  1. He's a talented athlete but not sure where he fits football wise. We think we have better RB options and have some LBers sitting higher as well. Rumor is he wants to come here but we don't have him projecting as high as some others.
  2. If we just had a QB that could throw on target with easier to catch balls, a lot of our offensive problems would be fixed. The QB is most of our issue. He makes bad decisions of who to send the ball to, and when he actually makes a good decision he can't get it to them soft enough or long enough for them to make a catch without having to practically stretch fully out for it. Tommy is what's holding us back. My gosh.
  3. Why do we play so soft at DB position?! Play 10yds off and allow them to complete pass with no contest... Then run up and tackle them. Why?!?
  4. 1) Can't argue w/you there. 2) Part of that is that Wyoming is sending extra men and living/dying by the blitz, and our kids aren't picking it up. Part of that is on the coaches, part on the kids. 3) Agree 100% To go back to (2)... With all the blitzing, we've got open receivers all over the place and the screen should also be open. Again, if Tommy were a better QB he could find the dump guy when ppl are in his face. Instead he takes his eyes off the field and tries to run away. Missing open guys all over the place. I understand not having time to see downfield but he should be able to find his 5yd out dump guy. He's too slow getting rid of the ball. Like announcers are saying... Timing is off.
  5. Our problem in this game so far is three simple things. 1) Tommy makes bad decisions and has poor touch on his easy throws. He throws them too hard for running backs to have a chance to catch. This is all Tommy and not langsdorf. 2) Offensive line blocking to open holes for RB's has not been good. They have been getting beat. 3) DB's are playing 10yds off the ball in unders coverage. I HATE this philosophy. This is on Banker. They are athletic enough if they would press they would be able to be right on the receiver to get a hand on the ball. Playing 10yds off allows the WR to get open for 5-7 yard pass catches with no contest. They can move it down the field all day with this.
  6. A few things here. Public records say he has 3 prior offenses but it doesn't state what each was. We're the 2004, 2006, and 2008 incidents all dui's? What if some of those were other types of incidents and this isn't 3 or 4 for him. The fact that he was jailed and held without bond until today is an indication he will be tried as a fellon. If he is tried as a fellon ans found guilty the school can not legally keep him on staff. He will serve jail time and Mike Riley won't legally be given the option to keep him. We can sit here and say why did Mike hire him knowing he had 3 prior offenses. But to be fair, we don't know what those offenses were and we don't know what kind of help he already got. The last was in 2008... 8 years ago. That's a pretty good gap in time since he had an offense. Riley could have seen it was a long time ago, he got help, and he had no problems for close to a decade. The other thing to consider is if he has documented offenses in 2004, 2006, and. 2008 he already had 3. Why hadn't he served time already?? Why didn't his employer at the time fire him? Why did Fresno, Tulane, and Nebraska hire him? It just seems like there's more to the story. We also don't know when the 2006 offense happened. If the timeline is truly 10yrs, we are more than halfway through 2016. He could be past the 10yr mark by a few months. We will have to see what the judge says today at his court appearance at 2. That will tell us more. If it comes out that it's a felony charge and a third offense, he's done here. If it's a misdemeanor and not a third dui, or the timeframe works out, maybe the coaches let him stay with conditions attached. This was just a selfish move by coach W. It puts his guys, his coworkers, and the whole team in a bad spot with the timing, the season is so close and the team is already going through enough with the loss of Sam. Not only does it hurt recruiting momentum, but it hurts our kids. People like Stanley and Alonzo have had fathers and lots of men fail them in their lives. We have kids who need positive male role models and just when they have a father figure to look up to, he fails them. If he ends up in jail that's awful for those kids who have seen the system take so many black men away and lock them up. It shows them again they can't trust people or believe in them. It's just really really sad and unfortunate. Pray for Keith Williams and his family. Pray for those WR's and pray for Mike and Shawn to have wisdom as they weigh their options and make a tough decision.
  7. Y'all do realize Newby was playing most the season hurt don't you? He had a severely sprained ankle that limited his ability to cut, his speed, and also wore on him mentally as he played through a lot of pain. He ws also learning a brand new offense and had HUGE EXPECTATIONS on him to fill Ameer's shoes and play right after him.
  8. He wants all the Nebraska fans who live in Southern California to come to that game and he's going to make it worth their while for coming. Maybe he wears something Nebraska on the field? Maybe he commits at that game? Maybe he gets the announcer to play the fight song and welcome the fans to the game? Or maybe he's told his peers how crazy Nebraska fans are and has some bet where he's trying to prove it by getting thousands to come to his game lol.
