  1. Good example. Two teams that didn't have to worry about the QB running. I'm sure he'll be benched before the Wisconsin game. Beck is a genius and Martinez has obviously been a decoy all along. No friend, I was thinking more like next year we may see a different QB. Once Brion gets one more year of learning this new system. Unless of course, Martinez is re injured with all the running he does this year. Why would we bench him before the Wiscy game? If he was going to be benched, we should have done it with some of these preseason cupcake games to get some reps for the new guy.
  2. When we get another quarterback with the athleticism of Taylor, passing or running skills, then talk about how long he will be the man for this offense. When you find the new man, please inform me That's funny, from what I hear a guy with running skills like Taylor's doesn't seem to come around too often. I mean, I think every analyst on this planet has said that his speed is even beyond Eric Crouch's, and last I knew, Eric was a pretty rare talent......something about a Heisman Trophy???? Now when we get a guy who has a strong balance of both running and passing skills instead of just being a juggernaut in one or the other, that is when this offense will be at it's best. I believe that is the meaning of dual- threat. Please any more suggestions are welcome. I enjoy teaching.

  4. The first rankings should not be issued til' week six or seven in a season. That said, all we need to worry about is winning every game we play and the ratings will take care of themselves.
  5. I would like to add, that at least Beck is willing to take those shots downfield! Whether the pass is completed or not, it makes the defense reconsider bringing their safeties up. Shawn Watson wouldn't even take a damn shot! Beck is getting this thing going. I got a feeling he has a plan at the QB position too. I don't know how long Martinez will be the man for his offense.
  6. I agree with a post above. Taylor's throwing motion is the worst I've ever seen at this level of football. His pocket presence and footwork are very bad too. What's disappointing about this is we are talking about the University of Nebraska and the best we can do is stick a running back at the QB position and tell him "run forrest, run!" Imagine the production if we had a true dual threat. I don't want to bash the kid too hard because he does do a lot for this offense. It seems he is far too much of this offense in my opinion. Mark my words, just as we found out against Texas, Texas AnM and Oklahoma this team will struggle against the more stout defenses in Conference play. Taylor will have to use his arm at some point this season to win us a ball game. I'm afraid he may not be able to come through with those 10 second ducks he lobs up. Whether he makes the correct read and makes the perfect decision, the better corners in this conference will hawk that ball right out of the air. Gonna be a fun season to watch. I liked what I saw against Washington, but we have got to get Taylor to calm down in the pocket and throw some accurate quick passes. Teams will load the box on us all year long til' we make them stop.
  7. I hope Crick doesn't play against Wyoming personally. From what I can see, I think Bo may be taking the injury excuse as a way to give our biggest force on the defensive line an extra week off. He's gonna need to be a hundred percent for the Wisconsin game. Crick made some offseason comments about not being worried about opponent's run games, he will be facing the team that writes the book on the run game. Wisconsin has the biggest offensive line out there, and they will be double teaming Crick all game long. I think the guy is gonna need the extra rest.
  8. The young man has a nose for the ball for sure. He seemed to be in the right place at the right time often, and made some of the best TFL's on the team last year. He does have a tendancy to go for the big hit instead of wrapping up a solid form tackle. Usually the big hits work out, but there were guys that did bounce off those hits. That kind of thing has to be fixed. I still think the guy belongs on the field regularly.
  9. Rodriguez may have lost his job to Choi based on performance yesterday. The offensive line, especially the run blocking, was vastly improved.
  10. Not tearing down Green, but Dennard is clearly better................is that even debatable?
  11. Sorry Andrew Green.......but, we gonna need to get Dennard back ASAP.
  12. Wow.......the offensive line has taken away a lot of my worries today. Big ups to Choi! Hell yes kid, way to work.
  13. Kenny Bell and Jamal Turner should both be on the field consistently. Right along with Brandon Kinnie and Enunwa. This is the first year I can say that I really feel good about our WR group. They are all really talented. Kinnie is struggling right now, but he has shown what he can do and I don't doubt for a second that he will get his mind right and be right back on top again.
  14. Let's hope things open up a bit more when the level of competition makes us feel like we need to do so. I certainly would hope this team has more to go to than what we've seen. This Washington game could be the first time this team is forced into doing a bit more. Of course, you could say Fresno nearly pushed us to the brink and we didn't really open a new chapter in the playbook with them. I think like you said, there is just a lot we don't know yet. I sure do love watching and learning though.
  15. It's too early to tell if our line has truly regressed. We've faced two teams that stacked eight and nine men in the box. Some of our best teams of all time had trouble against non-conference opponents who stacked the box. We aren't blowing anyone off the line, that's for sure. But we can't draw conclusions about the line yet. We have faced two teams that completely stacked the box on us. And from what I have seen thus far, I see no reason any of the remaining teams on our schedule will do any different. I guess we may never know the talent of the offensive line huh? What ever happened to the HB Screen and WR screen?
  16. Now, if Tom Brady was our QB! I'd buy stock in the fifty point win. Thank goodness I drafted Brady with my first pick this year. Talk about fantasy points.
  17. These guys will come to play for sure. They know our weakness is stopping the run. A lot of teams have exposed us over the last few years against the run. Polk is a great back. This game is going to be close. Especially if we don't have a game breaker like Abdullah gave us last week on the kick return for six. Without that play, I don't know how that Fresno game would have went. Husker fans brace yourself for a nail biter here. We win it, but I think they control the clock and the line of scrimmage all game long.
  18. I figure Polk will have a big day. I think Martinez will be right there with him as far as yards go. I just really hope Burkhead breaks this game open for us. It's time for this offensive line to give the guy a few nice big gaps to run through. I'll always root the loudest for this kid, and he is a lot better than we have made him look thus far. It's Burkhead time.
  19. I was actually going to start a thread about this same theme myself. I spend a lot of time watching some of the old days games on my vhs tapes and you sure do notice the team chemistry we used to have. You look at these games now and the guys just don't seem to be up. I think the pressure on these kids is a bit much. I think the pressure and criticism from the fan base probably get to these kids ears a lot more with all the blogs and social media outlets there are these days versus in the past. I wish these kids would put their hand down and help their damn running back up more often. These offensive lineman miss their damn blocks then walk right past the running back as he's on the ground paying for it. I've watched it repreatedly. Nobody helps T Mart up off the turf. Burkhead gets walked over by the big men around him. These kids talked all summer long about the brotherhood they've built. I call BS, I got a family of seven, five of us boys, and if my brother just took a shot and was on the turf, I guarantee you he's gonna get my helping hand everytime. I know there will be plenty of people who would say I'm looking too much into it, or building a mountain out of an ant hill, but I think this stuff means something. We need more helmets slapping, high fiving, and helping hands on this squad. Where is the leadership?

    QB?

All very good points 3rd and long. I have to agree.
  21. I guess I never realized how good Zac Taylor looked back there til' I've been stuck watching some of the recent guys we've had taking snaps at Nebraska. I always respected Zac Taylor.....one tough ass dude. Took a lot of hits, but made a lot of big plays. Heart of a champion on that kid. Hopefully Taylor Martinez starts to show some improvement and a bit more heart. He looks like he doesn't care out there and that throwing motion is just .....wow.....don't thing I've seen worse in my life honestly.
  22. Hardest worker, most deserving of respect on this team. Don't know what else to say about the dude. He is a great example of a true Husker.
