  1. I personally like that BSU did something different. What fun would the world be if we all had to conform to the same standards on everything. As for red turf...I would say no as you wouldn't be able to see the blood of our opponents spilt upon the turf :-p
  2. I think it's a bit too early in the season to tell yet...it's easier to bounce back in the polls when you lose the first game of the season rather than losing it later in the season. As for the Big XII...I don't think it will mean much. Bradford is important to OU but he isn't the entire team.
  3. I'll buy a round for everyone at BYU LOL...rounds of apple juice!
  4. Good solid effort! A bit dissapointed with the number of penalties but I'll give them some slack since it was the first game of the season. But I can't complain...we kept the team out of the endzone!
  5. I'm sorry. My watchsite isn't the greatest either...just in my living room. :-p
  6. I agree. I know the real challenge will be VT, but I can't complain with how this game has been played. I think it bodes well for the season. Even better that we're sticking it to Schellenberger (sp?). God I hate that guy.
  7. Well, I think the huskers have improved upon the # of turnovers per game stat already :-p
  8. Helu really hasn't had that many carries either...impressive!
  9. Nice to meet you! Are you a NE native or did you spend some time at NU on a study abroad? My husband is from Scotland...I've been working on indoctrinating him :-p Nice INT...O'Hanlon is having a great game tonight.
  10. So far pleased with Lee. I could forgive him for some bad decisions in his very first game as a starter but so far he's done a fairly good job. I can't really make a educated opinion until after the VT game though.
  11. Since there seems to be a lot of us out here, just drop by this thread and say hi. Would love to get to know some of the other local husker fans...I do see plenty of Husker gear around here on Saturdays but I'm a bit surprised how few places we have to watch the game.
  12. Hi, just dropping in from Chicago. Sure miss gameday in Lincoln these days...last time I went to a game Callahan was coach :-/ My husband is from Scotland so I'm gradually getting him into Husker Nation, and he seems to enjoy it. Can't wait to be able to take him to a game...he's taken me to see his favorite team in the UK and it is nowhere near as great as a Saturday afternoon in Memorial Stadium :-) 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? - since birth 2) What/who led you to The Nation? - no one in particular, just grew up with it. 3) Where are you from originally? - Saline County, Nebraska 4) Where do you live now? - Chicago 5) Favorite Husker memory? - Seeing Schlesinger charge into the end zone, for NU to win the 94' Orange Bowl. 6) Worst Husker memory? - As bad as TT beating us 70 - 10 was, I think seeing CU bowl over us in 2001 spelled the beginning of dark era :-p But if you talk about off the field, the day Brook Berringer died was a pretty hard one. 7) Number of home games attended? - Only 2! 8) Number of away games attended? none 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? - Blackshirts hat 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) - The Bird's Nest in Chicago, and back in NE with my dad at home. 11) Favorite all time player? - Mike Minter 12) WCO or Option? - Option...that is what won us 3 National Championships :-) 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? - No brainer...Billy Byrne. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? - One of my friends was Lil' Red, so I have to go with him. Even her Athletic Department ID had the photo of Lil' Red on it (instead of the normal student ID photo!) 15) Favorite Husker play? - Whatever gets us to the end zone. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? - one of the Empyrean Ales from Lazlo's when available, but normally I'm just a good ole' Coke Zero person. 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) - google.
  13. If anyone has the link could you pm me as well? I've combed the internet high and low. Will be willing to send chocolate chip cookies in exchange ;-)
  14. I'm not a fan either. Covercharge, and just a very bland atmosphere. I go to The Bird's Nest...it's about 1 block north of Southport and Fullerton. The waitstaff isn't terribly friendly but it seems the crowd is friendlier and the food/drink reasonably prices. No pretensions either. Btw...am I the only one that is surprised there aren't more Husker bars in Chicago? I know there are quite a few Nebraskans in the city...you would think there would be at least a few more places to go.
  15. I will be in Leeds on 11/7/2009...I'd be curious to see if there are any Husker fans up in that area and if they would want to get together for the Oklahoma game. I've heard that there is a group in London that does get together for games, but I have no idea who the contact is or where they get together. I think the last contact was named Jodi Bartek when I googled around for info, but I'm not sure if she still is the contact.
