  1. I'm shopping for tickets for the game on saturday. But I don't want to sit in the visitor section. I only go to a game about every 3 or 4 years, so I'm not familiar with the stadium. Does anyone know which sections are the visitor ones? Thanks!!
  2. I learned that Bo is still a jerk at post-game press conferences.
  3. might be his best all around game of his career. running, passing, decisions, progressions, composure after a bit INT.
  4. Martinez is quieting my criticism tonight. He has stepped it up and has improved 10 fold over last week!!
  5. now THAT's how you go through your progressions!!!!!! GBR!
  6. besides that bad INT, Taylor is actually playing a great game! The defense has been the big problem this game. If the defense can step it up, we have a chance!
  7. ? a la Kenny Wilson a few years back, who dropped a TV while he had an infection in his leg, snapping his femur and never returning to football. He showed a lot of promise.
  8. hopefully he doesn't carry any TVs while he's got that infection!
  9. Tommie Frazier and his career 50% completion rate say "Hello!" This is NOT 1994 anymore! There were about 12 good teams in the 90s. With the money, scholarship reductions, etc today, the game is way different. Parity is real. We're not the 1994 Huskers! Please stop living in the past. We have great WRs this year, or Martinez would be completing about 25% of his passes. How many great catches have those guys made this year on terrible thrown balls? And Taylor Martinez is not equal to Tommie Frazier. Tommie was one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) players to ever play the game. How can we compare Taylor to him?? This is getting annoying... I know Taylor isn't Tommie's equal - I watched every game Tommie played, and you're right that he's the best there ever was. But he still completed a piss-poor percentage of his passes and we were successful. Why? It wasn't because he was a great passer, it was because of when the passes were called. Ignore the O Line and Frazier and the RBs, NONE of which we have now (I hear you, treyball3). What we had back then was a cohesive play-calling gameplan, something I don't see us showing these days. The plays were called in sequence to set up other plays, and if we're doing that now it's nearly impossible to tell. It doesn't seem like it to me. I hear what you're saying. If we put Taylor into the 1994 Huskers, he might be a lot better. But I think he would've completed a lot less passes, because I don't think the WRs were as good back then compared to what we have now. We can't just ignore the Oline and RBs, and WRs. Its a team game. And we have what we have. Disclaimer: I was only 15 in 1994, so my memory may be inaccurate

  11. Exactly. Now is the perfect time in the season. If it doesn't happen now, it's not going to happen, barring an injury to Taylor. I hate that we have SO much talent on this team, but we can't get the ball to them.
  12. Exactly! I have no idea if Carnes will be any better. But maybe he will. Can't be any worse. Cotton gets benched for one false start penalty, but Martinez, after 3 INTs that lead to 21 points stays in the game, when its a blowout. I thought taking him out at least for a series to regroup would've been a good idea. Two reasons we know Carnes wouldn't be any better - Martinez has been told to avoid contact. The coaches know that if he gets hurt, we're screwed. Carnes will also be the first to tell you that Martinez is the guy, not him. Just ask him. Got his cell number? kidding, kidding. If he's not ready, he should be getting some time in these games... get him ready. If Martinez goes down, Carnes has no experience...
  13. I understand being frustrated with a guy who's not leading us to victories, but this isn't even remotely true. I've watched Taylor lower his shoulder several times this year, and that's despite the fact that coaches have told him to avoid contact. He did it several times last year as well. Further, he's juked guys out of their socks several times - most notably the shoulder/ball fake against the Washington linebacker in the third quarter, and there are plenty of other examples. It's clear you're not in love with Martinez as a quarterback and that's OK, you don't have to be a huge fan. But if you're going to critique him and be taken seriously it helps if you talk about actual flaws. You're just making stuff up here, and that's no way to hold a conversation. I wouldn't use the ball fake against Washington has an example, because after that fake it threw it directly to a Washington defender, fortuantly he missed him too. Knapplc I apprecitate how strongly you and Bshirt defend him, he is just a kid and I'm sure he's trying 100% out there, but the reality is he really isn't a runner in the sense we talk about premier running backs. I think the Crouch run against Missouri is a really good example, he made numerous people miss, and that is something TM does not do. He is a sprinter, plain and simple. If he gets the corner, look out he can take it the distance, but he doesn't make people miss, he doesn't cut back against the flow. He is not the type of runner who makes something out of nothing. Again, as I've said numerous times, I'm not calling for him to be benched, but I really believe a series or two where he has a chance to get his head together, and give Carnes some real time would be beneficial. If he cant handle being on the bench for a series or two, is he mentaly strong enough to play the position? He's had every opportunity and still shows little to no improvement. I know the excuse of the day is "it's a new offense for him" and "Beck didn't play to his strengths". You know what excuses are like....everyone has one. And the statements that Carnes is not ready, how does anybody know. We've seen what, two series? What if it turns out that he can do it, when do we find out? Bottom line, when something is not working, try something different. If we had put Carnes in at some point in the second half, what would it have hurt?
  14. This pretty much sums up what I've been trying to say. This is a much more eloquent way to say it. I would just add the word "much" between passing and outweighs. "What we gain in passing MUCH outweighs what we lose in running" It just sucks that TO & Frank were so stupid playing those qbs (Frost, Frazier, Crouch, etc) who were FAR, FAR better runners than passers. They obviously didn't know squat about cfb! The problem is that Martinez isn't THAT good of a runner. He has straight line speed. He doesn't know how to juke or break tackles. I think of Crouch's 95 yard scramble against Mizzou. Ever seen Taylor move side to side like that? Or how Frost and Frazier would run through and over people breaking tackles as they go or laying to wood to the defender. Ever seen Taylor do that? No. He runs through a giant hole fast, other than that, he's not even a runner. He needs a "giant hole" to get yardage? lol! Glad you know our Oline the last 1.5 years has been 1995 vintage (or better...even they didn't create GIANT holes all the time). I learn something new every day. Sorry, needs a giant hole in order to break a long one. By giant, I only mean enough room for him to get through mostly untouched. I didn't really define that very well. He still gets the 6-8 yard runs regularly. But when he carries it 20 times a game, he's bound to get them.

