  1. I've got 2 spots for these 4 guys. Thoughts? Steven Jackson: I like the idea that he's going to be good for at least 60-70 (100 if I'm lucky) yards and maybe a lucky TD like last week. PROS- Consistent, Offense's featured (only) weapon, in general RB > WR. CONS- Cincy Defense, Rams Offense. C.J. Spiller: Same deal as Jackson because they play a tough Miami run D. He could easily get 30 yards, but could also explode with big plays and maybe score through the air too. PROS- Big play ability, RB > WR. CONS- Dolphins Defense. Julio Jones: Could get me 20 yards, could get me 100 and 2 TDs like last week. PROS- Lots of targets, deep threat that could explode at any moment, red zone jump ball target. CONS- Inconsisent, tendency to drop passes, Jags Defense. Jabar Gaffney: The big factor for Jabar is that the Giants D has given up 10 TDs to WRs in the last 4 weeks! He seems to be finding a groove of getting 70-80 yards and a TD. PROS- Becoming consistent, Giants Defense. CONS- Redskins Offense. They would all be fighting for one spot if DeMarco didn't get injured. Oh well. I think I'm leaning towards Spiller (despite Miami D) and Gaffney (because of Giants D).
  2. anyone have any clue when Bo will announce the staff changes? pretty sure Watson and Gilmore's contracts run out today so can he make it official? i assumed it'd be today or maybe tomorrow.
  3. didn't read through the thread so SIAP. supposedly he was sexing up UNL students.
  4. On rivals now, Sean Callahan says there was a recruiting dinner in which every coach was present except for Sanders, Gilmore, Watson, and Bo. I'm sure we'll be hearing some great news tomorrow about who is no longer a Nebraska coach (except for Sanders. sucks to lose him). Another rumor being passed on is that Frost and Beck will be co-offensive coordinators. I'll believe that one when I see it though.
  5. I'm going to have my "Rumor Bashers" on this, but I'm confident enough in my source to post the following: Marvin Sanders is gone. All I know is that it was based on "legality" issues. Whether or not it was a football-related issue, I don't know. Clearly this is why we hired Raymond. The same source has told me that Gilmore is also gone, but he didn't sound as sure as he did about Sanders. What I've gathered from this is Sanders is definitely gone. I have no doubts about that. Based on what my source said, I'd give it a very solid chance that Gilmore is gone too.
  6. anyone else a vikings fan? glad to see that both of my teams have a DT named Kevin Williams. here's to hoping NU's Kevin turns out to be the Pro Bowler that Minnesota's is.
  7. um yeah you really dont need to be talking to recruits about that and then on top of it coming on here and posting about it. we dont need any recruiting violations. clearly i didn't walk up to the kid and start swaying him toward nebraska. it was casual conversation. he was a nice kid too. we even joked about him having to live up to the legend that is alex henery but he said that won't bother him at all. obviously it could just be the hype of the moment and the visit, but he sounded genuine in saying he'd switch to nebraska. anyways the kid can't get in trouble because Joe Blow posts on Huskerboard that he saw him at a party. for all you guys know, i could be lying.
  8. just been told by mauro (his name is mauro, not maro) himself that he will be switching his commitment to nebraska. it was at a party so he may have just been happy and soaking in the atmosphere, but he told me he is definitely switching to NU.
  9. And even at that, if he got a 70, lets say he did better by one point on another date in a particular section, they would take that score and he would have a 71. It's a cumlative score across all areas and all tests. With that said, just because Braylon got the score, doesn't mean he will make it in time for the Spring semester. Both the UNL Admissions and I beleive the NCAA Eligibility Center are closed this week, meaning that the paperwork he needs all has to be delivered and accepted in just 5 business days next week. We've seen the UNL Admissions office have their issues before, we had Kavario Middleton that wanted to transfer to us last fall, but it was so close to the start of school that he couldn't make it through our admissions office, we had the Roburt Sallie saga. Don't count your chickens until their hatched Very true. Still a relief to know that he'll be here at least by summer. If this paperwork doesn't get in in time for him to make it during the spring, I say we fire everybody in the admissions office.
  10. I already posted this in another Heard thread, but I didn't realize it wasn't the official one: Well here's the deal. It's obviously looking good because Braylon got an 18, BUT... he needs a 71 cumulative. If you take 71 divided by 4 (the number of sections on the ACT), that is equal to 17.75, which is rounded up to 18. The problem is, a 17.5 is also rounded up to an 18, and a 17.5 is only a cumulative score of 70, leaving him one point short. Basically, Braylon may have gotten a 70, 71, 72, or 73 cumulative score based on him telling us that he scored an 18. As long as he didn't get a 70, he will make it in. So basically think of it as a 75% chance that Braylon is N!

  12. I agree it definitely should be "through in life" but as often as i've heard stride or stripes, i think it is strife, or at least that would make the most sense...
  13. Tressel Leaving??? Honestly I hope this is true. This may be the best time for Tressel to leave. Bo is still a year or two away from being 'Ohio State material'. Maybe our semi-disappointing season was a blessing-in-disguise.
