  1. Two teams is not a playoff, its a bowl, I dont care what drivel Bill Hancock spewed out as "fact". Two teams, in an artificially created championship game, is a playoff. I have never read anything by Bill Hancock, so I know not of which you speak. Bowl games have tie-ins, such as the Rose Bowl being B1G and PAC #, a playoff is seeded teams playing for a title. The BCS is #1 vs #2. Seeded. It's simple logic. If you can't follow that, then perhaps I'm not the one spewing drivel.... Bill Hancock is not a writer, he is the head of the BCS Name me one playoff in existence besides the BCS that has less than 4 teams. 2 teams is a game, one game. Playoff is a series of games. All seeding is generated somehow but "seeding" two teams isnt really seeding, its ranking. The BCS takes the two top schools and puts them in a game. By what definition is that a playoff. I told you I didn't know who that was. Sorry I don't pay attention to who the personalities are on either side. I tend to look at things and break them down the way a person capable of intelligent thought does, rather than listen to ESPN pound "playoff, playoff, playoff" into my brain and then come and spew it to Huskerboard as fact. According to Webster's Dictionary: Can be either a game or a series of games. So.....your move I guess. Any playoff has an arbitrary number of teams. You can't just say there isn't a playoff because you don't like the results of it. College football is trying to preserve some of the tradition that makes it what it is. Unfortunately for the rest of us, pedestrian fans, such as yourself, cry out for playoffs and other change that will ruin the sport. Also, further disproving your point, baseball does have one game playoffs. Two teams play one game for the wildcard spot. There is also a one game playoff if two teams are tied for their division at the end of the season. Two teams, one game for the championship? Impossible. 1995 Redux says it can't be. Here's the thing though, college football already has several two team playoffs: ACC Championship? Two team playoff. B1G championship? Two team playoff. C-USA Championship? Two team playoff. MAC Championship? Two team playoff. Mountain West Championship? Two team playoff. PAC-12 Championship? Two team playoff. SEC championship? Two team playoff. SO, tell me Redux, when do we launch our campaign for conference tournaments? Team #3 in each conference must be pissed. They deserve their shot, don't they? Especially if the best two teams are in one division and they didn't get picked because of a...TIE BREAKER (dramatic music). That's more flawed than the BCS isn't it? Take a second and think on that.

I have to provide citations for breaking down a process logically? It doesn't matter how many people say it, it's fact. There is a playoff RIGHT NOW. All that 2014 changes is doubling the size of the playoff. Want proof? 4 team playoff bracket...how many rounds are there? 2 right? Four teams play to get to two teams, two teams play for champion. Unless you're saying that the teams would play one playoff game and one bowl game? That's really your only argument here without conceding that I'm right.

  4. People realize there's already a playoff, right? It's two teams that play-off for the championship. Can't wait til 2020 when we get to fill out our NCAA Football 64 team bracket picks and just say f#*k it and pay players.
  5. http://athlonsports....all-top-25-2014 Nebraska: NR, again Um... Nebraska has received plenty of respect the last few years, and promptly blown it. You are correct, sir. Nebraska has been given the benefit of the doubt by ESPN and others for Pelini's tenure. Each season is the season that Nebraska returns to prominence. But each year we drift to the bottom or out of the rankings, based on actual performance. Prognosticators have every reason to feel burned by Nebraska. I think it's probably good for this team to start the season unranked and disrespected. Bo hasn't exactly thrived under pressure, but he's good at getting the team to feel a chip on its shoulder. The reason we are on the Most Overrated List is because a lot of voters simply vote college football's name brands instead of doing their homework. Yet more evidence of the media's pro-Nebraska bias. (Did I just blow your mind? ) The bottom of the rankings is just a revolving door. Parity has made 11-25 nearly meaningless. Also, rankings don't legitimately rank teams, they are a points system. The number one team loses a fluke? They drop to 8 or 9. Are they still the best team? Probably, but they get punished. It's not a real ranking system.
  6. The kick out of bounds sucked, it was Asante who got called for a horse-collar tackle, even though he didn't pull the player down by it and I believe Gomes made the tackle, and the clock stops when referees signal it to stop. A second runs off on just about every play. Take your nonsense elsewhere and don't act like we're the delusional ones for seeing what's in front of us. If you couldn't see the fix being on, then I envy your naivety.
  7. is aaron murray coming back for an unprecedented 5th year of eligibility and no one except espn knows about about it? Unprecedented? Ask Case Keenum.
  8. I think TA showed a lot of improvement as a runner. If nothing else, he looked healthier and faster in the bowl game. If he looked noticeably faster on the Gator Bowl swamp turf then imagine him fully healthy next year on nice, predictable, not swamp, field turf at Memorial Stadium.
  9. Wouldn't surprise me. They have to protect the rep somehow. The only evenly matched game the SEC won this bowl season was Mizzou over Okie Lite. But Rice and Houston are so good You're right. My bad. I'll have my people type up a formal apology.
  10. I bet Manziel was pumped about the Auburn guy's celebration after the touchdown. How was that not a flag? He stopped just short of grabbing a stack of cash and throwing it at the cheerleaders.
  11. That would have been ESPN2 with Tebow, Manziel and whoever the f#*k wanted to walk into the booth tonight. When I saw that I said that must be the ESPN "Angel and Devil on your Shoulder" version.