  16. if he's going to be this big of a baby, and we think he's not really a QB, then I say good riddance... haha

  18. Against the better teams, Martinez doesn't even break away. He has 98 rushing yards on 32 carries in the last two games. If Carnes is a better passer, and only runs for 20-40 yards a game, that's not much less than Martinez is running and he'd be passing better. And we have a whole stable of RBs, so it's not even that important that the QB runs for 60 yards at a time. If the QB is a threat to scramble for 8-12 yards when a play breaks down, that's enough of a dual threat QB to keep defenses guessing. I just don't see how any other options can be worse. We have so many playmakers right now in Turner, Reed, Enunwa, Bell, Green, Burkhead, etc. and no way to get them the ball. Even the backs get less rushes than they should. Martinez seems to change the play to call his own number a lot. I've been down on this team since Martinez became the starter, even when we're winning.
  19. That's what's so frustrating about the myopic nature of "bring on the backup." Yes, that is exactly what will happen. And when Carnes is out there making mistakes, people will pine for the glory days when we had a QB who could take it to the house on any given play. Everyone is frustrated with the development period of Taylor Martinez. I imagine Taylor is rather frustrated as well. People tend to forget that. So, some of our fans were okay to write off Carnes after his first series in college but we have to wait years to allow Taylor to develop?? Would it really hurt anything to put in Carnes for a single series in the first half and a single series in the 2nd half? Are you guys all going to jump all over him when Martinez gets hurt and he gets thrown to the wolves without any significant experience? I really don't care if getting Carnes a few snaps hurts Taylor's confidence. He shouldn't have any based on how he plays. So what would have happened had we just run the option? How many more times would he have fumbled? As usual his teammates bailed him out and recovered it for him. I wish there was a "like" button like there is on facebook. I would "like" this post. Carnes is the backup and yet he has barely any reps in a live game. How is that for planning? And yes, we're getting pretty good at recovering fumbles. We've had a lot of practice the last few years.
  20. So he needs a perfect situation in every game to be successful. Sorry but if he is so athletic then he can overcome some bad playcalling, kind of like other mobile QB's. They playcalling was bad from the 2Q on, but if the play is in the playbook then he should be able to handle it by now. Taylor is not improving and all people are asking for is a QB that will. Maybe Brion, RK3, or Turner won't be any better, but it's time for Bo to find out. Also maybe putting Taylor into a competition will make him sink or swim. I agree. Taylor isn't getting better. And yeah, maybe it won't be Brion, maybe it's RK3, or Turner. And maybe it'll be none, but like you said. Now is the time to find out. Get some time in the OSU game, if it goes well, then get the reps in practice for two weeks over the bye week and start at Minnesota. the timins is perfect. If it doesn't happen now, its not going to happen at all, unless Taylor gets hurt.
  21. He needs to do this at some other positions too *cough* QB *cough*. These tweets and hearing rumors about Carnes wanting to leave, and the way that players get into Bo's doghouse (aka Z. Lee) and don't get to see the field has me a little nervous about the way this program is going. There's a lot I love about Bo as our coach, but it seems we're on a slippery slope here. The way the next few weeks are handled will show us a lot.
  22. His only strength is straight line running. How do you call a game plan around that? If your QB can't hit the most basic of throws and find the check down routes, then its really hard to game plan at all, and you should start thinking of finding another QB. We have RBs that can run, we need someone that can pass or the box just gets loaded and they play a basic zone waiting for the QB to mess up. A good passing QB that can scramble when needed is what we need. Whether or not Carnes can do that is yet to be seen. run the ball, simple screens, hand off to turner on an end around or sweep. establish the run, then try to open the pass game on play action or simple short passes. beck is upstairs, he should know what t-mart's progression should be. tell t-mart to go to his check down first or just to focus on two wrs. simplify the game for him, help him get the ball to playmakers, even if it's just pounding the ball. the gameplan should have focused on t.o.p knowing our weaknesses and their strengths. The problem is he can't even hit or find the simple screens. He's lucky we have some really good WRs right now, or his comp % would be closer to 35 or 40%. Those guys have made some great catches on some terribly thrown balls. And TMart doesn't have a progession. Its one and done and run.
  23. These mirror my thoughts quite well. Its not just this game. He's a mess all the time. And, yes, no wonder Cody transferred. If you feel you're not getting a fair chance, why would you stay. We'll be lucky to keep Carnes at this rate. I also don't understand why they stubbornly stick with Taylor, the experiment has failed. Time to try something else. If nothing else is tried and Martinez doesn't improve by the end of the year (I doubt he does), then I'll start to question the coaching of this team.