  9. Does anyone know how much we get now and how much more we're gonna get when fully vested next year?
  10. When you're 18, these schools wine and dine you to come play for them. They each have heir angle they push. They each have some stat they throw out as to why they are better than the other options. The more schools he visits the more he is going to be confused. He will feel amazing about all the big ones the first time he sees each. I find it funny he said education is his #1 and deciding factor and now he puts auburn in his top 3. Lol. Their education isnt even on the same plannet as Ohio State. Lol
  11. Wasn't he the #7 player in the state of Virginia coming out of high school? He was either a high 3* or a 4* player. Sometimes a kid gets lost in the shadows with a system that doesn't appeal to his skill set. Don't quote me on this, but wasn't Terran Petteway just so so at Tech before he came to Nebraska? I'm not trying to say this guy could be Terran Petteway because I don't believe he will be, but you never know if a kid will bloom in a new system. He could be a 10-12 ppg player for us and a good backup to Glynn or Tai. With Bakari and Andrew leaving we needed a guard.
  12. He said his #1 deciding factor is education. Said Ohio St is ranked near the top for his major and has a lot of connections with ESPN. But he also said Nebraska has the most academic all Americans. So I need him to elaborate on "education".
  13. What if we did an away alternate this year for Wisconsin or Ohio st?
  14. This staff has checked all the boxes for me except the wins. But it wouldn't be fair of me to ask them to win last year. They took over a very upset team that had been loyal to Bo and was mad when he was let go. They came in and changed the offense and defense to something opposite of what they had before. They were trying to get guys to buy into what Pelini preached against defensively. Offensively the team was built to run with some play action pass and zone read... Riley's expertise and system is built around the pass and the Large pro style QB. Everything Riley and Banker do is opposite what Beck and Pelini did. When a team is outfitted with players for Pelini's system, you don't come in year one and win 12 games. He needs 3-4 years with his guys in his system before we can hold him to a ranked competing team. This year should be better than last, but I don't expect more than 8-9 wins.
  15. The first big jump to overcome with any kid who hasn't been to Nebraska is convincing them we have a huge stadium and we're in a good sized city. We aren't corn fields. He was on campus so he saw that. 2nd hump to overcome is showing him he would be playing with top tier talent. We did that at the camp by Him seeing the high caliber recruits interested in us. The next step is getting his parents to see our academics/family/and to have his mom meet Mike Riley. So we need to get him in for an OV. If he comes for an OV and brings parents, there's a real good chance we land him.
  16. Experts are saying UCLA is his number 1 right now. 2nd would either be Ohio State or us.
  17. Has anyone watched Leitao, Rafdal, and Otton's film back to back? List each players strengths/weaknesses and which you feel would be the best get for us.
  18. The other two schools still in it are UCLA and USC. He didn't mention them as favorites but he has not closed the door to them. To me this is a Nebraska/Arizona/Oklahoma battle. Those are the 3 he always mentions first and has been high on for a while.
  19. All I know is NFL scouts really like Tanner Lee and they really don't like Tommy Armstrong. And both have strong arms, similar pass completion percentages, and similar numbers of interceptions. There's something about Tanner the pros like. Let's see what he does with a lot of talent around him and a year sitting out to study film. Gebbia won't start as a true freshman. He's practically a walking stick man. There's no way his body could take the big 10 beating during a season until he puts some weight and strength on. If you start him as a true freshman, he'll be out with an injury by game 3 or 4. He is not physically ready for big 10 football. He needs a year of S&C and nutrition before he will be able to handle the hits of 6'6" 280lb defensive linemen who squat 600.
  20. i just don't see him being real good as a RB at the next level. He runs high. Has a high center of gravity. Seems pretty easy to tackle in his HS film. I think his physical definition and just advancement in physical development Allows him to mow over kids in hs. But at be next level I question him at the RB position. If you look at the really good ones, they have the ability to run low, move side to side, power forward, and stay balanced when someone tries to take their legs out. I'm not saying I don't want this kid. But I think you take peacock as your RB and find another spot on the field for Nathan. Besides his physical development, what are his greatest attributes? His straight line speed? His hands? His jumping ability? His lateral quickness? You have to break him down and then use his skill set to match to a position that requires a lot of that skill set.
  21. My best guess: Tommy will continue to amaze us with his great runs and will continue to frustrate us with his lack of ability to check down and see open guys. He will therefore under utilize his receivers and will struggle with correct footwork in the pocket. His improvement will be there from last season but it will be minor. Next year Tanner Lee will start with O'Brien getting mop up duties. In 2018 It will be a battle between O'Brien and Gebbia, barring injury. Whether Gebbia starts or not will largely depend on his ability to hold up with his small frame or his progress in weight gain and strength gains at that time.
  22. He did backflips... If he was so annoyed, he wouldn't have done backflips.
  23. I love that we are going after these kids who are playing the same positions their fathers played in the pros and were pro bowlers.
  24. This is the kind of guy you take and figure out where to play him later. He could play RB, LB, Safety, or WR. And he is physically ready to see the field day 1. At running back he runs kind of high and doesn't have a lot of juke ability. He's got a high center of gravity. To me he looks more like a LB than a RB but I guess the coaches see something I don't.
