  1. Has anyone given any thought to Beck redshirting this year? I'm kinda of the opinion that we use Beck the same way we used him last year. We only bring him in if we need him to win the game. I totally agreed with bringing him in against K State, and if the same situation comes up again this year, we should do it again. I look at this year's schedule and I don't see a lot of opportunity for playing time. We probably will only have 3-4 games that aren't 4 qtr games. I guess I would rather see Beck for an entire 2009 season than mop-up duty in 2006. I especially think this might be a good idea since we didn't pick up a QB this year. With Beck for an extra year, we'll have more time to develop the QB(s) we sign this year. I do think getting some more real game experience for Beck is important, and 2007 would probably suffer without a QB with experience. But I think NCs in this offense are going to be won with 5th year seniors at QB. The Gimp has sopken.
  2. I was curious how JD was doing now that he is offically on the NC team and practicing. I found this article... http://northcarolina.scout.com/2/506766.html I didn't like the way he left the team, but I still am rooting for the guy and hope he gets the starting job.
  3. This is great news! I'm shocked that SC sells its tickets to the general public like this...It's going to be a sea of RED! I wish I could get home tickets this easy.
  4. I disagree. This game has a huge draw for Husker fans. We will be coming into this game with a 5 game winning streak. It's in LA instead of Podunk South Bend. And as much as I hate Notre Dame fans, I do think that there will be more SC fans looking to make a quick buck than the jack ass domers. I just feel there is way more buzz for this game than there was for the Notre Dame game. I predict a sea of red! I also think the price will drop much lower than $350 a couple weeks before the game (probably $150-$250). I hope your right, but I know about 30 SC fans and they are going along with their brother's brother, sister, 1st cousin 2nd cousin ETC - There's gonna be TIX available but your gonna get raped on the price, The Collisium hold about 97,500 and there are 80,000 season ticket holders for SC now - Scalping is LEGAL out here if you own a business and corporations buy all the remaining tickets - My point is that website I listed has tickets NOW!!!! I would suggest having them in hand when you get on the plane wherever your coming from. Just remember where USC campus is - it's in WATTS and fake tickets are the NORM especially for big games. I've seen people at the gate not getting in because they bought a ticket from some guy off the street - So I'm just giving a little advice, This isn't PODUNK NEBRASKA out here there's alot of people that take advantage of out of towners. and also DO NOT PARK IN ANY CHURCH LOTS NO MATTER WHAT They have a SCAM with the tow truck companies to tow you after you go in the game. Take it for what it's worth. Thanks for the advice Chad. Since it sounds like you have been to SC quite a bit, can you give us some idea what we can expect while we are there? For instance, how is the bar scene around campus? How will SC fans treat my drunk ass? etc. Also, if anyone has luck getting tickets, please share with the rest of the board. Lets get a big group out there!

  6. USC has been on the schedule for years. I want to say it was on there when I graduated in '99. I know it's been on there since USC has been any good. I've had my eye on it for a LONG time! I'll see you guys in LA this year!
  7. Patrick probably won't be starting over Murtha...but he is becoming one of my favorite Huskers... If you heard his comments after the Alamo Bowl, they were great. He said something like "Michigan's D Line wasn't very good...I man-handled them the whole game. We ran the ball all over them." I love the confidence/swagger he brings to the game.
  8. Matt Slauson and Jordan Congdon were named to the Rivals All Freshman Bowl Team. Another notable was at S...Reggie Smith. Man, I wish we didn't lose out on him. He would have been an awesome Husker. He had 7 tackles in the Holiday Bowl.
  9. I agree...very funny... "granted exception to make throat-slashing gestures in NCAA rulebook" is great!
  10. That's sweet. This is turning out to be a good class of OL! We needed it! Is it just me, or are we getting better talent out of Missouri than Missouri! I love it.
  11. Got a link? I think this is an upgrade from Downing! Great news.
  12. I'm thinking Coz is gone. There is no way he turns down that job for twice as much $$. Plus its not like Nebraska fans and media have given him any respect. I'd like to see Blake take over as D-Coordinator otherwise I think he is the next to start getting offers. This is going to be the problem with running pro style offense and defense and winning. Our coaches will probably turn over every few years.
