  1. Not much being reported on Houston. He's been quiet. His teammates from IMG were polled on where they think he will end up a a majority said FSU. The other school mentioned, but less frequently was Nebraska. I think we are in his top two right now, but a lot will depend on if we can get him back up for an OV, and how our season goes. If we win 8-9 games and don't get blown out by Ohio State or Wisconsin, then we have a shot with him. If we lose to our ranked opponents and get embarrassed by Ohio State then I don't think we have as much of a shot with him.
  2. We are going to prep for them for two weeks. They don't have much they can prep on us because we have no film out there of our defense they can study and our offense will pretty much look like a new offense with Tanner Lee's skill set vs Tommy's. Where we should see a big advantage over AKST is our depth and strength. We should pull away in a big way towards the end of the game. They won't have the depth of strength to stick with our big guys all 4 quarters.
  3. I think he is doing a pretty good job listening and trying to address fans concerns. The fact that he took several thousand seats out of Memorial Stadium so that fans could have more seat width was not something he did for revenue. He did it to help the fans feel appreciated and heard. Same thing with the wrap around video boards. He seems to be wise in his financial approach, not blowing money on crazy things like doubling the size of the videoboard in north stadium to keep up with the Jonses as many people would like. I love that he's addressing all athletics and giving some of the non revenue earning sports upgrades and love. Some AD's would just pour all the money back into football and basketball. He could be building a players center with a lazy river and mini golf like Clemson. But he's looking at a pool for the swimmers, and a gymnasium for the gymnasts.
  4. Next could be Tutt, Carson, or the WR OVing for the AkSt game.
  5. He has visited Penn State multiple times, Ohio State multiple times, Alabama, Rutgers, Michigan State, Michigan, West Virginia, and Nebraska and of all those visits he says Nebraska was his favorite due to the fans that chanted his name at FNL and the amazing facilities. Guys we are seriously in this with him. Ohio State and Miami are our biggest competition right now!
  6. Wonder if it has scared his parents off to see these recent kids getting caught with marijuana. You'd have to think it might deter some good kids.
  7. Here's the question - has he already filmed the commitment video? And if he has, when did he film it?Rumor was it'd be filmed soon. However most times they record all the options in case of a changed mind. He's putting his video together next week, to be shown on the 18th.
  8. We pass on Shough - Michigan gobbles him up, he kills it at elite 11, all these new teams want him. We put all efforts into getting Gunnell in 2019, everyone is pretty high on him going to Nebraska. He stays home, commits with his good friend to A&M and we end up chasing after a guy in Iowa who is a Norte Dame fan and really wants an offer from them.
  9. Did anyone see on twitter that LSU's 5* cornerback who I believe would be a sophomore this year has announced he is transferring? His name is Savion. Both bookie and Joshua moore liked it. He had gone to IMG before he signed with LSU.
  10. My prediction is Bleich when we comes back this summer and Moore on June 18th. I think by the 3rd week of June those two will be on board. Eric Fuller will drop off which will leave us as 12 commits.
  11. I'd welcome OU. Texas has been nothing but trouble everywhere they have been. They are arrogant, think they deserve the best, and have always been greedy with resources in their conferences. Their fans are all or nothing. When they win the fans come out in droves, Texas gear everywhere, trash talking other teams. When they lose all the gear goes in the closets and they struggle to sell tickets at games. Would they fit the big 10 academically? Yes. Would they help bring in money and a new TV market, yes. Would they fit in the conference? Yes. But everyone would hate them about as much as everyone hates Ohio State.
  12. Taylor is a senior is he not?Correct but he is a 5th year senior, so he very realistically could have finished his bachelors already or possibly this summer and transfer for grad school.Seniors leaving don't open up schollies for next year though. True.
