  1. I thought since this got brought up in another thread that we could see why people go to Husker games. Personally I go to party, the atmosphere is usually great, champions club is a blast, talegating is usually average to above average and of course, if its warmer out its great to bring girls with and meet new ones too! I don't usually even go into the game, what about you guys/girls?
  2. That is kind of funny! No, not all girls are that way, in fact, very few are that way. But most, if not all, are at the game to talegate and party, just like me and most of the guys. Its supposed to be a fun time.
  3. I don't want to continue the derailment of this thread, so I'll just say this: Believe me, I understand that guys are hard-wired that way and they're gonna do it. That's why I offered up the cheerleader solution I just felt that it needed pointing out that some of us are more inclined to say "C'mon Niles, catch the d*mn ball!" than to say "Like, is Taylor Martinez a blackshirt? I am sooo wasted. What are you doing later?" I'm not one to get pissed when men objectify women because I know it happens. But to say all girls see the game as a "social event" is something I gotta speak up about. Some of us do know what we're talking about..not all, but some </rant> Just from my experience of partying in Lincoln for lots of games or at the bars either in lincoln or Omaha is that 99% of the girls make it a social event. There is a reason that the girls that go to party at the games or at the bars are dressed up in a cute way. If you wanted to we could make another thread about it, but out of every 10 girls at a T-gate or at the bars during a Husker game, how many do you think are actually into the game? 1, maybe 2? I am not trying to make you mad, I like it that way. I like that girls go out to party for the games and want to look hot. But you can't deny that its a social event, hell its a social even for most of the guys! Its basically a great excuse to drink, party, eat and meet girls each Saturday for about 10 hours. The girls that are totally into the game, team, stats and so on, are usually the ones that most of us guys dont even see! I love the Skers but my number one reason for going down to T-gate is for the atmosphere, the drinking, the joking around with my friends and metting people. If I just cared about the game, I would show up 15 minutes before kickoff, sit down, watch and leave right after.
  4. The student section, in the mid-late 90's, was great and just like back then it was all frat and sorority "idiots." Come on man, who do you think makes the most noise at the games? Its the drunk frat guys! As far as the girls go, lets face it, they are their usually because its a social event for them. I don't want to sit by guys that think they know everything about football. I want to sit by guys that are there to have fun, scream, complain, argue about calls and clap. The only girls I want to see there are hot ones that are out to have a good time.
  5. This is a great post and it really shows that Watson is at best, average. I am not going to do the math but what is the average rank for his offenses? About 60ish? He is and always will be an average OC. Thats not a bad thing but thats just what he is. Good DC's can out scheme him and bad ones cant.
  6. Zoogs, I wasnt trying to call you out or anything like that, its just that I have seen/read to much of the virgin crap over on HI from those virgin insiders who think that Bo did something "wrong" the week of the UT game and that if TO wasnt his boss he would have been possibly punished or fired. Look, the team might have been wound up for that UT game but honestly, that all goes out the window once the game starts. They just had a bad game, it happens. The Ducks had one last night, it happens.
  7. The coaching staff didnt drop a bunch of freaking passes in that game, stop reading the virgins over at HI who think they are insiders and start thinking about it for real.
  8. Now, I personally think that almost 100% of students cheat in one way shape or form. Most of the time its in the form of asking kids "what was on the test" or looking over old tests that the teacher had given in the past (yes, that is still cheating, a very very mild form of it but lets face it, its still cheating) but putting your name on another kids paper, that is just ballsy!!
  9. Who the hell is ememen? He is like a Weird Al type! haha
  10. I know that height, weight, times, reps and all that stuff is great to look at. But somtimes, not most of the time, but sometimes, kids are just football players. Zach Thomas, Dat Ngyeun, those guys come along and they might not look the part but for some reason they end up just being good. One of the best kids I ever coached looked like ememen, was a stick, couldnt run at all and probably never benched over 200 pounds but anything thrown to him, he caught. He ended up being a 3 year starter at an FBS school. Had he actually ever tried reading or writing he probably would have ended up at UNL. Please dont take this to mean "stars dont matter" but its just that some kids win, some kids make tackles, some kids make catches. Is this kid like that? I have no idea but he might be.
  11. I think with his buddy coming here it will be hard for him to go to Arkansas but with that being said some kids do want to go off and kind of start over when it comes to college. Man, that was a worthless post by me.
  12. Not really, he is down to Ark and NU. He might decide this week.
  13. Only a two timer??? Everyone else on this board is a three timer.
  14. I would also guess that Nebraska and ND will play each other more often now. ND tends to play a lot of big 10 teams each year and I could see Nebraska and ND playing every now and then.
  15. The lead singer for the bannanrammas or was it Wham? I actually think it was Wham. That was Andrew Ridgley and George Michael...anyone else feel like youtubing "last Christmas"
  16. This will bore people to death but I have coached football for 10 years and I think some of you might not be thinking about what the real "let down" factor is. Its usually being TO up for a game and thinking you will win with ease. When you go into a game like that and things dont go your way in the first 10 minutes or so, you tend to see a snowball effect. Its weird, easy plays dont get made, you miss a block, a punt bounced back instead of forward. I have seen it happend up close many times. That team starts thinking that only good things will happen or that they can "turn it on" at any point but usually its just not the case.
  17. Look, no QB or any player is going to look happy when they get yanked. A leader doesnt have to stand there and fake clap for another guy, some guys need to sit down and think things out, play it over in their head. This is like getting mad at a person for not reacting the way you want them to react when a family member passes away. We all deal with things our own way, just because it might not be YOUR way it doesnt mean its the wrong way. I have coached football for 10 years now have had kids deal with things all different ways, there is no one perfect way. I think that people assume that if a kid gets yanked and then doesnt stand there smiling that they are mad at the coach or the team, not usually, usually they are mad at themselves.
  18. Few things and I have coached for 10 years, no I am not an expert just telling you the things that I have seen and coached with/against. 1. The offense doesnt have to wait for the defense UNLESS the offense has made a substituion then the defense can also sub while the refs hold the play up. 2. The defense can sub anytime they want, even if the offense doesnt sub. 3. Many defenses that play a no huddle team will tackle and "lay" on the ball carrier for an extra count or two, slowing things up. 4. Defenses just need to make sure they tackle there is no need to get exotic. 5. The Ducks run a few select passing plays (I wish I had the link to the article but I dont), they are simple reads, fly routes, screens and crosses routes. They stay away from out routes which are hard to complete.
  19. I was also looking for a password to the woodshed, could you PM the password please?

  20. This is best case for NU. NU beats OSU and Mizzo wins. Next week, Mizzo comes to Lincoln undefeated and ranked probably 5? and NU is ranked around 12? NU wins that game and wins out, OU wins out you have two teams in the Big 12 Championship game ranked in the top 10 (at the very worst) with 1 loss each.
  21. Good call on the QB draw, I dont remember one during the UT game. I would think that screens would work too. If you have two guys spying on the QB and in theory bracketing him as he moves or rolls out, then you could think you could roll to one side a few steps and screen the other way.
  22. Well I think you have to remember that this is a new offense too, not the crap coast offense anymore.
  23. Monte will not do well in college. Its a different game.
