  1. James Wright was recently offered by LSU head coach Les Miles, vaulting the Tigers atop his list, ESPN affiliate Web site EyeOnTheTigers.com reports. LSU joins Texas Tech, Arkansas, Alabama, Nebraska, Tennessee and Stanford in the mix for Wright. The Tigers and USC Trojans are Wright's two dream schools. USC has not shown much interest to this point, but Wright isn't ready to pick LSU yet. In 2008, he caught 58 passes for 1,058 yards (18.2 average) and 18 touchdowns. Wright also carried 22 times for 214 yards and four more scores earning Class 4A All-state, all-district and all-metro notoriety. ESPN Evaluation 79 Wright is a prospect that not only possesses very good size and a frame to fill out and become an imposing presence, but he also displays very good speed, quick feet and the ability to get vertical more than one might think. He is used in a variety of roles both in the slot and on the outside and is very effective on slip screens. He is lanky, has good height and has yet to grow into his frame. Possesses long arms, is a long strider and has very deceptive speed-- covers a lot of ground quickly. Shows quick feet and good surge off the line of scrimmage. Is very confident and attacks the football. He has excellent hands and the ability to snatch the ball away from his body. He shows very good concentration and he will make the tough catch in traffic and he is especially good on the high ball-- has big upside in the red area. He can also track the vertical ball and make adjustments to bad balls. Shows excellent body control and sideline awareness. He is an adequate route runner, very smooth in and out of his cuts for a taller player, and he has a nice little short-area burst. He can run high at times and is a bit high cut which will give him somewhat of a straight-lined appearance both as a route runner and after the catch. What stands out most about Wright is his quick, strong hands. He is a guy QB's can throw the ball up to and he will go get it. His combination of size and speed give him a vertical presence on the outside, but he has a real knack for working the underneath and intermediate zones out of the slot and appears comfortable playing on the inside. Overall, Wright has upside to develop as a route runner and could find a home permanently as a slot receiver and redzone target on the outside. Good player with a bright future at the next level.
  2. He was just on HI Radio, and it appears he is extremely impressed by Coach Brown and his faith. While I wouldn't call him N, I think we have just as good a chance as anyone else.
  3. On the LSU boards they said he was offered as an OL. Is that we we are looking at him as? link
  4. Jacobs is obviously a big kid, but his size on paper is not jaw dropping though. Yet he seems to engulf and man handle his competition at times in high school. This may mean he is bigger then listed or possibly he is not facing the greatest competition. With those two things in mind he does display the ability to be disruptive. He gets off the ball well and will flash the ability to generate some power from his lower body. He can be a tough kid to move off the ball. He does need to watch his pad level. He shows good natural strength, but can tend to play high. He is very active with his hands and is able to violently shed blockers at times even when he is not in a great position leverage wise. He does though need to be more consistent with his hands. He can be tough between the tackles and for a big man he is a fairly secure tackler. Does not quickly change directions, but when he gets moving in a straight-line towards his target he flashes a solid burst for a big boy. He can create push with a bull rush as a pass rusher. He can be active with his weapons to try and knock the blocker out of his way, but does need to channel his movements at times into more efficient pass rushing moves. Jacobs may be feasting on some lesser opponents in high school, but the kid does have good size and is active for a big man. He needs to clean up aspects of his game, but could develop into a troublesome presence in the trenches.77 on ESPN
  5. On the UF boards they are reporting he did the gator chomp quite a bit.
  6. JUNE 18, 2009. PREP STAR DAKOTA ROYER, DE, 6-3, 215, 4.6, MANHEIM (MANHEIM CENTRAL), PENNSLYVANIA “I’ve narrowed my schools. I have a top ten in no order, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Penn State, Illinois, Michigan State, UCLA, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Oregon and West Virginia.” Royer said Summer Trip To Pittsburgh “Last year I went to Pittsburgh to see some basketball games, this summer our whole team is going up there for a 7 on 7 tournament. Pittsburgh has top of the line medical school and the Pittsburgh Steelers are right there, that is neat.” Royer said “Coach Wannstedt and Coach Angelichio have been so nice to me. I like the coaching staff they are like family. It just seems like that Pittsburgh would be a good school to play at. They got that program turned around as well.” Royer said “Everyone Is On A Scooter” “Michigan State has a great staff,” says Royer, “some of the guys come from the NFL and they are really on their players. Michigan State (East Lansing) is almost like a big city. It’s a big college city. It’s so big everyone is on a scooter it’s pretty cool. It’s not like a campus it’s like a big campus. Our quarterback Jeff Smoker went to Michigan State and he talks to me about them.” Royer said Trip To Notre Dame “It was a very nice school it was probably the best campus I’ve seen. Everything there is like a church architectural and stuff like that it’s a great place.” Royer said “Notre Dame has great facilities, the weight room and all the buildings. It’s a great feeling there (South Bend) everybody knows each other.” Royer added West Coast Officials “I’m going to make it out to UCLA and Oregon on an official I can’t afford it financial wise.” Royer said “UCLA is one of the best football programs in the country,” says Royer, “It’s west coast, California, always nice weather where you can train all year around. The academics at UCLA are great too. They have a great defensive line coach and they (UCLA) send a lot of players in the NFL.” “Cool Place To Play” “If you just look at them (Oregon) it’s a cool place to play,” Royer said, “They pretty much have the best facilities, the fact that NIKE is right there as their top sponsor. It would be real interesting place to play.” “The Oregon uniforms are cool. Each player has his own plasma TV by their locker they have so many crazy things there.” Royer added “I’m also going to Virginia Tech and North Carolina this summer,” Royer said, “Justin Myer that used to kick for us plays at Virginia Tech. Justin said it’s a great place to play and the coaches are really nice. I know Butch Davis (North Carolina) will turn that program around. He brings in top notch recruits. I feel like they will be one of the top teams in the country in the coming years.” Nebraska Is Out “Nebraska was in my top ten when Oregon offered me I took them out,” says Royer, “I don’t hear much from Nebraska anymore. I will get a letter from them once in a while.” Royer said “Penn State is putting pressure on me but I don’t let that get to me. I just take it easy and decide what’s best for me. I like Penn State it’s an in state but it doesn’t bother me.” Royer said Looking For The Right Place “I’m looking for a place where I can wake up every morning and go to school, go to practice, be with all the guys and everything. Feel like I’m at home. I’m looking at it in the point if football is taking away from me from an injury will I still be able to go to that school and still feel comfortable about my decision.” Royer said Apparently we stopped recruiting him. That seems to be the story with a lot of recruits that have dropped us.