  13. I thought Mario Goodrich stated we were done at CB and just needed a safety now? As of now we have 14 at the DB position on scholarship with 4 graduating after this year. I don't see the need to take 5 DB's in this class with how much talent we have coming up in our underclassmen. Lamar Jackson, Eric Lee, Avery Anderson, Tony Butler, Marquel Dismuke, JoJo Domann, DiCaprio Bootle and Elijah Blades makes 8 underclassmen. If we sign 4 we will have 12 players Juniors or younger. 9 of them will be 4* or higher. Where we need the extra bodies is OT, NG, and WR. At WR we only have 8 on scholarship. We need to sign 4-5 in this class to make some of that up. This position should have 10-11. We play 3 WR sets and struggle with soft tissue injuries. The misses on Desmond Fitzpatrick, Joseph Lewis, and Jamire Calvin at the last minute really hurt our numbers along with the transfer of Derrion Grimm. At OT we are struggling with depth. We have 6 OT's on the roster this fall (Knevel, Gates, Gaylord, Farniok, Jamies, Walker) Christian Gaylord isn't ready and may end up being a miss. If Gates or Knevel go down there is Farniok, but who else can play tackle? Conrad could, but that's not his best spot and he doesn't have the feet for LT. The staff has a lot of hope in Jamies but he's 30lbs too light to play as a TFR. Sichterman may end up being a guard and Walker needs weight as well. After this year we lose Knevel... if Gaylord ends up being a miss. We need to take 2 OT's in this class. At NG Damion Daniels is the only true one we really will have on the roster. Stoltenberg can do it but is not ideal size for the position. He might be better outside if we could let him lose there. Same with K davis. I could see Watts developing into a NT. But why not take a huge interior guy with a nasty bull rush like Calvin Avery? Mapieu is a development project and won't be ready from a technique and hand use standpoint for at least a couple of years. I really think we should prioritize a 2nd NT in this class over a 5th DB.
  14. Taylor is a senior is he not?Correct but he is a 5th year senior, so he very realistically could have finished his bachelors already or possibly this summer and transfer for grad school.
  15. I think we will end up taking 18. We currently have 15 open spots for 2018, but what if one of our 2017 doesn't academically qualify? What if a guy like Adam Taylor decides to move on after summer school and pursue a grad degree somewhere else? Or they could choose to give the 2 extra scholarships we didn't use in the 2017 class to a senior walk on so they could go to the 2018 class.
  16. Any NFL player will tell you the first year a whole college team transitions to a new defense it is always rough. You see a huge jump from year 1 to year 2. I met Michael Booker (1st round NFL draft pick in 1997, who played in the league 5 years) and Dejuan Groce a former all American at Nebraska who played 5 years in the NFL at an event two years ago. We discussed Nebraska's defense at length and they predicted Banker would struggle based on the personnel he had and the way he liked to run his defense. They were right. They told me recently that even though Diaco might be a great coach, to not expect our defense to be great this year. They said year one in a new defense that is multiple is always a big transition with a lot of mental errors. Plus we need to develop depth at a few positions we still really lack depth. Look for a big jump in 2018 as we add more pieces and have an extra year of knowledge in the system.
  17. We really just have 2 guys (watts and blades) who are academic risks. Watts needs a better SAT score. Blades needs solid grades this semester and is awaiting finals on those.
  18. Exactly. He has 4 classes he has to make good grades in. He finds out in early June if he got good enough grades or if he will need to stay and take some summer school before reporting.
  19. He enjoyed his visit. Liked the overall support at our school. Didn't say much else. I wonder if he is a plan B guy and we are letting him know there's a couple guys in front of him
  20. We want him as an offensive lineman. It would be a tough pull... he has a lot of options at DT and was a standout performer at that position in STL this weekend.
  21. IF we take a RB this year, they will only take a really good one. Their top 3 are TJ Pledger (trying to pull him from OU), Sallahudin, and Keontae Ingram. If they don't get one of those high caliber players they will not take a RB in this class.
  22. Some former NFL evaluator guy was there at the Rivals camp this weekend. Not sure if he was a former coach, scout, or what, but he was asked if Jurgens was a TE or a LB and he said he's a TE with a ton of upside and athleticism through the roof.
  23. With all due respect there's no way Marlow is our #1 guy on the board at RB. He is underimpressive. Sam is often wrong about this stuff so I raise my eyebrow when he says that. Really think he's off on that one. If we had Marlow as "A" he would already be in. He wanted in at the spring game and we have slow played him.
  24. Looking more and more like he's solid to the Aggies.
  25. Ronnie Perkins is being looked at for DE not OLB. Top DE's on the board are - Judge Culpepper, Daniel Carson, Elijah Wade, Ronnie Perkins. Top OLB's on the board are - Micah Parsons, David Alston, Jalen Redmond, Bo Calvert. Top RB's on the board are TJ Pledger (they are still hard after him despite OU commitment) Keaontay Ingram and Michale Salahuddin.