  13. I tried to find a link online. I live in Chicago and read the paper version this afternoon. There was a comment next to Nebraska that said something like "Callahan is on a roll". The Chicago papers really have given us love since Callahan took over. I think a lot of that might be due to the fact that he grew up on the south side and has a lot of Chicago ties.
  14. The Chicago Tribune has us as at #10 today in their first pre-season poll! Will we get this much love from the rest of the AP? My guess when the first real poll comes out, we will be around 18-20.
  15. This reminds me a lot of Ryan Perrriloux last year. Texas had his verbal commitment forever, then last minute he switched to LSU where Les Miles had just taken over. The first thing I thought of when I heard Freeman was talking to Prince was this is a Ryan Perriloux situation and we are in trouble. Oh well, I always thought the guy seemed more like he belonged on American Idol than Memorial Stadium. I could never see this guy take the hits that Zac takes every week. He just seems too soft for my style of QB. I'll take a Taylor or Beck any day!
  16. Bo Ruud broke his arm today and is out for the bowl. He expects to be back by spring. Kind of sucks with Stu and Octavian out already. This could hurt. I can't wait to have all 3 guys back next year!
  17. Completely disagree... With USC on our non-conference schedule next year, we could schedule two Lincoln high schools for the other games and we would still get respect. The number one thing I want in our non-conference schedule is to come out unscathed with enough respect from the voters to not rule us out of the BCS because of a weak schedule. Scheduling Iowa when you already have a team that will have likely won the last 3 NCs on your schedule would be ludicrous. We don’t need that win to get into the BCS. Why not take an extra week to prepare for that game and have a scrimmage to work out any kinks and greatly reduce the risk of injuries? Don’t forget we have the Big 12 championship game. If we were in the Pac 10 then I might argue that you need a tougher non-conference schedule. It would suck to be Oregon this year and go 10-1 and not make a BCS bowl. I just don’t see that happening in the Big 12.
  18. Robert Rands quit the team today to focus on track. He wants to be an olympic long jumper. Too bad we'll never get to see what he could do. I think he was too short to be a great corner (5'7''), but he might have been a great special teams player.
  19. Just wondering your thoughts... When we win the Alamo Bowl, do we end up in the top 25?
  20. I enjoy reading on this board, but man, this is messed up...does every single possible topic have to come back to the coaching staff and the hate some of you have for BC? This was an interesting topic...Herian is coming back to practice...and of coarse it gets turned into a "BC sucks" topic. This is great friggin' news! Our number #1 tight end will be in all the bowl and spring practices. We may have him back 100% by next season! We are playing MICHIGAN in a few weeks, and this team just put the smack down on CU...Seems like some of you need to get a life. The Gimp has spoken.
  21. Are Husker fans getting "punked"? Doesn't everyone realize this is really Xzibit?? vs
  22. Blake isn't going anywhere (thank god!)... "I have not been contacted by the University of Miami," Blake said. "I respect their program, but have no interest in any position there. I am totally committed to the Nebraska football program and helping us build a championship program here. My family and I are here at Nebraska as long as Nebraska wants us. I am focused on helping our team prepare to play Missouri."
  23. In the Texas game, it was 3rd down with about 20 seconds left. We had no timeouts left and we were down by 3. Solich had 2 choices...kick the field goal and send the game into overtime at home with an extra down in case of a bad snap or try one more play which was an obvious pass play with a running QB with no timeouts left. Soilch went with the second and we got picked off. Game over. That sucked. The Gimp has spoken
  24. I was at both the TT game this year and the Texas game a few years ago. For me the Texas game was a much worse feeling than this past weeks loss. Mainly because this loss came down to a mistake from a player where as the Texas loss was due to a dumb play by the coach. Don't get me wrong. Le Kevin is pretty much a morron in my book, but Solich definitley should have known better than to try that dumb as pass play on 3rd down, when we could have had an easy field goal and sent the game to overtime. The Gimp has spoken.
