  1. 59% of his passes. Not bad at all. He could be a great one some day. But like almost any other freshman, he will not come in right away and set the world on fire. Look at poor Rhett Bomar -- that guy certainly hasn't been ready to play and has been put in a very difficult situation. Bomar needed a another year of development, but OU has no one else right now. Perhaps that goes to show you that you can't recruit enough at one position?
  2. That's too bad. Even though I didn't think he was that great of a coach at NU, I sincerely want him to do well at Ohio. I just hope the Ohio fans give him some time to recruit his own players. Best of luck, Frank!
  3. Not so much personal attacks, but posters complaining about FF himself rather than staying on subject and debating FF facts. Let's stay on topic.

    Nutt

This comes from an unhappy fan from an Arkansas board. Don't you wish S.P. had hired him? Hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here's a different angle on Nutt « on: October 10, 2005, 11:26:46 PM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let's just post gripes we want him to address. I assure you, if he would address these gripes of mine, I'd give him another chance fer shur. * Hire a real recruiting coordinator, somebody with FREAKING SEC REGION TIES FOR GOODNESS' SAKE. * Hire a real special teams coach WHO CAN EVALUATE, RECRUIT AND COACH KICKERS IT'S AN ARKANSAS TRADITION OR USED TO BE UNTIL YOU BURIED IT LIKE AN anklebiter! * Be an administrator not a micromanager. Hire real coordinators and delegate. Manage the big things that are going unmanaged BECAUSE THEY INTIMIDATE YOU. Treat your assistants LIKE REAL MEN NOT PUPPIES. Smack down ANY assistant who does not stick to the plan. NO EXCEPTIONS. * Make players earn playing time THEN GIVE IT TO THEM when they earn it. Senior favoritism is bull. * Don't let your stupider assistants manage young men's "attitudes." That's the sign of administrative incompetence. Deal with what people do. Reward good behavior. Tell them what good behavior is and isn't. Punish only deliberate missteps. Correct and reinforce. And SUPPORT FAIRNESS. Players follow a strong, fair leader. * Do not shy away from recruiting everywhere we should be looking, but DO NOT BE SO FREAKING LATE to find prospects in our regions. Suck it up and catch up. If your staff does not have the energy or motivation, FIRE THEIR ASSES YESTERDAY. This isn't a career job, being an assistant coach. Won't be for you either if you spend the rest of your days going .500. * Assign assistants to positions THEY KNOW HOW TO COACH. Why does this require bright orange crayon? Why do I have to say it? NO ASSISTANT IS A GOOD ENOUGH RECRUITER TO MAKE UP FOR BEING AN INCOMPETENT COACH. * Does it really win games to play your fullback at punt returner? How stinkin cowardly is that? Is our fullback really our best hands guy on the entire team? HOW CAN THAT BE? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU RECRUITING? * HOW CAN YOU SIGN 10 SAFETIES A YEAR and HAVE NO SAFETIES? * Does the middle of the football field have a magical force field over it, or are we purposely not throwing any footballs into there? I coulda sworn I saw one bounce off. * The situations when it makes sense to run the same back three times in a row = WHEN WE ARE AHEAD BY NINETY. And that's all. * Having eight usable offensive linemen is OK if YOU'RE AN NFL TEAM AND YOU CAN DRAFT ALL OF THEM FROM BIG UNIVERSITIES but YOU CAN'T and YOU GET THEM FROM RABBIT'S CROTCH, ARKANSAS so YOU NEED MORE OF THEM IF YOU ARE GOING TO SURVIVE. * I know it's a grand old tradition for Arkansas to have a decent quarterback only once every 10 years but how about we drop that one? * Pooch kickoffs = shortcut to defeat. * Vanderbilt = don't ever, ever, ever, ever, ever lose to them again. Think Danny Ford and SMU. Riiight. * When your own players do not think the best players are getting on the field, something is wrong. * Deep snappers are nice, but are they really worth a whole scholarship? Can't you do the baseball thing and award 1/10th of a scholarship to 10 of 'em? * Timeouts are precious commodities. Really. * When a trick play is preceded by a timeout, it doesn't count as a trick play. It counts as a BLARING RED NEON SIGN THAT SAYS "HEY EVERYBODY!!!! HERE COMES THE TRICK PLAY!!!!! I WANT TO LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE TONIGHT!"
