I miss the days when our defense made QBs much better than Carr, Price, and Smith look terrible.

Man, I feel like we have been saying that all year... I wonder how much of that has to do with our defense not being able to create pressure or cover receivers in any consistant manner.

Maybe a Stai-Garrison combo instead of a Cotton-Garrison combo?

I tried to tell people this when they were freaking out about it in the Wyo discussion thread, but they weren't having it.

Err, if by "control" you mean "Wyoming repeatedly shot themselves in the foot with penalties and dropped passes", then yes, we were in control the whole way. I mean we never trailed and could run a power toss play about fifteen times with five different running backs and gash them for yards. We were never in danger of losing this game and the final score is reflective of what happened. Wyoming helped us out as much as they could, but so what? We won and won big. Your statement of being in control the whole way is disingenuous. Our "control" had a lot more to do with Wyoming shooting themselves in the foot. Although, you're right about the power toss plays. Our bigger, stronger athletes wore them down by the 4th quarter.

We put up 38 points without completely leaning on Taylor Martinez.

1. Coaching staff makes excellent halftime adjustments. 2. We can sustain drives to close out games against mid-major schools. 3. Rex is a beast, but we already knew that. 4. Oline is still too inconsistant. 5. Defense is still too inconsistant.

Not distorted expectations, unrealized expectations. Remember, the expectation coming into the season was this was supposed to be the deepest and maybe the best Pelini defense ever. So, no they're not '07 bad, but compared to expectations, they're really bad.

My reaction is perfectly reasonable, thank you. Should I be pleased Bo Pelini's 4th year defense is terrible? How would you like me to react? With cautious, objective skepticism? Instead of full-blown, OMG OUR DEFENSE IS AIDS AND BO IS A TERRIBLE COACH Yeah, I totally went there Mr. Strawman. Bo's always been a great defensive coach, that's why it's so baffling this defense has regressed in such embarrassing fashion. Sorry if it hurt your feelings I pointed out what's been blatantly obvious all year, I guess?

They've been terrible. At this point we should be able to plug in guys who know the system, and know how to play. I'm not expecting all-world out of the gate, but these last three games have been flat out embarrassing for our defense. Against mid-majors and a weak Pac-12 team. And it's not just our secondary.

We have only given up 7 points, and that was a result of a miscue by the secondary. I officially don't know what game you all are watching (as I post, almost another miscue by the secondary). Still, we don't "completely suck ass" by any means whatsoever, The one were Wyoming has shot it's own foot off over and over again. We can pretend we didn't just luck out (again) on that Wyo dropped pass. The defense has been terrible all year.

Our biggest problem on offense is obviously the line. I didn't expect Pelini's year four defense to completely suck ass. What a joke.

a more athletic defender will catch up to that. Thank god we're in the Big Ten now.

That is hilarious! I am cracking up right now! Cool post. Cause we don't play up or down to our opponents or anything. :confucius Yeah that's been the excuse for 4 weeks now. Wisconsin has had no problem dismantling their opponents so far. I keep waiting for the D to improve but we just haven't. Poor tackling, poor recognition of plays, poor secondary coverage, poor dline play and we haven't played an offense anywhere close to the calibur of wisconsin's. And that is the difference between Wisconsin and us. They can put away cream puffs. You think that makes them a superior football team? No. It doesn't. Poor recognition of plays? They broke one slant... They have scored one touchdown. I'm okay with giving up one touchdown each half, aren't you? I see a lot of improvement from the defense scheme wise, still a little shoddy tackling. But I'm sure that'll get fixed. It's all in the way you percieve things. One TD per half is fine...but we've been missing tackles. A lot. I don't remember us missing this many tackles since 08. Wisconsin IS a superior football team right now. They are playing like one. So I don't know why Husker fans suddenly EXPECT us to raise our level. Anything can happen but for 4 weeks now the defense would've been shredded by Wisconsin's offense. But yeah I'm sure everything will click next week. I like the optimistic outlook! Looks half full to me. I'm sure you disagree though. We'll do fine against Wisconsin It gets wider towards the top, so it's more like ⅓ full. Or ⅔ empty, however you want to look at it. Either way, our lousy defense is going to get shredded by Wisconsin.

Yeah hate to say it, but Wisconsin is going to hang 50 on us.
