  1. It's like i said..playing time was an issue for him. I really wish he had come here and just redshirtted his first year. He has talent but he is going to be dominated his first year because he lacks the proper coaching. Either way, expect to see him playing in the lineup when NU faces Okie St this season.
  2. I am 100% with you on this one, Dallas. Gotta represent Bellevue someway! I hope Souder wins the position. The way he hits teams would fear passing to the middle of the field. We need more guys that bring to wood! Callahan and Coz need to do away with their "soft technique". If a guy is by the sideline hit him rather than trying to push him out of bounds. Too many times the last two years teams have picked up extra yards because of this. No reason to risk a 15 yard penalty for a late hit out of bounds. That's the sort of stuff you would expect Colorado players to be taught by Barnett. I would rather give up 2,3 yards here and there then start tackling guys and possibly injuring them. Coaches and players are on the sideline and someone standing on the sideline could get injured if you hit the player and he goes flying and hits someone else and knocks them down. I remember last year at one of the Big10 games (not sure which one i was watching) but an Ohio St player was tackled and he went flying out of bounds and knocked a camera man unconscious and they had to take the camera man out on a stretcher.
  3. I am possibly going to be attending the recruiting dinner which features Callahan and the rest of the coaches at the Holiday Inn. Was invited to it last year and it was a great experience just listening to the coaches talk about the team, the players...but you also had 1 or 2 morons who when given the mic decided to be smartasses and bring up old issues that have nothing to do with Callahan. I think this year they are going to have people write down their question on a piece of paper and then they will read them off to the coaches to answer. It's a great experience, and if you have never been to one, i suggest you check it out. It's only 50 dollars for cocktails, dinner and a chance to hear about all the recruits, see film on them and ask questions
  4. cause it's fun to make fun of children
  5. Just thought you might be interested in reading this article Cosgrove's salary ranks 5th in Big 12 LINCOLN - The Minnesota Vikings were offering Kevin Cosgrove money Nebraska couldn't match, but Athletic Director Steve Pederson said the Big 12 school is paying "fair" and "competitively" for the defensive coordinator and offensive coordinator Jay Norvell. Cosgrove and Norvell are making $206,000 in the second year of contracts that expire at the end of this month. "Certainly we'll do whatever we can financially for people," Pederson said. "After that, we hope we're creating a good environment to where they feel good about being here and feel that their professional growth can be good here." Cosgrove was being offered $350,000 annually to become the Vikings' linebackers coach, a person close to the situation told The World-Herald. Cosgrove has decided to stay at Nebraska, where he's headed into his third season. In comparing Big 12 schools, Cosgrove's salary ranks fifth among defensive coordinators for schools' fiscal years that included the 2005 season. Those making more were Gene Chizik at Texas ($295,000), Carl Torbush at Texas A&M ($275,000), Brent Venables at Oklahoma ($255,000) and Lyle Setencich at Texas Tech ($207,000) - although Torbush was fired after the season. Kansas State reportedly offered Ruffin McNeill and Marvin Sanders three-year contracts for $225,000 annually last month, but neither took the job. The salary for Raheem Morris, 29, is not known. The highest salary for a Division I-A assistant is believed to be the $333,000 that Arkansas defensive coordinator Reggie Herring makes annually. The Houston Chronicle reported last month that Gary Gibbs wanted more than that to replace Torbush at Texas A&M, which eventually hired Gary Darnell. "Texas and Oklahoma have played for the national championship, and I'm sure that's driven their salaries up to a large extent," Pederson said. "There's a tendency to try to compare one institution to another, and all institutions are going to be different with what they bring to the table and what they're able to do." Cosgrove, 50, just completed his 11th year as an NCAA Division I-A coordinator. He made $146,303 in his last year at Wisconsin before starting at $200,000 at Nebraska. "When we hired this coaching staff, we paid competitively to get good people, and we'll continue to do that," Pederson said. "Now if it comes down to competing with the NFL, that's going to be pretty difficult for any college program." Pederson also said the Huskers try to keep football staff salaries balanced. Outside of Cosgrove and Norvell, NU's other seven assistant coaches in 2005 were making between $124,000 and $160,000. Omaha World Herald I also think USC's and Ohio St's DC are in the top3 or around it
  6. I am not sure Gibson was on scholarship. I will have to check.
  7. The judge will order this guy to go into psychiatric care cause he's definetly lost it
  8. Callahan reported in the press conference that Dyches is leaving the team to go to Northern Colorado, according to the Lincoln Journal Star blog
  9. On another note, Coach Callahan said Tyrell Spain and Victory Haines were in, so Spain will be suiting up for Spring practice
  10. Kid still has time to fix the problem. He's not lost for the season.
  11. 1995 Huskers second to 2005 Texas? NU would have beat them. Not by a huge margin, but it would have been close. Oh..and Nebraska95 just scored again..
