  1. looks good in this video, I think he should be our big receiver candidate for this class NEW VIDEO
  2. Reports surfaced last week that Shawnee (Kan.) Bishop Miege wide receiver Justin McCay, a Rivals100 prospect, would narrow his list to five schools Wednesday. But sources now say McCay will hold off on that to focus on the start of his senior season and working to keep on track academically. McCay has been linked heavily with Florida, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Kansas State and Missouri, among others. Link
  3. being reported on the LSU board that his top 6 are Houston USC UF Texas Oklahoma Arizona State
  4. "Oklahoma, Southern California, Illinois, Tennessee, Alabama and Notre Dame are the six schools he is focused on the most right now. He does not have any firm dates nailed down, but said he's definitely planning to take an official to USC during the season." Link
  5. If Chase Harper doesn't commit is there a chance he will be moved over to TE/WR? theres always a chance, but I think especially with the depth we have at TE, we really want this guy to be a speed rush end type of player who can get in the backfield quickly. Especially with all of the spread offenses that we are seeing, a guy like this would be a huge pick up. Mobley has always said although he hasnt played much defense he is open to anything, and thinks he can be very productive on the defensive side of the ball. If his 4.55 is accurate, he could be great at WR also. I would love to see him as a Rush End though. I agree, physically and statistically he seems to be the poor man's Ronald Powell. Both can play TE, WR and DE. There are a lot of things he can do and hopefully the staff puts in the best position to succeed, hate for him to end up like Culbert. Edit: it would be a nice DE group with Mobley, Okuyemi, and Vestal
  6. Doesn't who made this list, according to multiple posters on LSU boards and UF boards he is already a silent commit to UF. I believe the only reason he is still somewhat looking around is fear that Charlie Strong could be leaving at the end of the season. Edit: here is his final 9 in no particular order Florida, Florida State, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, Alabama, Southern Cal and Ohio State
  7. There is a lot of indecisiveness on their board where they go from here. Some are saying they are going to completely drop him, some are saying he still has a chance. They keep on saying that if they do take another DE it is going to be . Either way optimism for him seems to be going down for multiple schools.
  8. If Chase Harper doesn't commit is there a chance he will be moved over to TE/WR?
  9. Would imagine it is between us and OSU, because Arizona just got their 5 OL commit.
  10. more chatter on ND boards that he is there back-up plan to Prince Shembo and that if Shembo commits to them soon, carter is out of it. Otherwise carter has been planning a trip to ND on Friday (wonder if he is trying to commit?).
  11. that's a good sign. hopefully we can get this guy N, because he probably has one of the most impressive DE films of the year.
  12. take it for what it is worth, but on ND boards they are saying he had a poor showing at camps over the summer. and that they have cooled on him in favor of another candidate. this could be the reason why on 1620 a while back they said we had not come to visit him during the visiting/eval period.
  13. from this video suh looked dominant and wouldn't surprise me if he went top five.
  14. O. Perry Walker cornerback Urell Johnson tears ACL Pierce W. Huff, Times-Picayune, July 30, 2009 12:53 p.m. O. Perry Walker football coach Emanuel Powell said senior Urell Johnson, the 32nd rated cornerback in the nation according to rivals.com, will be out for at least three to four months with a torn anterior cruciate knee ligament. Powell said Johnson suffered the injury while he was running and jumping during a drill in a team workout about two weeks ago. Powell said it wasn't a full tear of the ligament, and he is optimistic that Johnson can play this season. Powell said Johnson had the surgery to repair the ligament and everything went well. He also said Johnson has started his long rehabilitation process. Johnson, who is 6 foot 1, 185 pounds, committed to Southern Mississippi earlier this month, but later decommitted. Powell said that despite the injury, Johnson continues to be recruited by Southern Mississippi, Texas Tech, Virginia, Nebraska and Tennessee. Link
  15. It appears as of July 15th no one was in the lead Link Diamonte Wheeler was once tabbed a high motor defensive lineman that lo0oked to be a bit on the small side for his position. At a now 6′3″ 270 pounds, Wheeler has been working hard to add size and strength to his already impressive play on the field. Wheeler has himself an impressive list of school so far and he now as added another in the last week. “Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Kansas, Kansas State, University of Houston, UTEP, Arkansas, Arizona, Iowa State, Minnesota, Texas Tech, and Baylor just offered last week,” Wheeler said. Wheeler will be heading off to Waco this weekend to see the Bear program up close. “I’m supposed to go to Baylor this weekend for their camp,” said Wheeler. “Not to participate, but they want me to come up there and meet the coaches,” added Wheeler. Wheeler didn’t have the opportunity to get to any other camps this summer, but he has been busy working on getting better. “UTEP, Oklahoma State, Kansas, and Kansas State,” Wheeler said