  1. Congrats to CU. They belong in the PAC-10.
  2. You nailed it. That Tom Osborne is a complete hothead. Rash, impulsive His searing anger and lack of experience caused him quit the Big XII in a huff. We're lucky he didn't shut down the whole football program! Wait - hold on a sec. What's that? CU just bolted for the door. Give me an extra second (get it)... Huh? The Big XII South has an exit strategy? Missouri too? What! The Big XII will no longer exists as of June 14th... Good thing Dr. Tom got pissed and did something. Wheeew. That was lucky.
  3. 1. Man, that's what folks here on this board don't seem to get. Texas doesn't care to have controlling interest of the conference. Believe it or not, the money's more important. Yes, TV is very profitable right now. But the point is to make it obscenely profitable. 2. Ames? Uh, no. But thanks for playing! It makes perfect sense if...and only if...you follow the money trail, and no other. From Nebraska's POV - Texas in the Big 10 would be just an average member. So they would be far less annoying to...Nebraska. As a player LA is the correct answer. The coaching staff and administration would be happy with Ames, etc. Besides there is still the tie-in to the Rose Bowl.
  4. Well, it just doesn't make any sense for a couple of reasons.... 1. Nebraska wants to get away from what it sees as Texas' domination of a conference. Why in the name of all that's orange (sorry!) would it accept a bid to the Big 10 KNOWING Texas was also on the way? 2. Texas and A&M both can smell that Fox TV money from the west coast. And where would you rather play...Ames Iowa or LA? Not much of a choice there! 1. Texas loses contolling interest of the conference, the HQ and the title game. There is already a profitable tv network. Plus, MU, UT and A&M are AAU schools. 2. If I'm Texas? Ames. Wouldn't bother me. Makes as much sense as anything else at this point.
  5. Elite 16. That wouldn't confuse anybody.
  6. Missouri out in the cold? 810 AM freakin'.
  7. There is the possibility still out there that Texas would want to come to the Big Ten as well (after the cookie has crumbled). As childish as this may sound, I think if there was any possibility of UT being invited to the Big 10, NU would probably respectfully decline. That's just my uneducated opinion. IMHUO - I think UT would be fine without all of his running buddies. UT would have to participate as a member instead of boss.
  8. You really believe the SEC is full? If the Big 10 expands to 14-16 teams and the Pac-10 expands to 16 teams, I guarantee you that the SEC will follow suit and expand to 16 teams as well. IMO, Texas will be just fine joining either the SEC or the Pac-10. You are right - they are not full now. I was thinking more along the lines of 10 years down the road - after they've joined the PAC-10. If they threaten to leave again or start throwing around their weight and the PAC-16 gets sick of them. Now what? The SEC will have already expanded to 16 and the SEC wouldn't want to add four Texas teams. I'm sure the SEC would always take Texas (and OU) if they become available. As long as it is just UT. Further, I'll grant you that they will be 'fine' - no matter what they do or who they piss off. But fine isn't a win.
  9. So Texas wins either way? Texas wins by losing their own network, the HQ, the title game(s), their puppet is out of a job and UT is no longer in absolute control? Plus the PAC-10 saw how they behaved in the BigXII. I betcha one or two Texas schools don't make it to the PAC-XX. Think CU will ever vote with them? Not a chance. And finally they can't threaten to leave - where would they go? SEC? Full. Big 10? Full. BigXII At least the weather is nice. Nice win.
  10. Great post. This is about the State of Nebraska, the University and finally football (there will be plenty of money for recruiting and coaches). Leveraging the AAU membership with the football program is a truly legendary. Sipple thinks it could increase the student population and even the population of the state. Another point who do you want leading Beebe? Or Delany and Osborne? So many wonderful things about this - but I'll stop and think good thoughts. GBR
  11. According to the US Census Bureau, Nebraska has grown - are you ready for this? - by 80,000 from 2001-2009. Whoop! Here's a discussion about this from another forum. They're saying we're going to lose a seat, too. LINK That is still 5%. http://www.census.go...ST-pop-chg.html Nebraska 1,796,619 1,711,265 85,354 Michigan added just 31K. Not saying Nebraska will ever catch MI or any other state in the B10. It just won't be such a mismatch. 24M vs. 1.8M. gotta love data analysis...what more can i say Yeah baby...yeah. I am also great at parties!

  13. Nebraska is growing? I thought that they were going to lose a Representative to the House? Growing relative to Michigan (0.3%), Penn, Ohio, and Iowa (2.8%). Nebraska is between 5 and 6%. The Country is around 9%. Texas is at frickin' 18%. They added the population of Nebraska...twice over. From 2000 to 2009 May or may not lose the seat. Iowa may yet take the hit instead. TBD. I know, I know fascinating subject.
  14. Correct! However, as a Husker fan this gets me excited that we are this much closer to a situation that envolves us moving away from the texas ran conference that we are currently in. and yes I just ended a sentance with a preposition, I'm that excited! I'm not so much worried about the preposition, I'm more worried that you misspelled "sentence" and "involves." But you spelled preposition right, so those were probably typos. And yes, I'm a recovering Grammar Nazi and I notice all that stuff. I've gotten help and I'm much better now. Nothin' more funer then an Grammer nasi.
  15. I am really trying to see a downside to moving to the B10...and I just don't see one. It is good for the University and the State. Football takes recruiting and coaching - both take money. Which we will get. The politics of the league will be far better. Many powerful voices vs. one superpower. There may actually be alliances that shift. Couldn't do much worse with our Big 8 'pals'. Even the demographics are in our favor as the rust belt levels out Nebraska will continue to grow.
  16. Has this been posted already? Evidence that Texas is planning to leave either way and is just playing the blame game?
  17. Here's a counter rumour: http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/6270202/22395511 We're getting close...
  18. Found this over on the tigerboard: Pretty funny.
  19. I personally like Big (X + n), its much more academic looking. Maybe I should copywrite it, especially if the conference expands is stages, as is rumored. How about the Big Tenn or Ten+n?
  20. No matter how this shakes out - I am looking forward to the book.
  21. The blog also mentions ND as the third.
  22. That is a great article. It really pulled things together. I also am really starting to wonder if Beebe is just an incompetent boob. Another way out idea - reconstitute the Big 8. Stoops doesn't sound to excited about the PAC-16.
  23. What if Beebe is just incompetent? Somebody else posted this earlier - but it is worth a repost: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news;_ylt=AtQbqAVWsA7nq0f6.9z_E.05nYcB?slug=dw-expansion060610 Get rid of him and see where things stand.