  13. Film room? ESPNews was the film room with Kevin Summlin, Boston College's coach, coach from Pitt, Matt Millan, Chris Spielman, and the main anchor for ESPNU. Really was pretty good. They rewound almost every play instantly and had constant game feedback form the coaches. Even Millan was mostly good, remarkably. They were all going nuts with what FSU should do on their last play. Seemed like they were actually rooting for FSU, but I think they just like the good ball that was being played. Should have watched that. I sorta glazed over it because I was like "F you ESPN and your self-pimping 'multi-cast'" I thought it was a Pimp My Ride deal. "Yo dawg, I heard you liked ESPNs, so we put ESPN in your ESPN so you can ESPN while you ESPN"
  14. Hearing Mushmouth and Salsa Boy try to spin this was hilarious. "Still one of the best seasons for the SEC...by the way watch our SEC network that we dumped huge amounts of money into..." Paraphrasing...barely. FSU played like garbage that whole game. Bad angles, worse tackling, dropped passes, random fumble, and some Beck-esque headscratcher playcalls, and they still won. I can't wait for the SEC circle jerk bandwagon to spin this into "FSU got lucky". Couple things....FIRST: The game was the game. It happened. FSU won. Luck or not, you bring back zero crystal footballs to Auburn and FSU brings back a crystal football to Tallahassee. SECOND: If FSU hadn't spent their whole bowl preparation playing NCAA14 on Xbox, you would've been blown out. Pressure, lack of preparation, or whatever, that was the worst FSU has looked all year and very little of their ineptitude was caused by Auburn. I hate to be the fan that gets joy from watching a specific team lose (other than whoever the Huskers are playing), but the SEC and ESPeNis make it so easy. You go Florida State and none for Gus Malzahn.
  15. I don't know if you coined "ESPeNis" or not (if so congrats to you!)...but it's the first time I've seen it...and now that I've seen it...I'm surprised it took so long. Hehe, I did, I did. A few weeks back it just came to me while posting here on HB. Not that it will catch on or anything but since their love affair with the SEC began, they have looked to be the pivot person at a circle jerk.
  16. Musta had the mute button on.
  17. Kenny Bell guided Q to the endzone again. A touchdown isn't the same without Kenny Bell pointing the way to the endzone.
  18. He runs the ball, too. Just sayin. Dude runs the crap out of the option and that's something that some teams, even good ones, don't know what to do with. Although if Tim Beck strikes again on Saturday, TA will put the ball up 53 times and we'll get blown out 3-0.
  19. They give up points. Coincidentally, points are how football games are decided.
  20. Manhandling a sweet 16 school from a season ago. Good ball movement so far. Defense looks solid as well. A few open shots that better shooting teams will cash in on against NU but not much to complain about to this point.
  21. Football has changed and that type of play can't work any more. Where have you been? Right? No way that works anymore. Gotta go spread.