of the programs that invited him to camps this summer. “I have just been gaining weight and lifting,” added Wheeler. Apparantly he’s been doing a good job off it too. According to Wheeler, he now stands 6′3″ and is up to 270 pounds. His added size will surely help his Bowie High School team that Wheeler feels is better than the Texas media is suggesting. “We’re looking good,” Wheeler said. “We’re not getting any media love, andd we’re underdogs. We’ve had a good three years in a row and we’re still going to be good,” added Wheeler. Wheeler teams up with fellow Kansas recruit Donovan Vestal on the defensive line. A line that often has those two on the same side, which would create a nightmare match-up for any opposing offense. “We’re looked at as the muscle of the defensive line. We have two newer guys coming up so we have to show them how it has to be. The intensity they need,” said Wheeler. As for Kansas, Wheeler has the Jayhawks sitting in his current top 5. As of July 15th OSU was on the same level as everyone else “Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Kansas State, Kansas, and Texas Tech,” said Wheeler. “There is no leader in that top 5, but those 5 stand out from the rest right now,” added Wheeler. Wheeler made the trip to Lawrence earlier this spring for the Kansas football spring game. Despite arriving late to Lawrence, Wheeler did get the chance to check out the Kansas football program, and their new facilities. “The intensity was good. There was a lot more people there than I thought would be so the fan base is good,” said Wheeler. “I liked the weight room. It’s one of the best I’ve seen. I also liked the training room,” added Wheeler. Wheeler has also developed a pretty good relationship with a couple of the Kansas coaches. Wide receivers coach David Beaty, and Defensive line coach Tom Sims. “I like KU,” said Wheeler. “I like Coach Beaty and I like Coach Sims. He is pretty funny and makes me laugh. We have a good relationship,” added Wheeler. Wheeler says he’s hoping to make a decision by the second or third game of his senior season. As for official visits, Wheeler already knows where he would like to visit. “Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and Iowa State,” said Wheeler.
  16. 4. Bud Sasser, Denton Ryan HS - The knock on the 6 foot 2, 185-pound Sasser is that he's a product of a ridiculously effective passing attack with one of the top QBs in the area in Scotty Young. Last season as a junior, Sasser, who also starts for Ryan's basketball team and has exceptional leaping ability, was a red-zone threat for the Raiders. He finished the season with 24 touchdowns in 13 games and had 64 catches for 1,250 yards. Sasser also won't have the luxury of having a Big 12-caliber receiver opposite him as he did last season with D.J. Beshears, who signed with Kansas a few weeks back, so Sasser will be the marked man by opposing defenses, but he'll still have Young and will still put up big numbers. His size and leaping ability make him a prospect on this list, even though he was completely left off the Riddle-Simmons list. He's getting early interest from Texas Tech and Oklahoma. Link
  17. well said sir I understand your concern, but its all about how you finish. We are still in on some good recruits. OL Aleon Calhoun Zac Bolton Denton Simek Dalvin Glass Kody Innes WR Bud Sasser Chris Hawkins Marcus lucas Curtis Carter Bobby Swigert Tyler Slavin RB James McConico Deontae Cooper Giovanni Bernard TE Chase Harper and probably more kids are going to be identified as the season goes on. if it was jan and we had 4 recruits i would be scared, but is july/aug. all this means is we are going to get more commits as the season goes on.
  18. Can we stop bashing the coaches now?
  19. How can a decommit from a guy who wasn't solid on NU, whose parents went to the school he may be committing to lead to a firestorm about our coaching staff. This is the same staff who has recruited well the past two years; the same coaches who got a tattoo to please a commit; the same staff that has gotten us in the conversation with a lot of high profile kids. Yes not everything is perfect, but this staff is still working as had as anyone else in my opinion. There just seems to be a lot of angst because of the anticipation of the new season and that recruiting has slowed. But I am willing to bet everyone will be pleased with this class come Feb, we just need to be patient.
  20. Explain Basically that the staff is at least lazy and at worst things are in complete choas when it comes to recruiting. Don’t know if a few bad apples or an overall attitude. Just internet rumor so take it for what it is worth. But there has been a lot of comments from recruits about having a hard time getting in touch with our coaches. I know that Owamagbe Odighizuwa had a problem getting in contact with the staff (i believe they missed one phone call) and one or two other player too, but I don't the staff is lazy with their recruiting or in complete chaos. I doubt we would have made it into so many kid's final lists if they were. I know I am not speaking for the coaches, but while it is sad to see him go I am somewhat happy. I believe we are on to WRs that more dynamic players, and he just freed up a schollie for one of those players.
  21. Explain Gabbert is on campus “I've seen everything in terms of the facilities,” Gabbert said. “I've met with the coaches numerous times, so for me it's more a time to talk to the other committed players and the recruits who still need to be convinced.” Link
