  1. Did anyone notice that Colorado's QB commit is name MUNCHIE Legaux. He should fit in nicely there in boulder.
  2. I think you are probably right, but I am holding out hope. And like I said, I wouldn't be shocked.
  3. I hope I didn't imply that. Like I said, I have no inside knowledge of anyone or anything in the program, so as far as I know Latravis could be a genious or he could be a box of rocks. I don't know. My assumption is that he is a very smart guy from the few times I have heard him interviewed and from things players and coaches have said about him. I am simply saying he is a guy who hadn't played QB for 3 years and just got thrown into the mix in a system that is very complex. My guess as to why he wasn't in the mix this year is that he ran a pure option in HS and he didn't have to read coverages to the extent that Lee or Green had to in the past. That just puts him even farther behind in addition to not having played the position in several years. All just guessing, I don't know one way or another. I do know that I was very impressed with him in the spring game and hope that he emerges, because I think he could be a nightmare for defenses.
  4. I have no inside info, but I would not be shocked to see Latravis emerge this spring and really push for the starting QB spot. Obviously Lee has been in the system for a long time, however he did not progress as we would have hoped. I know that Cody got the nod over him the entire year, but that is in this system. I know that the coaches aren't really tipping their hat too much to what the offense will be next year, but you can tell by the type of QB's we are going after that there will be a much larger emphasis on the QB running the ball. We know that Latravis can do that. He did it in highschool and he was recruited by some of the top schools to do just that. Obviously the challenge for Latravis, being only his second year at QB, will be to get the system down. If our system stays as complex as it is right now, forget it. It won't happen. However, if we simplify things quite a bit and let the QB's show what they can do with their God given ability I don't know that there is a more athletic young man on our team. Last of all, I just have that feeling. Nothing ever seems to go the way we Husker fans expect it to. Speculate all you want, but it seems like there is always a wrench thrown in there somewhere. Very recently we had another QB who was heading into his 5th year, who once he got a chance to show what he could do did not dissappoint. Up until then no one gave him a chance. I know that Ganz had 5 years at QB, but he needed every one of those years for how complex that system was. If we simplify things to the point where an athelete can just "do what he do", then I think one year in the system may be enough. I was at that spring game and Latravis looked amazing for a guy who had only been at the position for a few weeks. Latravis is actually a lot like Ganz in many ways. Both have always done things the right way. Both are guys that teammates love and respect. Neither gave up even when it looked like their eligibility might pass without ever playing a meaningful snap. Good things happen to good people, especially good people who can run like a deer and have an absolute cannon of an arm. Oh yeah, GO BIG RED!
  5. Definately, however Baker is a D-tackle. But I think we are set there too.
  6. So untrue. Back in the day I got in on many a chants. Particularly..... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNN GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN AH! MAN! GREEN!
  7. According to rivals got his in home visit yesterday. That's right, lock em up. I am really excited about our D-line in the future. I think we have two great ones in Okuyemi and Vestal. With Meredith, Williams and Ankrah we should be very good at D-end for the next few years. Now if we could only land Owa we would be Dy-no-mite. Go Big Red!
  8. I'm not sure we need him to play as a pure "Safety" because we have Rickey Thenarse, PJ Smith, and I assume Hagg will move back to Safety, so maybe Lavonte can replace Haggs position now which is kind of a hybrid Safety/LB/DB I can't remember if I read it or heard Sanders talking about it on Sports Nightly, but he seemed pretty confident that Hagg will be moving to safety and Gomes would step into that Nickel back/Hybrid spot. That makes me think that they are going to be using David at LB, although it doesn't hurt to have multiple players who can play that hybrid spot with the way that the Big 12 has been going.
  9. If this is truly the direction we are going then I really like this hire. Pelini has shown that he has an eye for coaching talent, so the sky is the limit. And if you think about it, our biggest struggle the last bunch of years on offense has been developing guys quickly. Our offense has continually led to players who have not been able to contribute for 4 or 5 years. He had the number 1 Juco Offense one of his years, so what does that say? He is able to take guys who have 1-3 years experience at the most and execute a very potent offense. Granted it is in the Junior College ranks, but the way I see it everyone is dealing with roughly the same amount of talent, so it comes down to coaching whether your talking P-wee or the NFL. GO BIG RED!
  10. Found that Kerens, TX highschool football is in Class 2A. So I guess Faulk might look a little better than he is against lesser talent, but his highlights are very impressive none the less.
  11. I did some searching and seeing as how both Marshall and Kevin Faulk were from Louisiana I doubt that they are related to Pat, although they could be more distant relatives like Cousins or Uncle/Nephew. I suppose his parents could have moved also. I'm sure we'll find out more soon.
  12. Holy $hit. Curtis who? If we can land Pat Faulk, Curtis will have done us a favor. I went back and watched Curtis Carter's highlights on youtube and while he is fast, that is about it. I know we need a deep threat, but I will take a guy who can make people miss over someone who is just simply fast any day of the week. And it looks like Faulk is no slow poke himself. Faulk reminds me of Jeremy Maclin in his highschool clips. Carter reminds me more of Marlon Lucky in that he always tries to get to the edge and all of his big plays come from simply out running people. I could be wrong, but I would love to see us land Faulk over Carter. However, it would be great to land both of them seeing as how Faulk could play RB, WR, QB or DB and probably be great at any of them. On the first link check out the 2:17 mark. Shades of Eric Crouch's run against Mizzou. I can't imagine how explosive he could be after a few years under Dobson. The only question I have is this. What classification of Highschool Football does Faulk play in? Does anyone know? That would be the only knock, if he is playing in one of the lower classes. GO BIG RED!
