  1. Major had to leave NU for some undisclosed reasons. He transfered to ACU, a powerhoues DII program in Texas and has thrived as a safety here. I talked to him the other day at school and he said that he was doing much better here, but gushed about Nebraska's program. He loved it there. And I feel under Pelini's system he could have shined. Too bad he was there with Callahan. He said that he has a shot at the NFL... scouts have been contacting him. He is the second safety to transfer from Nebraska to ACU... Daniel Manning was another who is now a started for the Chicago Bears.
  2. Okay so I'm about to pull this out out of a hat...Tony Romo. Why Tony Romo? Well last year Nebraska struggled offensively... the running game stunk... the passing game stunk. I believe this is due to O-Line play. If you watch the run blocking from the 90's NU's running backs had huge holes to run through and good down field blocking. There was NONE of that this year... when holes opened up they were tiny creases that running backs had to twist and turn to get through... only to be met by hungry linebackers waiting for them on the other side. And what about the passing game? If you time Zac Lee and look at the Left tackle (blindside) play through all the game footage... he had 2 seconds on most plays to get rid of the ball. That gave him time to look for 2 receivers on short routes and hopefully hit one. We know he struggled with throwing on the run and scrambling out of the pocket, but the O-Line rarely gave him time to check all his receivers, set up for long passes, or scramble up the middle through a hole because there were none. I saw the same problem with ROMO in last week's cowboys/vikings game. We know Romo has his up and down games... we know he has been known to be an inconsistent quarterback... but we can all agree that his O-Line didn't give him much help last Sunday against Minnesota. I firmly believe that if you have an average quarterback and a SOLID, AMAZING O-Line... that the quarterback will look good. Hince why so many "superb" college quarterbacks get drafted in a high round to a sucky NFL team and then suck it up themselves. Could Zac Lee be a stellar QB who played a season with a torn ligament behind a horrendous offensive line? Could that be why his parents looked so mad everytime the camera showed them in the stands at his games? Yes Zac has some things to work on... he needs to make decisions quicker, he needs to throw stronger on the run, he needs to be able to get out of the pocket quicker and downfield faster when he decides to run it himself... but I feel like he might be a lot better than we all think. When you ask NU players who the best quarterback is, hands down they all say Zac. Helu praises him. So do the receivers. Yet you never hear a peep about the O-Line. Cotton was quiet last season... the first recruits that NU went after were 2010 and 2011 O-Linemen... and the first to committ were 2010 and 2011 offensive linemen... they heard a desperate cry for help and answered. Just my thoughts...
  3. I don't feel like our offense can get any worse next year. We were just about at the bottom of the rankings this past year and nearly went 13-1 despite. If our defense is 5 times better like Bo said it will be, heck, if our defense is equal to what it was last year, even a little worse, and our offense improves from the nationally ranked 100's to the nationally ranked 70's, we will have 0 or 1 loss and be a top 5 team. O-Line Returning Experience O-Line New Prospects Marcel Jones Brent Qvale D.J. Jones Jeremiah Sirles Keith Williams Jesse Coffey Mike Smith Nick Ash (went up against Suh and improved drastically coaches say) Ricky Henry Andrew Rodriguez Mike Caputo Mike Moudy Jermarcus Hardrick Our O-Line candidates are going to double in number... plus there's all the guys who didn't play last year that are back with one more year in the system of the new offense to compete. At QB you have Zac Lee with a healthy arm and one more year in the system. He learned a lot about scrambling and running an option this year... look for him to be much more comfortable with a multiple offense. You have Cody Green with another spring training and offseason to get stronger, faster, and more confident. You have a running based offense that appeals to his natural instincts. Kody Spano is back. Taylor Martinez has his chance to shine with a ton of potential. Latravis Washington has 1 1/2 years in the system at QB now. At RB you have Helu back healthy, Burkhead ready to steal Helu's spot, Robinson with an offseason in Dobson's program to improve his footwork, speed, and strength... not to mention an offseason and spring practice to learn the offense better. You have Heard coming in at the #8 running back in the country excited about being a husker. At WR you have Paul who will be even more explosive. You have Kinnie who came on strong at the end of the season with some awesome NFL calibur catches. Cooper will have an offseason with Dobson where he will get much stronger and put on that much needed weight. At TE you have everyone coming back. Harper will be another threat at this position. Look for multiple TE setups next season with the depth they have here. And don't even get me started on the defense. With all the experience we have returning and the young guys who are about to explode... look for another top 10 defense next year with more depth and even more confidence.
  4. Gasp... Never!!!!!!!! Although he does look a little miserable on his visit in this picture.
  5. I agree, but this story makes sense. He was taking visits because he was unsure who would be coach and which assistants were staying or leaving. From what I've hear, UT can't afford to fire any more coaches (assistant or head). Ah... But scout is also saying this... " The only uncommitted player that was holding an offer this weekend in Lincoln was Zach Fulton. Fulton, a 6-foot-5 and 300-pound offensive lineman from Flossmoor (Ill.) Homewood-Flossmoor couldn’t say one negative thing about his trip to Nebraska and that’s the best thing that Nebraska could hope for as things sort themselves out on Rocky Top."
  6. Scout also says this... scout article
  7. Other boards are reporting that Bronson Marsh committed last night... We still don't know if he will get a scholie, grey-shirt, or be a preferred walk on. Bo wants him. It just depends on how this group pans out as to how we get him.
  8. Lets just say that I am friends with the coach at my university in Abilene and have personally talked with Major Culbert (former nebraska safety) and have personally talked with a coach in town as well as parents who have kids who played with Willimas and still keep in contact with him... both were kicked out for drugs after multiple chances to change.
  9. Go Big Red!!!!

