  1. Just a thought here, and maybe it’s completely wrong, who knows. I think we all know that our fundamentals are poor, pretty much across board, but especially tackling. That has been talked about and pointed out so much that it’s become the standard. We’re used to seeing it. So the two missed tackles, while I’m sure were noticed, just weren’t worth bringing up again when right next to the miss was a perfect example of the lack of “want to” that this team has. I know when I was coaching, while physical mistakes, ie a missed tackle, are aggravating, at least they were making an effort. It’s when there was no effort at all...
  2. True. And maybe at this point you have to gamble a bit. You see the defense loading up front after a couple series, you maybe at least take a couple shots deep. At least show that you will try. At least make them give the passing game a thought. The pass back to Vedral was great, slow up an aggressive D. Anything other than QB draw or swing pass. Its time for us to dictate things once in a while.
  3. I agree. Great point about the defense adjusting to what we’re going to do depending on which QB is in. But how much more would they do that now with Luke in? Outside of the one pass, it was QB draw over and over. Seems to come back back to our staff changing some things up to make the other team adjust to us for a change.
  4. That seems a very fair question(although I know it wasn’t addressed to me) And really comes down to personal opinion. I simply like Vedral’s decisive approach. He is aggressive on his runs, attacks the defender. I like the way he throws, even though the numbers are similar. The offense, to me anyway, just seems to operate a little more smoothly. And I do realize it’s been a limited sample size, with both good and bad.
  5. Isn’t that the topic of the thread? do have anything to contribute.
  6. You know full well what was childish about the comment. We can respectively disagree on the football part without without resorting to that.
  7. So it was only Vedral who got smoked at Minnesota?
  8. So now a civil discussion as denigrated to childish comments. I guess it doesn’t surprise everyone with your history. How do you suppose either of your two much much better options would have fared against Minnesota? He shouldn’t have had to drive them down to take a lead with three minutes left. We should have already been up by three scores. What about the first half, when he started in Purdue territory?
  9. How can you say he’s not? We’ve seen Luke for what, three or four series. Where Frost didn’t let him throw (outside of the great playaction where he still almost missed a wide open Noah? But he did complete it).
  10. I’m not of the video game generation. I don’t care about those numbers, just the ones in the win column. I just want to watch AM be decisive again. Run with authority and conviction. Play like he did last year. Super lame RB’s? Maybe we shouldn’t run our super lame 190lb freshman right behind that horrible center (who just happens to occupy the space between two horrible guards!). I would agree about the w/r situation. But how would we know if our TE’s could be productive or not? Bottom line, to me anyway (and a lot of people here), Vedral gives us the best opportunity, right now, to win.
  11. I guess that’s as good an answer as anyone else will have.
  12. Who knows. My feeling watching Vedral is he is just too stereotyped as that typical Nebraska kid who isn’t really talented enough, but could be “serviceable” in a pinch (think Matt Turman). I think he can operate our offense at a higher level than just that. Im glad Smothers can run. AM could run last year too.
  13. AM. He isn’t better than Vedral right now. If last years AM comes back yes, better by a large margin. IF Luke. Yes, lot of potential. Has played one year of high school QB prior to this season. Upside is no guarantee. Smothers. A true freshman coming in. A year ago Gebbia was that guy. Then got beat out by AM. Putting a lot of stock in a true freshman. Vedral. You know what you have. A kid who is more talented than people believe (the small town Nebraska kid thing again). Who knows the offense, his smart and decisive. Who has been effective in his limited opportunities. 4th best, maybe? But that’s a pretty large leap based on a lot of speculation about kids development. Development by a staff who this year hasn’t shown a lot of that.
  14. That’s a nice subtle, tongue in cheek slam. “Exactly what I think he is as a QB and athlete”. 4th best QB on the team next year?
  15. Why is said coach still playing them then?
  16. You know, just because he’s from small town Nebraska doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the necessary talent. He is a talented athlete, and right now he’s hands down a better QB than AM. You’ve been down on him from early on this year. And yet, when he’s played he’s outperformed AM. And it hasn’t been close. We win this game today if he takes the second half snaps.
  17. We simply will not change anything up during the course of the game (or at halftime). We run the same offensive plays over and over and over (if I never see another swing pass it will be too soon) on offense and we do nothing to pressure the QB when our front three can’t get there (which they don’t). And we never seem to bench a player who isn’t performing (all those adamant AM supporters who refused to entertain the idea of giving Vedral a series or two, looking at you). The stubbornness of this staff astounds me. All you fans saying it’s talent and players haven’t “bought” in? Then bench their asses. You think it’s going to be any worse than that garbage we’re seeing out there now. Ultimately, it’s on the staff. If players aren’t performing, whose fault is that? Either that they’re playing that poorly, or that they are even on the field.
  18. Nope, not an issue. I know it’s not because Nebfanantic told me so when I posted the exact same thing in the first half. That we were going to get him hurt continuously running him inside.
  19. He’s already been hurt this game, and a previous game. I love the kid’s heart, and of course you have mix it up inside and outside with each back, but his bread and butter is outside and in space. So no, funny man, I don’t have a crystal ball. But I do have eyes.
  20. The fact is, Wandale is going to get hurt if we keep giving him the ball between the tackles. And quite frankly, right now there is a lot more negative going on then positive. There’s a reason people are focusing on that......because it’s been a recurring theme this year.
  21. His about something over the middle that isn’t 30 yards. Like maybe to one of our tightends. Everyone knows we go deep or throw the swing pass. They’re all over those plays.
  22. Great. Pick two plays out of how many similar ones that succeeded. Fact is, most of them haven’t. Plus Wandale is getting killed running inside. He’s going to be lucky to finish this game.
