  1. Not sure if anyone agrees with me, but I'd credit Beck with finding the type of offense that works best for Martinez. Aside from a zone read that eventually got shut down last year, Watson wasn't able to do a whole lot with Martinez IMO. Part of this is Martinez' maturity I realize, but I think a big part of it is designing an offense calling plays tailored to Taylor and all the talent we have. Kudos to Beck so far.
  2. It's almost go time. Let's get some Over/Under going. Over/Under: Husker rushing yards 200.5
  3. O/U tackles by David - 12.5 Under Over/Under Minnesota Rushing Yards - 160
  4. I don't have a problem at all with the media doing their job at all. My point is that no one knows what's going one until things are actually confirmed and it's tiresome answering questions that hold no wait at all. I'm not asking the media to stop asking conference realignment questions, just wait until we know what's actually taking place. What's the point of asking Saban "what do you think about playing Missouri?"...when in reality he has no idea if he will ever play against them. I am on an email chain with a bunch of Kansas, KState, and Nebraska friends and conference realignment SPECULATION dominates the conversation daily. I am just tired of all the "I hear this school is going to this conference or this conference says they are expanding to 16 teams." Not a big deal at all. Maybe I'm just whining....but that's what you do on message boards, right? Ha! I agree with you. My point is that instead of getting frustrated about it, just put on your happy hat and say "I'm not going to be answering any questions about conference realignment at this time." Boom, settled, done. If I were in Saban's shoes, I'd probably be thinking the exact same thing - what do I care? I've got enough to worry about other than what team might be added to the conference next year or in future years. Right on! That's all I want to see from these coaches too. There's a way to handle questions from the media, and this is it. Saban's use of explitives is simply unnecessary and childish.
  5. Are you talking about the red looking to dark cause of the black? Maybe "the beef" icedavis has with this is Pelini's kakis. Speaking of what Pelini is wearing, what if you encorporated some gray/charcoal into the unis? I like the black, but dark gray would look pretty sweet too. Kudos to you guys with the mad editing skills. Makes this thread more fun IMO.
  6. Agreed. Although I think SJB has more experience in the secondary than we give him credit for. If memory serves, he was a safety at Fort Scott CC, and had something like 6 picks and 2 defensive TDs. He might get burned every once in awhile, but methinks he's gonna be a great playmaker for us.
  7. Whether Saban likes it or not, the conference re-alignment discussion is here to stay, especially this year. I don't care that he's won 2 national titles. Why the heck should that deter any reporter from asking him about arguably the biggest issue in college football? Saban gets paid upwards of $4 million per year. I think the least he can do is answer some questions about something that undoubtedly will impact his football schedule. I'd say this to Bo, so I'll say this Saban - Get off your high horse and answer some questions!
  8. Over/Under Burkhead with 3 Touchdowns Under Over/Under Burkhead 120.5 rushing yards
  9. That would be the away version I made. Here is one of the home versions. Let's see the red jersey with the black pants.
  10. Where is Courtney Osborne these days? I just checked Huskers.com, and apparently he's played in only 4 of our 6 games (1 start) for a total of 6 tackles. Dude was all over the highlight reels last year, so why aren't we seeing that this year?
  11. Over/Under Sacks on Martinez - 3.5 Under Over/Under Martinez rushing TDs - 2.5
  12. Over/Under: Combined INTs thrown by both teams - 3.5 UNDER Over/Under: Martinez fumbles - 1.5
  13. Let's see em! Over/Under: Husker rushing yards - 250
  14. I agree the helmet should remain just the way it is. However, I wouldn't mind seeing the uni's changed up once in awhile for big games. I like what Stanford does. They don't change their helmets at all, but they do pull out all black unis once or twice a year.
  15. I agree here. It's amazing how seldom we see a play where we have multiple (more than two or three) players swarming to the ball. I agree with most of what's been said, we have to attack more on D. Last year we could sit back and wait because of our stellar secondary, evenutally, someone would get to the QB, but now, with that amount of time, most D1 QB's are going to complete those throws to open receivers (thank you Bauserman for not being one of those). The problem I see is that when we do bring extra pressure we delay it and start so far back from the line of scrimmage that our guys aren't getting there in time. Plus when Fischer and Compton blitz, they just don't seem fast enough to get there at any time. I really believe we need to bring the pressure immediately, and and our ends have to try to contain the pocket to keep that QB is position where we can make a play on him. Forgot to mention this - but does it bother anyone else that Fisher has absolutely no ability when it comes to tackling? The only time he can take someone down like a big boy all by himself is when they've tweaked an ankle before getting to him. Otherwise he just slips right off and gets a healthy dose of cleats and dust as the runner makes his way up field. Of course this is most unfortunate since Fisher is often times the lone LB in position to make a tackle (I'd say approx 10-12 times per game). He'd probably rank up there with David as one of the team's leading tacklers IF he had the strength to actually take opponents down. When you're an LB, you gotta have brute to go with the brains.
  16. I voted once per year as well. And I'd prefer throwbacks like what we saw in the 300th sellout game. I'd like to see all whites too (even though we don't have the best track record with those). There's just something about that nice clean look. Snazzy!
  17. I just added that option to the poll. I'm thinking quite a few folks might agree with you.
  18. I'm sure many of you read this Tom Shatel article in yesterday's OWH - http://www.omaha.com...-with-tradition. And I know we've had more than our fair share of threads on HB about potentially wearing unique alternate unis. But, I'd like to do a simple poll to get a pulse of what jerseys we want to see from our beloved Huskers.
  19. One could argue our jucos are making a more meaningful impact than Pelini's recruits. Of course I wouldn't want to be the one to bark up that tree
  20. Our D will sputter against this big, mobile QB. Sure, we'll win by a few scores, but that will be because of our offense (MN D doesn't have what it takes to slow us down). Unless we miraculously figure out how to break down ball handlers and make tackles, we're just going to continue to have trouble with any dual threat QB we face. Any time a defense faces a mobile QB, the game breaks down to the one defender assigned to take down the QB. Unless that defender is David, it ain't gonna happen for us. Fisher has proven over and over and over again that he's incapable of tackling guys his size or bigger - they just run right through him like he's nothing. Compton is a bit better tackler, but he's prone to get his ankles broken by a QB's shiftiness (that goes for any of our Dlinemen too). I'm not worried that we'll lose to MN b/c we won't. But, our D will spend a lot more time on the field than we'd like to see. I don't care who you are, you don't come out of a bye week able to do things you didn't do before the break. We've all seen what kind of D this is, and I for one don't see any reason to think we'll be any better (yes, even with the Pelinis at the helm).