  13. Granted there was no instant replay back then, but if the same rules were in effect then we would likely have an outright National Championship in 1997. I tried to find a clip of this on Youtube but could not find one. I remember Washington St. trailing by less than 7 near the redzone and the officials let 15 seconds or so tick off of the clock and end the game. I believe Washington St. would have had 2 more downs to try to get into the end zone, but the officials were content letting a ton of time just tick off of the clock after a pass play was dead. Correct me if I am wrong. That was a long time ago, so I may be mistaken, but that is the way that I remember it. Had they given them that time back we would have likely been concensus National Champs. That being said. During that game the refs were VERY liberal with the clock at the end of the game. That is in sharp contrast to our game tonight were the Refs were very quick and willing to put ONE second back on the clock to give the Long Horns another chance. I have seen so many games over the course of my life where the refs let a game end when there should have clearly been a few seconds left. It has always been a part of football. If you know the clock might run out, you don't take those chances. You have to try for a field goal or take a shot at the end zone. If you want to gamble with little time left on the clock then you have to be prepared for the worst. This is why I think Bo and Carl were so upset. That clock hit zero and that has always been the end of the game. But officials made an exeption for Texas tonight. I agree that we should have never let it come down to this. We had plenty of opportunities to put this game away and we didn't, but it is very concerning that the refs made that call at the end of the game, after they had already called a very one sided game. We need to leave the Big 12. I am sick of this $hit.
  14. I was actually seeing a little bit of what you were my friend. I was always taught to look another man in the eye when he is giving you advice, correcting you, whatever. Lee would not look Pelini in the eye. This is the moment he lost my total trust. Either he was that disrespectful that he would not look Bo in the eye while he was talking to him, or he was that afraid of Bo that he would not look him in the eye, which shows no fight. Either way i didn't like it. I have kind of stood by him, but I don't think he is our man any more.
  15. Thank you Epoc. I appreciate this so much. Now I just want others to come and show up and cheer these guys when they get here. I know its late, but these guys deserve it. They have sacraficed so much and we have had the privelege of witnessing one of the greatest defenses that has ever played. I don't think I have seen one that is better. So come and show these guys your appreciation. We didn't get to give big SUH his Big 12 ring or BCS game, but we can sure let him know we appreciate everything he has given to this program and state. And that goes for all the other Seniors as well, including Phillip Dillard, Larry Asante, Matt O'Hanlan, and Barry Turner. I hope I see some of you there. GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. This is for anyone who is "in the know". Does anyone know when the Huskers return from Dallas. I really want to be there to give this team some applause and some kind words when they come off of that airplane. I don't think that I have ever witnessed a team that had so much heart, and gave so much, only to come up so short time and time again. I really think these guys gave Husker nation every ounce that they have, and I really would like to show my appreciation just by being there and giving them some applause when they get back. If anybody knows when they will be back I would really appreciate it. And please, if anyone else wants to join I know the team could use all the love they can get. Let's root our team on and give them some more to carry them on to huge things in 2010. Please let me know if you have any info. I hope I am not too late. GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. I think Rex having a big day against the Buffs really opens some things up. I think Texas is going to try to swarm when Rex has the ball because he fights so much and they will want to strip the ball if he won't go down. Don't forget Rex was a QB in highschool for a year. He was a much better runner than passer, but he can still throw the ball. I really think that if the coaches see the opening they will take it. You've got to think they have practiced this play all year when they have a RB who has a good arm. I say if we have the lead we will be conservative, but if we are behind and really struggling to move the ball I expect to see this play called.
  18. Just put your hands around your mouth. That's what i always do. It works just as well so no need to bring a cup. Point is just yell.
  19. Yeah, in the section I am in there are usually a ton of old folks surrounding me. Last night I looked around and didn't see any of them. It was such a change. Usually I am yelling by myself and people just seem annoyed with me. Last night the entire section was right there with me. I am not one to say the old folks need to stay at home, however the noise level last night was much louder for a reason. I just hope that NU can get more late games scheduled in upcoming years so that we can have more nights like last night in memorial stadium.

  21. I don't post often, although I am on here much more than I should be. I don't give a crap about star ranking. Sometimes its dead on, other times it misses big. You can have your Bud Sassers and Joshua Reeses. Some might prefer Tyler Slavin or Austin Hill. Give me Bobby Swigert any day of the week. If you disagree with me I just say watch the film. If you have seen it before, watch it again, cause this kid has it all. This is the kid we need to line up across from Curtis Carter. Carter will be a nighmare for CB's one on one. Swigert would be a nightmare of a mismatch in the slot for LB's and safeties. Pick your poison opposing defenses. Who do you want to burn you. We need Swigert. He would be our Burkhead of 2010. I'm not saying that because he is white. I say that because this kid knows football. You can see it in his every move, just like Burkhead. He's tough, smart, fast, athletic, hard working, and hard nosed, to the full extent. He has beat his opponent before they ever have a chance to tackle him. You can just see the Swagger ( or should I say Swigert ). Basselope, I know you read this message board from time to time. Your family has one hell of a football player there. I just want to say good luck and God bless with Bobby's injury, but you can see from the film a kid that won't let anything hold him down. Good luck to Bobby where ever he ends up. With that being said. GO BIG RED! Let's put the full court press on for Bobby. I want this kid N! He epitomizes Nebraska football. For those who have not seen the highlight reel; enjoy!
