  1. Although don't get me wrong...I'm not exactly chopped liver despite pushing 40...
  2. Lucky wasn't the correct word for me to use...I should have said CU will be hitting their potential if they get 6-7 wins. Any more than that and you'll be way over-achieving...
  3. Your post is fundamentally flawed to begin with... 1. Nebraska has NEVER been a recruiting powerhouse like USC in terms of signing kids with lots of "stars" according to the recruiting services. 2. These recruiting services, and their evaluations, are hardly an exact science or a reliable indicator of future performance. 3. During the mid 90's run Nebraska did have "usc type talent" especially on defense. The three national titles, a 60-3 combined record, a 38 point victory over #2 Florida and a complete drubbing of a Peyton Manning led Tennessee, which had a host of future NFL players also...speaks for itself.
  4. Oh heavens no... My avatar is of Jessica Marais and she plays Mistress Denna in "The Legend of the Seeker" (See the pic in my sig line.)
  5. How would Nebraska benefit here? Let's assume this kid does want to come here and Bo greenlights it... * There's no pressing need for a QB, especially one with such limited eligibility... * He'd have to sit out a year anyway as a transfer... * He'd be learning an entirely new offensive system which would probably take him at least 2 years to get to where he's comfortable... * By then he'd be a senior and have one year, ala Sam Kellar to show what he could do... In my opinion, bringing this kid aboard would be a complete waste of three scholarship years. Bo and Wats, if they are looking at getting another QB, would be much better off signing, and developing, a high school prospect and by-passing this potential trainwreck.
  6. Have you seen our schedule? We should have 6-7 wins by the end of October. We open with CSU(Boulder), Wyoming($200 airfare from Pensacola right now, debating on pulling the trigger to attend that one personally), and Miami(OHIO) on the road. We win face a Pat Whiteless WVU team on the road, and let's face it, I doubt anyone is real terrified of Bill Stewart, and then Texas in Austin(Loss). Then we play KU at home, KSU(No Freeman) on the road, and Mizzou(lost everyone) at home. The only game where I believe we have no solid chance is Texas. After that we have A&M at home, ISU on the road, OSU on the road, and you guys at home. The only game that stands out as a concession game is OSU. Unlike in previous years where I look at the schedule and put my hands over my face I feel good about this years schedule in haveing a decent little season upon which to build on. Are 10 wins a stretch, yeah, a lot of things have to go right, but after last year we are due for a little more luck so who knows, but I think 6-7 wins is just as unrealistic, but that is why they play the game. I agree with you actually that your team should have those six wins by the end of October. However, the difference between should and will is huge. 1. Colorado State should be a win for you guys. But, early season rivalry game...who knows what will happen. 2. Wyoming isn't a push over and you guys could very well lose to them. The Cowboys went 4-8 last season but they did travel to Knoxville and beat Tennessee. 3. Miami (Oh) seems to plug in guys who are capable QB's. 4. On the road against WVU, even without Pat White, is going to be really tough for you guys. I honestly think Colorado will be 2-2 in non conference. I think you guys will beat CSU and Miami, Oh and lose to WVU and Wyoming. Then, once you get into Big 12 play the W's will be really hard to come by...I'm standing by my prognostication: CU will eek out maybe 7 wins max. And if I'm wrong I'm sure you'll be around to remind me.
  7. L. Washington...was recruited by the last staff and in my opinion, he needs to step up big time. This kid, and why he was offered a scholarship by the last staff, puzzles me. I've heard he's not that bright to begin with and more perplexing, if true, is he's not fast enough for to be a LB in Pelini's system and he's not strong / quick enough to play DE. To be fair though from what I've heard he has also battled injuries most of the time he's been here...so who knows. N. Paul...I understand he played behind two upperclassmen but as of yet I've been pretty unimpressed. He doesn't seem to run very good routes, he doesn't seem to have the quick, loose hips to cut and gain separation from a quality DB and his speed appears to be slightly above average at best. T Marlowe...Word on the street is this kid will surprise a lot of folks and has the "one to watch for" designation. There have been whispers about this kid tearing it up on returning punts and kick-offs so we'll see. K. Reed...TE, H-Back, FB, this kid is so versatile who knows where he'll end up or how much he'll see the field. K. Cooper...How good can this kid be missing every spring practice because he's playing baseball? From an athletic standpoint there's no question he's a true talent. But it takes a lot of time to develop the timing necessary between a QB and WR.
  8. KU will be really good this year. Great signature Jen Thanks! The picture, and sig line, is from a television show that I had previously never even heard of called "The Legend of the Seeker." Long story short I was on hulu.com perusing the action and adventure category and I saw the picture of this dude tied up with chains in a dungeon. Out of curiosity I clicked the link and watched the show. It was gawd awful but I thought the character of Mistress Denna was amazing. And it doesn't hurt that the actress portraying her is smoking hot as well. Oh my...I've strayed exceedingly far from the topic here.
  9. Like I said in the other thread, the class that started it all in the 90's was ranked in the 20's, but Osborne had some very highly ranked classes. The 1995 and 1996 classes were ranked as high as #2 and #3 in the country. We recruited alot more than just system players, we went after the best talent in the country. The same players all the other big boys at the time went after. You really need to do some research on Husker recruiting. You don't think Tommie Frasier was recruited by the big boys? .... It's Tommie Frazier...not Frasier. And Tommie was recruited by Florida State, Miami and other schools...as a DB. Damn, I can't even spell my favorite Huskers name correctly. His top 3 were Nebraska, Notre Dame and Clemson, and I still remember it was big news when he commited to NU. I wish I would have saved the Journal Star article on it. It was big news no doubt. The only reason Nebraska was able to lure Frazier away from Miami, Florida State, Notre Lame, Clemson, etc was because Nebraska wanted him as a QB. All the other schools were projecting him as a defensive back, specifically a safety. (Although my memory fails as to whether it was as a FS or SS.) And the rest is, as they say, history...
  10. That's your gal in your avatar and sig line? I love those boots she's wearing...I have a similar pair... Sorry for the digression...good job on the TO recap topekahusker...

  12. The north is between Nebraska and Kansas... The north division will, more than likely, come down to Nebraska's game against Kansas in Lawrence. The winner of that game will be the north champ and will play in the conference title game. Missery won't even be a factor in the north this year because they'll be breaking in a new QB, new OC, will have to replace two key play-makers in Coffman, Maclin and will still be rather suspect on defense. sCUm might get to 6-7 wins if they're extremely lucky. Iowa State will be lucky if they don't go 0-8 in the conference.
  13. Well you ARE a Missery fan...
  14. I love Frank Solich for all of his contributions to Nebraska Football. However, he's just not cut out to to a head football coach. There's no shame here it's just simple reality. Being a head football coach is a lot like being a CEO of a company, not everyone can do it. Frank's biggest problem is that he absolutely sucks as an offensive coordinator and most everybody can see that, except him. Prior to the '08 season, on another Husker bbs board, I openly stated that Ohio would be lucky to finish 6-6. And what happened? Ohio went 4-8. Again, I respect FS because of his years of service as a player and assistant coach but he's not head coach material.
  15. Potential heresy alert: I would really question Bo's judgment if he offered this kid a scholarship. 1. The kid will only have two years of eligibility so it make no sense to waste a scholarship on a kid who will sit on the bench for two years. 2. Even with Witt transferring out the Huskers still have: Lee, Green, Spano and possibly Martinez at QB.
