a game, which is just a copycat of what the NFL does on Thanksgiving games. I dont think it will be impletmented, cuz lets face it, NCAAF is not the NFL NCAAF = Tradition and Football. NFL = Entertainment and Money.
  13. ugh, coming from the military i know how it is, it seems the majority of the military routs for Texas Longhorns...grrrrr. Good to know im not the only Husker fan in the military, haha.
  14. Thats only because the SEC and ACC have been slacking lately. haha.
  15. i i hope no one thinks that Suh sucks, but i think the point he is trying to make is that Suh is better than Carriker, but if Carriker was under the coaching staff we have now, he probably would have been on the same level as Suh.
  16. Im not calling for a change of helmets by NU, but if they were gonna change them and wanted our input, i would vote not to change the design, but just invert the colors, maybe a red helmet with white "N" on the side of it?
  17. Exactly. Great point buffs. NU used to be able to pick and choose from just about anywhere in the country-the rise of USC definetely doesn't help Nebraska....neither does Texas and Oklahoma and the way they continue to bring in top 10 classes. As long as this continues, I really don't see anyone from the North coming out undefeated with a shot at the NC. Thats why i think its going to take a good 5-6 seasons to even have a shot at the BCS championship. First thing is to consistently win the Big 12 North and make an appearance in the Big 12 Championship, once you win the Big 12 Championship on a conistent basis then you can start looking for a National Championship bid. NU has a long steady history at being the top in the nation, and many young kids dont know that, but coaches do, and once NU starts to show its a powerhouse and starts shutting up big name teams, it perks the ears of young kids.
  18. My gut, for some reason, tells me that we will be running the ball more than passing this year... anyone agree?
  19. statistically, Carriker is better, but Suh hasnt finished his career yet. Suh has the potential to surpass Carriker in the record books in sacks and TFL's. But i should say that Carriker only played 4 seasons for Nebraska, and this will be Suh's fifth year since he had a medical reshirt in 2005, i guess 2005 doesnt really count. Besides Suh's best year outweighs Carriker's best year while playing at NU. Althethically and potential-wise, Suh beats Carriker, but not by much. I gotta give Carriker some slack he was being coached under an idiot (Callahan).
  20. I wont address the QB spot, because that would tedious and boring. haha. The RB spot is one i dont need to mention, Helu will start, and if he gets tired or hurt, Castille will step in. So i think we are covered. FB - well, someone has to replace Lawson, either Hays or Makovicka will do. Suhhhhhhhh.... WR - Brooks will start, along with Holt and Paul. The key is who plays behind them? and as it has been said, there is a good deal of talented receivers behind them, Henry, Bell, Kinnie, Mendoza, Gilleylen, and lets not forget Safety Adam Watson made the switch to WR now, so the list goes on. TE - Mike McNeill could single-handling hold the TE position this year, but heaven-forbid something happens, Hill and Reed are right there as well. The OL - the only thing i have to say about this is the only trouble spots is Christensen, who is getting back into shape and looking good for fall camp, and Jaivorio Burkes still isnt clear to play yet, but other than that, alot of the OL we say last year, comes back this year. I dont see any trouble at all.
  21. It was brought up that the Coverage team only had 6 interceptions last year, and what Bo was doing to improve that. The response was that last year they didnt have depth in the coverage team and there was alot of young and inexperienced players out there, and he felt that last year was an harsh introduction to what the NU coverage was up against, he said they were conditioning to be quicker, work on their techniques and there is more depth now in the coverage. I feel that the secondary will be better than last year, but the question really is, how much better will they be? From the way the coaches were talking at the end of the spring game, the DL and LB core is very good and is expected to have no problems going into the fall camp. Keep in mind that other 6 interceptions last year came from the DL and LB core, and Suh was the only one to get TD's from those interceptions. The only starter we lost this year was Armando Murillo, and thats it. Blue, West, O'Hanlon, Asante, Thernarse, Hagg, Akumakara are all back this year, and are expected to have improved over the spring and summer season.
  22. First of all, every team is inconsistent when it comes to wins, USC will soon learn this as soon as Pete Carroll retires, mark my words. I mean lets think about it, Nebraska had its downs before the 70's, but it had great years afterwards. Nebraska is just in a slump, and as it has been said, it takes time to rebound, you cant base a return to former glory for one season, it takes awhile before it is seen that team is on a winning streak. Now i believe there is expectations and there is reality, everyone has different expectations some closer to reality than others. Alot of NU fans want to see another BCS championship, and soon. Probably to shut Mizzou and Texas fans up. But we have to realize that it takes time. Now i believe what Bo Pelini said before spring practice game, that NU will make a bigger jump than it did last year. I see NU competing for the Big 12 North spot, i only see one obstacle keeping that from happening, and thats Mizzou. The next obstacle is winning the Big 12 championship, which i dont see that happening this year, Texas and Oklahoma are just too damn good right now. But i feel that either 2010 or more so 2011, will be the year that winning the Big 12 Championship is more of a reality. But on that note, anything, and i mean ANYTHING can happen between that time. I personally think that NU has a potential to make it to the Big 12 Championship within the next few seasons, and maybe a good 5-6 seasons down the line is when Nebraska can have a shot at a BCS championship.
  23. If Nebraska stopped playing football, i would never watch college football again. Id watch another sport, seeing how i think the NFL is too political. College football is about playing the game and showing everyone you have what it takes to get to the next level. Professional Football is all about the money.
  24. My money has to be on either Hays or Makovicka at FB this year, when its needed. But bringing in Suh, would not surprise me the least.
  25. Finally someone who sees the weakness in the secondary, ive always thought that the secondary needed work, with both speed, recognition on the play, and actually going for the ball. i saw it alot during last season that secondardies were missing coverages and giving up big gains when it came to passing. Our D-line is down pat, and our LB's is pretty good, but lets face it, our secondary needs help and bad. Ive always thought thought that O'Hanlon was too slow for his position, no offense, i went to school with him when he played for Bellevue East, though i didnt converse with him. In anycase, like i said the secondary in my opinion needs help, and agree, this along with other minor problems that i see, i feel that Nebraska wont pull off number 1 in the Big 12 north, but then again i believe that anything can happen, and sometime people step up to the plate and shine. Which is what i always and hope and believe will happen this season. Nebraska #1 Big 12 North. The only true obstacle i see that can keep them from Big 12 North Champs is Mizzou, so beat them Tigers like they owe you 2 seasons of humilating losses.