  12. Elmo will never be a head coach. He bounces around to much from school to school. Honestly, i don't see him here in a year or so. I think he leaves for a DC job at some lower level school like Akron or Louisnana Tech or something. Coz will be a head coach in a couple of years if NU continues to improve and build momentum. Cherish the time we have with him because the next DC might not be as good
  13. More then you post before you think quality of competition? You mean like Iowa St which was co-north division champ last year and has been 1 game away from playing in 2 consecutive Big12 title games? Remind me again how many times ISU actually was that close to playing in the Big12 title game under Solich. Did you mean like OU which has been to 2 of the last 3 National title games? Like KSU who won the Big12 title in 2003? Like Kansas who has made a bowl game 2 of the last 3 years? Like Texas Tech who actually beat Oklahoma and played it to the wire with a highly ranked Alabama team in the bowl game. If you actually think the quality of competition in the Big12 hasn't gotton better since Solich left, you seriously are dillusional and don't even watch college football. Texas needed a phanton pass interference call to beat Texas last year. Let me repeat that..TEXAS the ALL MIGHTY needed a phantom call to beat KANSAS. Not Oklahoma or USC, or LSU, BUT Kansas. Kansas and Iowa St aren't the same teams that your daddy's Huskers use to blow out 63-7. 54-2, 70-0 anymore on a consistant basis. They actually have a (gulp) offense. Similiar in terms of competition You are such a manipulator and you lack reading skills. Read what i said. Utah State 3-9 (Not Bowl Eligible) Penn State 3-9 (Not Bowl Eligible) Texas A&M 4-8 (Not bowl Eligible) Iowa State 2-10 (Not Bowl Eligible) Colorado 5-6 (Not bowl Eligible) Troy State 6-6<----DID NOT MAKE A BOWL I will let you do the math how many teams that is. You sure about that? Go ask any recruit if a 6-6 season without a bowl game at the end of the season is a losing season or not. Bowl games are a REWARD for teams with WINNING records. You can sit there and twist it anyway you want, but if the NCAA says its a losing season because you finished 5-6 against DIV-A teams, then it's a losing season and that's why they were not given a bowl. I wonder if Solich uses that technique to recruit at Ohio "Oh hey, we could go 6-6 and not end up in a bowl, it's not a losing season, so what do you say..are you ready to sign with Ohio and give us your LOI" Again..7 wins against teams with losing seasons. Period One thing you failed to mention (well it's more then 1 but i am being kind to you). All 3 of those were ON the road, in a offense still being born, that had no legs and wasn't even crawling yet, with someone elses players which includes an inexperienced and first year QB starter, and one of which was the 2003 Big12 champ, the other against a team that played in the national title game that year versus an offense that had been established for over 2, 3 decades. It's one thing to get blown out, it's another to get blown out at home and your fans leave in the middle of the third quarter. How many fans have left a HUSKER GAME in the middle of the third quarter again under Callahan at home? Help me out with that, i am sure you have it memorized. Although my reference was for 2002 and Solich being 1 loss away from not being bowl eligible like Callahan who was 1 win away from being bowl eligible last year, it shouldn't have been there, that's my bad, so i will give you that. I won't deny i am human and like any human make mistakes. I think the reason i typed it in was because i knew you were going to counter with the troy st thing (what a suprise) and you did. Could care less if anyone questions my credibility or not. I am not here to win a popularity award, i am here to discuss football in a professional manner. At the end of the day, when i shut my PC off and go to sleep, i don't sit there and think "oh god, Formerfan doesn't think i have credibility, what shall i do about that". What matters though is that everyone laughs at you and your negativitiy. THAT is something you can't deny and keeps you up all night twisting and turning trying to figure out new ways to piss people off
  14. Collin Cowherd (sp?) said on the radio today that USC plays no one next year out of conference. He then goes on to say that he did not have USC's schedule infront of him so he didn't know who USC was playing other then ND which they play at the end of the season, so USC would be ready for them and predicted they would be back in the national title game. I guess he should have looked at the schedule to see USC has Arkansas, Nebraska and Notre Dame on the schedule. Ignorant statement to make on the air without checking the schedule. Kinda suprised because it was just last week he said NU was a year away from being back in a national title game or at least challanging for 1
  15. He said could..not would. And that's not unusual. A few people like hootin and myself specifically said he had NU trailing Penn St and Ohio St. Recruiting changes on the drop of the dime. Will Henry has us leading everyone else right now and could change his mind tommarow and commit to UTEP. I was the only person who said publicly A.J would be a husker commit and he didn't turn out to be one because at the time he had a strong bond with the coaches and had visited us 3 or 4 times usually indicating a favorite. Look what Freeman did and he was an NU commit.
  16. http://www.kstatesports.com/SportSelect.db...=222&SPSID=3226 They start play on the 17th of Feb against Oral Roberts. Could have swore it was Kansas State. I know everyone else has a baseball team except Colorado and Iowa St (well up untill 2001 or 2002 then it was discontinued). I guess it was Colorado i was thinking of then that stopped playing baseball back then. Unless it was softball that Kansas St discontinued that i read about.
  17. Thanks Willie for the information. I was just giving out the information that i knew. I heard he had torn something in his leg but wasn't sure what waas torn.
  18. As far as i know from KSU fans who were bragging about him being in purple during the basketball game yesterday, so i figure it was against NU since we played them yesterday
  19. Lee was visiting regardless. Also Lee doesn't graduate untill May and won't be here untill June, so it wouldn't give Lee anymore of an advantage over Seth. Seth is a young stud, so i am sure he will heal a little faster but the reports about his leg range from a torn ACL, to a torn meniscus.
  20. I think of one the reasons WVU isn't one of his top2 is because of the style of defense they play. Davis likes more man to man coverage then Zone defense and WVU plays more zone then man to man unless they are in the Nickle formation
  21. Seth Jensen suffered a serious injury to his leg which will require surgery. He is going to be out for 6-7 months doing rehab on it. Talk about a major blow. That has to suck
  22. or in baseball we would kill them...but they don't have a wrestling or baseball team so thats out of the picture... If people think the football team was bad before Snyder came, that's nothing to compared to how bad the baseball team was. There's a reason KSU discontinued it. I think KSU last played baseball in the late 70's, early 80's
  23. Oh the Irony..even our basketball team beat them while he was there. That's 2-0 for Nebraska over Kansas St while Josh Freeman was in attendance. First in Football, now in basketball. What's next..wrestling