  14. Alright I'm in the 2nd week of the championship, down 6 points. I need to start one of these players: 1. Kenny Britt @ KC- He seems to be the new favorite target of Kerry Collins. Unfortunately, that means Brandon Flowers will be covering him. What's weird is that KC has given up a TD pass to the opposing team's #1 receiver in each of the last 5 games. 2. Fred Jackson vs. NE- New England's defense isn't as good as you'd think, but they've been playing well lately. Jackson gets a lot of touches no matter what, so just one big play can give him a good day. He is also about 190 yards away from a 1000 yard season with two games to play. Last year he was in the same situation, and Buffalo gave him the ball more than they probably should have so that he could get to 1000, so maybe they'll do that again. 3. Marshawn Lynch @ TB- Tampa no longer has the intimidating defense it used to and Lynch is Seattle's best play-maker. In the past few weeks, he would get a lot of touches on the opening drive, Seattle would score, then they would abandon the run game. If I knew Seattle would stick with him the whole game, I think he'd be my starter, but I don't know if I can trust them. I think I'm leaning toward Britt right now, but if it's bad weather in KC, then who knows. He also was my starter last week so I tend to stick with my past starters until they prove themselves unworthy. I don't expect many responses, if any. For those of you who do, thanks! Edit: Now add in Rashad Jennings vs. Was- Mo Jo Drew is Doubtful, so if he doesn't play, this guy would get the start. Obviously it'd be a risky move, but if anybody knows anything about this guy, is he good?
  15. Sorry I didn't read any further down the thread than this post but what is the big problem with Cotton? I have NEVER been a Barney Cotton supporter, but this year I think he proved his worth. Our line was fine. Was it dominant in every game? No, but it was pretty consistent. They played well against Oklahoma. Any sack we had was honestly Taylor's fault for not finding the open receivers, not scrambling successfully, and not throwing the ball away. I still am keeping my eye on Cotton to see how he does next year, but there is no way he needs to be replaced more than Watson.
  16. He is on the scout team, his name is Brion Carnes. I kid. I guess what really ticked me off, all year Taylor didn't really seem like a freshman playing QB, he looked young and inexperienced, but rarely rattled or panicky. It showed Saturday night, it probably the most important game of the year. He will take that loss as a reminder and perhaps motivation to really commit to the program and the position of QB. From a reliable source I have heard that Carnes is not a good passer. He says that during drills all the wide receivers try to flock away from Brion because they know they have no chance of catching any balls. Still a freshman though and based on this video he seems like he definitely has the arm talent. Hopefully we can get Wats out of here so he can get developed as a good QB much like his cousin T-Fraziaaaa.
  17. Taylor Martinez = Tate Forcier. Made people drool over their play early on as Freshmen. People realized they aren't that good. Michigan found Shoelace. Now where's our Shoelace?
  18. there are a lot of things to question in this game, but here's what made me pretty angry. 3 minutes to go, ball at the 50 yard line (which it shouldn't have been because Martinez should have thrown it away). Oklahoma gets called for being off sides so now we are at the 45. it may seem ridiculous, but why not kick the 62 yard field goal? Alex made the 53 yarder by a mile. i'm all for trusting the defense to get a 3 and out with 3 minutes left, which they did. but did the coaches really think the offense would push us back into field goal range? i say put the ball in the hands (or on the foot) of the teams MVP Alex Henery and let him show the world that he is the best kicker in NCAA history.
  19. I've actually never disliked Iowa, but I'm sure by Nov 26, 2011 that will change. Iowa will clearly be our biggest rival. Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State are all candidates as secondary rivals.
  20. I'm pretty sure this rumor is true. Got a friend that spoke to Mike McNeill. McNeill said that none of the seniors (himself included) and probably most of the team don't want Taylor there. Honestly the kid is a great talent but players with this attitude (if true) can really cause a team to implode. It's not worth it and personally I would like to see Carnes, Cody, or Turner (in that order) starting next year.
  21. Lots of predictions for Nebraska vs. Arizona in the Alamo. That would suck. Not including games such as the Rose Bowl where the champions from conferences play each other as a tradition. Not Fun
  22. You're kidding right? This whole board is about people whining. I'm just whining about something other than firing Watson, or Beebe treating us badly, or the Big XII has some kind of conspiracy, or the refs....... It was more a whiny observation that almost nobody likes Nebraska or gives us any credit. The only publicity we got was a weeks worth of everyone saying they shouldn't send their kids to play for Pelini and how he is hot-tempered (even though Saban spanks McElroy, and Mike Stoops is just as bad if not worse than Pelini) Top to bottom they only seem to report negatively, or discredit us whenever possible. Except for our defense........ To be honest, what is there to report positively about anything BUT our defense? When T-Mart was rolling, he was getting tons of pub. The offense was clicking and everybody was hyping us up. Lee Corso picked us pre-season to win the national championship. Now the offense is bad and the defense is good again, just like last year. I saw the Nebraska-Colorado highlights more times than I expected on SportsCenter this weekend. Quit whining. We'll get there, but we aren't there yet.
  23. Of course he's gonna say that he's trying to make it still. I'm telling you the kid didn't miss his flight. He called the coaches on Thursday night asking what time his flight was on Saturday morning. He didn't even know when it was! They told him it was at 6am and then the next time they made contact was at noon on Friday and he said he missed his flight and it was too cold. He didn't actually try to make it after that. Then why is he on campus and leaving tonight? Yup I will not be trusting that source ever again.
  24. I'll throw my random statement into the Random Question thread: How the hell was there no flag thrown when Burkhead got nailed after calling a fair catch? It obviously wasn't talked about because of the outcome of the game but that was ridiculous.