  7. The top D in the B12 last year finished at 51. But in your defense (like what i did there) you finished 55 last year so you might be able to get down to the 30 - 40 area, maybe, but not likely in the B12 I think the strength of our D is going to surprise a lot of people, not just for the sake that we will be getting better but because the offenses we are going to facing are not going to be as prolific. Crabtree, Maclin, Coffman, OU's line, KU's line, Inglesias, and a lot of other firepower from the big twelve are gone.
  8. I think we have the potential to be real good. Our D-line should be solid to great with a lot of experience. The linebackers are physically more talented and should gain more experience as time progresses. If Hagg is back at safety there should be more flexibility at the DB position and Prince should be a solid to good corner. I would say top 30 D. with the potential to be the best in the conference.
  9. QB in shotgun lined up next to RB. 1 WR on the line and 1 off. TE and HB flanking the line. Projected Starters for this formation OL: Smith (LT), Williams (LG), Hickman ©, DJ Jones (RG), M. Jones (RT) WR: Chris Brooks (if he can block he needs to get on the field because he has knack for circus catches), Antonio Bell (presses vertical extremely well, if he can be consistent he needs to be on the field) HB: Kyler Reed (a mismatch against any LB) TE: McNeil QB: Lee RB: Helu **Paul has a knack of missing blocks, including the one in the gator bowl that caused the fumble for a TD, Holt does not play with enough aggressiveness for a big guy. **Reed needs to be on the field for every play (we could use him like UF's Hernandez). I would much rather see our TEs and Reed vs. anyone's LB than our wide receivers vs. somenoe's db. I also think they could be more consistent blockers to spring helu.
  10. So his name literally means "they bathe" moore. Interesting
  11. If he does it hasn't shown up on rivals or scout, but then there was that article on scout saying that NU had an interest in him. He would be a great addition to this class, because we do not appear to have any offensive player with quick feet. Really can't think of even one Offensive player? I can think of several. Who? Mendoza, Bell, Helu to name a few. I haven't seen enough of Mendoza to really argue. Bell from the video I've seen appears to be able to get down the field fast, I don't know about quick feet. Helu has great vision and enough speed to attack the hole but I don't think he has quick feet. I should probably define what I mean by quick feet. Someone who has great short area agility and burst. Someone who can stop on a dime and redirect quickly. People that exemplify this are Devin Hester and Percy Harvin. Maybe I'm wrong about the guys you mentioned above, but in my opinion three of these types of guys is not enough. I think we need more to potentially compete at a higher level.

  14. I don't think Florida is going to offer him now that they got a commitment from 4 Patton, and another receiver Alli. The gators are also a likely home for Dunkley. Lets hope they only get 3 WRs this class, and Nebraska takes an interest in Ross because I think we can beat out Ark., FIU, TTech, and Michigan (w/ 4WRs commits).