Got here by mistake- so for an update: tell my older self not to renew Bo's contract

  10. This is true... But lets look at family... If he goes to Nebraska there is a VERY high chance that he will end up being a high NFL draft pick... which means he will be able to take care of his family for the rest of his life in many ways. If he goes to Oregon... who's to say that he will ever develop into an NFL caliber player if he isn't coached into one? He also wouldn't get as much TV exposure to be noticed by the NFL. So Nebraska is a better family decision in the long run in terms of providing for his family financially etc. Just my two cents though... what do you guys think?

  12. (1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? Since I popped out of the womb, my dad a UNL alumni taught me all the referee signals by the age of 3. 2) What/who led you to The Nation? I found it through google 3) Where are you from originally? Texas 4) Where do you live now? Texas 5) Favorite Husker memory? Going to my first game with my dad as a kid. We have made it up to at least one every year since then. 6) Worst Husker memory? When we lost to Virginia Tech this year... it killed me for about a week. 7) Number of home games attended? At least 6 8) Number of away games attended? One, Baylor 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? My lil' red doll... every time I hold it during games we win. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) Memorial Stadium no doubt. 11) Favorite all time player? Eric Crouch 12) WCO or Option? Neither... neither will work. WCO is too complicated for college... it takes kids 3 years to get it down and 1-2 years to play with it. Option... the game has changed so much you can't run a strict option and win a championship.... it's not multiple enough. PPl play the run and leave the big pass wide open. They load the box and kill. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? ooh... I don't want to choose they both make me throw up. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Lil' Red all the way!!!! 15) Favorite Husker play? The michigan state play in the alamo bowl where we won in the last minute with all the laterals. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? Bottled water with a couple of runzas and i'm good to go. 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source)[/b] google.
  13. So let's think about this... Owa is between Nebraska, Oregon, and UCLA... According to what we have been hearing from the Army All Star game he was gushing about Nebraska and would have chosen Nebraska if he had to choose on that day and if it had been completely up to him. We know his family has a BIG pull on where he will attend due to the fact that he has a single mother with several younger siblings and his mother relies on him to help take care of them. We know his mom likes UCLA due to it's large Nigerian community. But UCLA is 14 hours away from Portland, where Owa is from. We know that Owa loves Nebraska so I feel like if he was going to go that far from home it would be Nebraska. Thus I feel UCLA will get knocked out next, because of the distance, the lack of year in and year out strong defenses, etc. So I believe it's between Oregon and Nebraska... lets look at those two based on what we know. We know Owa LOVES Nebraska. We know from (Rivals Weekly AMP) that at the time Owa visited Nebraska, Cal was the front runner... which would explain why he gave his visit a 9 out of 10. We know Owa LOVES Suh and highly respects him. We know Owa hasn't said much about Oregon. He liked the facilities (who wouldn't they're freakin amazing) and he liked the proximity to home. But he saw Nebraska TEAR UP Arizona in the holiday bowl... and he knows that Arizona bearly lost to Oregon and almost went to the Rose Bowl instead. So he should be able to see that the big 12 is a stronger conference. He should be able to see that the Pelini's took a defense ranked in the national 100's down to a defense that was 1st in the country in 2 years!!! He should be able to see that Bo has had defensive success everywhere he has been and has had national championship caliber defenses. His mom can always move... Omaha and Lincoln are big cities... she could find a teaching job there. Plus the cost of living is way less so she'd be coming out ahead in the long run. I think on Februrary 3rd you will see Owa with a Nebraska hat on, signing his name on a red paper. Signed, sealed, delivered... Owa's ours to lose.
  14. I'm from Abilene, TX... where Chris Williams came from. Well he's back here now, and my highly reliable sources tell me that he got kicked out of Nebraska for Drugs. The kid was extremely talented and was going to do great things for Nebraska. It's a shame that he had to mess it up.
