  1. Tech actually got better as the game went along. 7 points in the first and 21 points in the second half. VT did not figure it out. Plus we fumbled at their 10 yard line when we were about to score which led to one of their touchdowns...that game should not have been close (should have put up 28 in the second half) but i digress. No they did not figure it out, in fact it become more potent as the game went on. Ga Tech will always be under the shadow of UGA which is a disadvantage if you are trying to get the same players. That is why using the option is a huge advantage ... you can get players that you otherwise would not even come close to getting. I would put Ga Tech on the same recruiting plane with NU. Though we are closer to the coast, closer to Florida, etc. which have much of the talent we also have to compete with many other schools in the area. And since our reputation is not top tier yet (I have a feeling we are on our way with PJ!!) we will often not get recruits that other schools want unless they are from the ATL. The option has changed that and we can get talent from many places. NU on the other hand has the problem of being in Nebraska frankly, and running a unique offense would help steal players from places like Texas, Oklahoma, and Mizzou.
  2. If Suh is to win Nebraska cannot lose another game except a possible championship game to Texas. Not fair, but it is how it is.
  3. The ACC is just like the Big 12 in that respect. In the Coastal you have VT, GT, Miami, Virginia, UNC, and Duke. In the Atlantic you have FSU, Clemson, BC, Maryland, NC State, and Wake Forest. The title matchup should be two coastal teams since all the Atlantic teams have at least 2 division losses currently! But that will not happen and the Atlantic will get whipped in the championship, just like the North usually does in the Big 12.
  4. 320 is ridiculous and unnecessary. All you need are about 15 plays that you run well. Execution wins not exotic plays TBH.
  5. If Lee goes out and plays well the rest of the year he will own the state and people will respect him that much more for going through this. It is all in his hands.
  6. And here we go!!!!!!!!! give him a break he goes to UGAy.
  7. why not get to the title game and knock Texas out of NC consideration? Not impossible. That which does not kill you can only make you stronger. this team will be fired up and angry about last week. I see a beatdown this week.
  8. There's a huge difference between passion and rudeness. that line can be blurred if he is successful. I mean, in the heyday of NU Osbourne was not exactly running a team of saints ... to win you need an edge to you and your team.
  9. All I can can is: just win baby. He can do whatever he likes....yell at officials, not talk to the media, piss of people within NU, but at the end of the day if he has a ring that cures all. Since things are not going well (RELATIVELY, I mean come on 1 big 12 loss and the world is ending?) he is being questioned but if he were winning it would be "wow what a passionate guy, just what we need!"
  10. The option uses your speed against you much of the time. It is brain power and athletic ability that beats the option. If the offense is more athletic than the defense the option will make you look ridiculous ... you can win games with 0 completed passes. As an example against Va Tech we completed 1 pass and won. they knew what was coming, they had speed, but they could not stop it. We do not have world beaters at the offensive positions by any means with the exception of a great B-Back in Dwyer, but he even only ran for 80 some yards. It is kinda weird but I view the option as more of a "team" offense than any other type. If the offensive unit plays as a team it will beat even a much more talented D which plays as less of a cohesive unit. BTW, congrats on the win. I hated seeing you play VT, because I like you both. I wish we could liberate your offensive staff, lol. Back in 08 or whenever both GT and NU were coachless I thought it would be very likely that PJ would go to NU because of the tradition of option football! But I know Nebraska as a state loves Bo so that also made sense, moreover I am glad PJ landed with us! I think they are both good coaches... PJ more of an offensive miracle worker and Bo more of a defensive miracle worker. It made sense to get Bo since the D was the problem when NU was making the transition. I say put em both on the same staff and you get a reincarnation of the 90's huskers.
  11. From what I have seen Lee fails to find open receivers in a reasonable amount of time. Either that or the receivers are unable to get separation, but I would guess it is mostly on Lee since the very good quarterbacks can often make people open with throws to the appropriate places. Sometimes he sits there, scans the field, moves up in the pocket, scans the field, rolls out, scans the field, and STILL cannot hit an open man. that is all on the quarterback.
  12. The reason the fans have been regarded as so good is because the team has been so good. Plain and simple. All people react the same way. If your team is disappointing you will sit there and get angry, boo, etc., and generally not be a "good" fan. Nebraska was so good for so long that that side of the fans never came out. Now it is trying times and the fans react exactly as fans do...with frustration. Happens everywhere. Why do all of the top tier teams have "good" fan bases? Because they are winners!!!

  14. Well the option basically shrinks the field and therefore it is designed to be effective from inside the 10. The WC spreads the field and therefore it is not as effective when the receivers do not have room to operate. A good running game will cure that though.
  15. It is all relative to what you expect out of the team. If you expect a NC contender year in and year out then you might as well not root for a team because you will always be disappointed.
  16. USC is in a prospect rich environment, unlike Nebraska. I think scheme is that much more important at a place like NU because you will not consistently get top 5 recruiting classes like a Texas or SC. Making players go from the coast to a school that is "in the middle of nowhere" is really tough. The vast majority of players on GT are from nearby the Atlanta area and that is not a coincidence. Nearby Lincoln does not have but a couple D1 football players per year.
  17. Correct. Nebraska Dominated in the 90's with the option, Florida dominated in the 90's with the run and gun, USC dominates with the west coast. All you need is the right players.
  18. I think you guys are severely overrating. Last week Husker fans were on top of the world thinking that they would roll the North and were the favorites. this week you would swear the team has no talent and will lose out. Nothing is ever as bad as it seems and nothing is ever as good as it seems. I can assure you Neb will not lose to ISU.
  19. This would have happened if the blackshirts were given out or not. Just let em keep their blackshirts the games that have been played with the tradition are already over the top.
  20. I would go with Green. If you have a nothing there already you really cannot go downhill.
  21. What would make the O better is to have more talent. Watson will be the scapegoat but I think the QB position is the biggest problem.
  22. So, in your omniscient opinion, Jacory Harris is terrible? Because he was worse against Va Tech than Lee was. And he destroyed Ga Tech. Did you see Georgia Tech's defense tonight? The way GT wins is by offensive firepower. 30 points can be put on us by average at best QBs. You didn't know that but I won't hold your ignorance against you. the only decent defense Harris has beaten is OU and they are even an enigma seeing as they have only beaten Tulsa, Idaho State and Baylor... You didn't answer the question. Jacory Harris was f'ing terrible against Va Tech. Zac Lee was slightly better. So is Harris a legit college QB? If so, why isn't Lee? Don't you look like a fool now. Lee is P-I-T-I-F-U-L. And take it from me, a person who only watches when the Huskers play real teams and not little sisters of the poor.
  23. Zac Lee needs to pick it up or this team will never be what it is destined to be. I'm not blaming him for the lateral but I am blaming him for an offense that cannot move the ball in any big games thus far.
  24. There will be games where the other coach just prepares his defense well and you will lose. But if you truly have the superior team it does not matter what type of offense you use you will end up scoring. the only thing that the type of offense dictates is how the team is perceived. An option offense is probably viewed as more 'hard' or 'powerful' while a heavy dose of passing will have you labeled as 'soft' or finesse'. It really does not matter though since both can put up points in bunches with the right players.