  15. JUNE 15, 2009. PREP STAR ALEON CALHOUN, OL, 6-7, 315, 5.1, NAVASOTA Aleon has six offers and has four favorites right now, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Baylor “I’m going to take my official visits to Oklahoma, Nebraska and Baylor. The other two I don’t know yet.” Calhoun said Number One On The Board “I really don’t know much about Nebraska,” says Calhoun, “The coaches tell me about winning and the program. Nebraska said I’m their number guy on the board for tackles. Coach Beck is my recruiter he’s a pretty cool guy.” Baylor Recruiting The Hardest “I’ve been to Baylor several times. Actually when I was a kid I played at Baylor’s gym for basketball. I have friends of mine that go there and they like it. Baylor is recruiting me the hardest showing a lot of interest in me.” Calhoun said “I like Waco,” Calhoun said, “I haven’t been up there recently. One of my team mates said Baylor have improved their stadium and new facilities. So I want to go up there and see them.” “Oklahoma has great program sports wise and good academics. They are a winning program.” Calhoun has briefly A&M Might Be The Leader “I went to Texas A&M junior days, they showed me around. How the athletes routine goes. I like it there the campus is very nice.” “Texas A&M is a family orientated school. It’s close to home. I basically know every athlete there and they know me. I’ve been to some A&M basketball games last year.” Calhoun added “It doesn’t matter where I play, right now one of the best schools for me is A&M, but anything goes. I’m leaning towards A&M somewhat.” Calhoun said Link
  16. Amen!!!! The NFL is a mere pipe dream for about 99% of all football players coming out of high school. A college football coach should sell the education angle and the opportunity(ies) a college education will provide. And, in my opinion, coaches who sell that NFL dream are doing these kids a grave injustice. Edit: Personally, if Nebraska had excellent players in college and no players in the NFL I'd be okay with that. To me, a player from Nebraska having success in the league is merely icing on the proverbial cake. I couldn't agree with you more Jen. The fact some of these coaches don't give a d*** about these kids outside of the field is disgusting. I personally really like the way the staff is recruiting. They are recruiting more athletically gifted individuals (regardless of size), than the previous staff. But more than anything they seem to be recruiting a tough no nonsense mentality, which I do not think they measure with stars. I think that in the future while other teams maybe more physically talented than us they are going to have a willingness to bring their lunch pail every play to beat us.
  17. MAY 25, 2009. PREP STAR CHRISTAIN LITTLEHEAD, OL, 6-4, 300, 5.1, TAHLEQUAH (SEQUOYAH), OKLAHOMA Christian has offers from Baylor, Mississippi, Colorado State, Kansa State, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Air Force Oklahoma Junior Days “I liked Oklahoma junior days it was real nice. They are building new facilities we didn’t get to see much because of the construction. They are building a new weight room and rocker room.” Littlehead said “I think Oklahoma will offer me later,” says Littlehead, “They have been in touch with me. When I go to their summer camp I might get an offer. My family is big Oklahoma fans but I’m not really, I’m just a fan of football. If OU offered me I would go check them out and everything but I just wouldn’t jump right on it.” “I liked Oklahoma State’s junior days too, every think about it,” says Littlehead, “Oklahoma State is getting some brand new facilities and I was really anxious to see that. It should look really nice when done. “One of their top recruits” “I’ve talked to coach Gundy a little he is a nice guy and the offensive line coach. They said I was one of their top recruits. Oklahoma State said they want me at defensive tackle more than anything but the offensive coordinator wants me as an offensive guard.” Littlehead said “I was surprised a little bit by Oklahoma State,” says Littlehead “I’m starting to like them. They are coming along, getting in the picture and starting to be good.” Ole Miss To Get A Visit Former teammate at Sequoyah Nathan Stanley wants Littlehead to visit Mississippi on an official visit. “I’ll probably take an official visit to Ole Miss this fall on an official visit. The quarterback there (Stanley) wants me to come down. He said the coaches are really talking about me down there. I asked Stanley about Ole Miss and he said it pretty nice.” Littlehead said “I’m interested in Nebraska a little,” says Littlehead, “I don’t know too much about them. I haven’t seen their camp or anything. They seem to be OK. I’m going down their (Nebraska) this summer.” “The offensive line coach (Cotton) came down two weeks ago or last week to see how I was doing. He sends me letters in the mail.” Littlehead commented about his involvement with Nebraska Christian made a spring trip to Arizona. “I don’t know too much about them (Arizona). I talk to Coach Littrell a little bit. Arizona didn’t offer me yet, but I’m think they might. I’m interested in them a little bit.” Littlehead said “I might commit in February when I take all my five visits or even before football season if I feel comfortable.” says Littlehead
  18. Teaser on scout Premium Story Bonnell meets Pelini This week, Dillon Bonnell from Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Thunderridge was able to see Nebraska…twice. The big offensive lineman had some alone time with his family on the campus, getting a chance to really get a feel for the school as a prospective student and again today when he met with the entire offensive staff. What were his thoughts on the visit?
  19. what gives you the idea that bonnell will be jumping onboard soon? he has 17 schools after him ( a lot for a 3 star rating) which also includes colorado. my feelings on the kid is that our chances are slim, unless somone knows something i am not aware of. vols have offered- http://www.volnation.com/forum/tennessee-v...on-bonnell.html kentucky is trying very hard to get bonnell On Rivals I believe it said that he was trying to plan a second visit, but right now I can't seem to find the headliner.
  20. New Video From his video he definitely looks more natural as a DB (starts at 4:40).
  21. Hopefully the are not recruiting in any of the running backs that hard ( I would much rather them emphasizing getting a solid O-line). But if they are I would hope for Giovanni Bernard simply because of the in-roads to St. Thomas Aquinas.
  22. He impressed so much at LSU that he walked away with an offer. Link