  5. Thanks SC. I will go ahead and get back on subject, and hopefully Blackshirt or DaveH will move most of the posts on this thread to the Woodshed. FF has some good points in some of his posts, and I don't always disagree with him. But I sure do here. As for the Blackshirts, I was impressed how they played, especially from the middle of the second quarter to the end. FF said Cozgrove's defense will not compete against top teams. At the very least, TTU is a top offense. It is one of the most difficult to defend against. And NU stopped it most of the time after it spotted TTU 21 points. FF indicated NU can't defend against speed. What do you call TTU, slow? That is as fast of an offense we will face this year, and is probably one of the fastest in the country. From what I'm seeing, Cozgrove is doing a great job. I will say that we got a lot of football left, and my final judgement won't come until the end of the season, hopefully after a bowl game. But I like what I'm seeing so far.
  6. http://www.huskerjournal.com/recruiting.html Read this. His father is totally sold on NU, and Antwaan appears to be very close. While the two brothers still plan to visit KSU, Antwaan's brother told him not to wait. There's nothing in this article about Antwaan wanting to visit Florida. Take it for all it's worth.
  7. Move this thread to Behind the Woodshed. If you want to complain about FF or take shots at someone else, take it over there. Over here debate FF facts only, but take the bitching over there.
  8. I'm enjoying some great posts here! Good job! I share with your positive feelings about the coaches. We still got a ways to go, but this is the first game where I left with the feeling that maybe this staff can coach. I see a lot of improvement on offense and defense. Perhaps we do have a bright future with Callahan and company. Besides the penalties and turnovers, the two other things I see missing on offense are the deep ball and the wide receivers not getting extra yardage after contact. Perhaps Taylor is not yet comfortable throwing deep? I got the impression from the coaches during spring and fall practices that he was a very good long-ball thrower. Could it be the receivers? As for the receivers, only Ross seems to get extra yards after contact. Hardy has shown the best potential as a runner among the WRs, but I think he is too worried about not dropping the ball. This has kept him so far from being a playmaker (hopefully his injury isn't too serious). Haven't seen Brooks yet, but the other receivers seem to go down after making a the catch. Hopefully Brooks will be ready soon, and we can get a good look at him. We will see how good Spain is next year. Hopefully we will recruit some more big time WRs in this class.
  9. I'm sorry Nameless. I'm not sure that I'm following you. Are you saying if his brother goes to KSU, Antwaan Cobb will also go to KSU? Is Florida after his brother or Antwaan? Thank you.
  10. Maybe he is still solid on Florida, but you would think he wouldn't have taken the visit to Lincoln.
  11. Nameless or Eric: What's the latest on him? Is he a soft commitment -- his unexpected visit to Lincoln -- and is still considering the Huskers?
  12. On offense, we will obviously need to run the ball better in order to have success in the red zone. You just don't have as much room to pass inside the 20 -- even worse inside the 10. On defense: Don't give up the big play and stop them inside the red zone by stopping the run. If we can succeed in that, we can give up 350-400 yards passing and still win.
  13. Haven't listen to him in a long time for obvious reasons. His interviews were OK, but the callers were a bunch of flaming idiots. Not much substance to it. I assume he still refers to Nebraska as Bugaha?
  14. It's a matter of what time I get my buddy to go that determines if I go before the or after the game. It looks like before the game.
  15. Not that it means anything, why does Big Red Report rate him just a one star?
  16. I'm interested. What are the times? Two hours before and one hour after? It's a matter of what time my buddy to go that determines if I go before the or after the game. It would be fun to meet the people behind this board. Hope to meet you Saturday. -- Spartness P.S.: Who's going to be the referee to keep Formerfan and Nameless separated in case they both attend?
  17. When it comes down to it and to really think about this deeply, to really analyze the defense, the offense and the special teams, to see the whole picture of the quarterback, the running backs, the wide receivers, the tight ends, the offensive linemen, the defensive tackles, the defensive ends, the linebackers and the defensive backs, if we score more points than ISU, we will win.
  18. Jar (sp?) Tomich(sp?), Derrie(sp?) Nelson. Smith was a DT, but would have been a great DE.
  19. Mike Rucker, Jimmie Williams, Willie Harper (All-American 1971-72; played many years in the NFL).
  20. I get the impression that McKeon is the leader of this defense. He's the most colorful personality we have had for awhile. This guy must help get the defense fired up. I didn't realize before how much we need this guy. He brings energy to the Blackshirts.
  21. I get the impression he is more polished than he was last yea.
  22. What was Freeman's passing percentage?
  23. Timeout guys. I see where this is about to go. -- Spartness the Peacemaker
  24. New Orleans may be a third of its original size. It could take 40-plus years before it is a big city again. There may not be enough people in the near future to support another dome.
