I think Pelini is gone after this. An NCAA rushing record for a single game. A team that can't throw the ball...one guy with an X on his back that you had to account for and he goes for 400+? There are over a hundred FBS football programs that play roughly 13 games apiece....and yet we are the team setting records for ineptitude every season. No one doubts the talent we have on this roster, which means there is one place to point the finger. I'm not angry...I think I quit being angry about this kind of performance at some point because it's no longer a new feeling. But when the broadcasters are beside themselves with how bad the team looks and calls out the coaching staff for putting an embarrassing product on the field, things have gotten unmanageable. No, we are not a dominant program and we have not really been nationally relevant since the beginning of the century, but the fans of this program deserve something much more. People have called us an entitled fan base, and they're absolutely right. We are entitled to a competitive football program. We are entitled to being able to watch our team play in high profile games WITHOUT being unequivocally embarrassed. We are entitled to having a coaching staff that prepares our athletes to succeed on the field.

The tough reality that I'm just now willing to admit is that we go into almost every game with the knowledge that we WILL be outcoached. We just happen to be more athletic than most of the teams we play.

I think those that say our offense is fighting the same demons with more talent are spot on. The defensive line is the strongest unit on the team, IMO. I don't see any team in the nation capable of pushing them around. Punting game is definitely better and it can make a hell of a difference in a team's overall performance. So I think this team is better. Special? Not ready to go there.

I imagine if you take away turnovers committed by the quarterback, every team's turnover count would look pretty respectable.
