  1. Well, that is not true. TO did NOT share these traits and he was one of the best. At least not when talking to the media. You are right, Osborne is a special person. You said yourself, one of the best (coaching & dealing with people). The same could be said for Tony Dungy and other good coaches. This is why I chose the word "generally". I nowhere compared our current coaches to Tom Osborne and I don't ever plan to. However, for every Osborne and Dungy there are two or three Parcells, Pelini's, Saban's, Harbaugh's, Les Mile's, Mike Gundy's, and the list goes on. Nebraska was BLESSED with one of the greatest coaches and great person in Osborne. No one denies that. People differ with the question, "should we hold Pelini (and staff) to the same social standards as Osborne?" I wish we had another Osborne, I truly do. But so does USC, LSU, Florida, Texas, Oregon, Alabama, and every other team in the country. But you know what, they won't find one. You know why, because there is only ONE Tom Osborne. Yes, we should hold him to the same social standards . Oh, and I didn't say anything about you comparing anyone. You said " Generally coaches, at least good coaches, share these traits." and I said that is not true. I named TO as an example of one who doesn't hold those traits. Also, you mix NFL coaches with college coaches, and you can't, different style of play, different situations with players. It has been shown good NFL coaches don't always make good college coaches.. Sorry, if this is what you expect. The next coach will also be short of your expectations, I'm willing to put money I do not have on that...Nick Saban, arguably the best coach in college football, will not be a state senator. PS....Hopefully, Bo's ailment isn't serious and we don't have to worry about it. and I'm sorry you want the NU coach to be like the others.. haha, I can play that game as well.

I'm pretty sure LSU, Bama and Oregon are just fine with who they have, not sure those teams want to wait around 22 years for results, well, other than Oregon maybe, but now that they have tasted success they are just fine with their head coach. Yeah, and they don't show the same traits Bo does when it comes to attitude. They show emotion, but they don't look like they are about to blow gasket like Bo does... Also, I don't want our coach to be like all the others, I want him to be better.

  4. What were cally's recruiting numbers when he was here?
  5. Well, that is not true. TO did NOT share these traits and he was one of the best. At least not when talking to the media.
  6. THAT is how you should prepare, but to tell guys the NC is still on the table is holding on to false hope.
  7. I'd hate for the team to adopt that attitude. And it sort of blows my mind that not only do some fans almost expect them to, they get mad when they don't say it. I don't get it. What is better, clinging to false hope, or re-evaluating your goals and setting new ones? ones you can atually obtain? What would make a team fell better about themselves, a team to fails to meet goals that were set that can never be accomplish, or goals they meet because they re-evaluated them?
  8. So he is a good coach because he is a good speaker? Um, ok. One thing is for certain, there is no way we have ANY shot at the NC, period! That is actually a good question, has any team ever come from unranked to win the NC (with at least 1 lose)? Seriously, what do you think he is going to do? His team just gave up the 2nd most yards in the history for husker football.
  9. it could be TO giving his retirement time frame..
  10. lol, omaha has one coming in. It is being built as we speak, can't wait.
  11. IMO, Bo, at this point, has only mantained the best cally could offered. He has not progressed like he should have... not saying he can't or won't, just that he hasn't to this point.
  12. Wow, what a stupid thread...no offense to the originator.
  13. Beck didn't trash Martinez, but he did try and deflect the criticism to someone else.
  14. Nu would not of fallen as far as they did with Frank as the coach instead of cally. jmo
  15. What was Ohio's records before Frank and since Frank?
  16. Erstad is not doing a very good job in his first year. He better start being able to read when a pitcher needs to be removed. He reminds me an Anderson in that regard. He also better start recruiting better pitchers ... or get a better pitching coach.
  17. *I'm* the one that emerged from under the bridge? You need to look inward, sir. You haven't posted in months after your self imposed "ban," and you pop on yesterday with a video that you claim is evidence of Obama losing the hard left when it doesn't do that at all. Further you call Chomsky a Stalinist (not the first time you've made this absolutely dumb claim) which itself is patently absurd and demonstrates that you don't even understand the words you throw around. He says *in the video that YOU linked* that he generally doesn't find much to agree upon with Sarah Palin, but this ONE little bit is it. That's what prompted my use of the "blind squirrel" idiom (directed at Palin, btw - I assume you know that and are being deliberately thick about it for trollish effect). The video simply does not make the point you seem to think it makes. In that regard, it does speak for itself, and what it says is about you. Isn't that usually how it works when you are gone for a while? You pop back on? Hey, just like me, I haven't posted in a long time but I just popped out of nowhere.
  18. By looking at this post.. My guess is you need a little more time in the classroom.
  19. Nope, I watch other games, I applaud good plays, but don't root for any other team.
  20. No, it is not preposterous. back in 2002 fans were treated badly just from the normal game stand point.. TO himself mentioned this. Add this issue and how PSU students feel = trouble brewing
  21. it could also be he was in hot water for some reason. Just an opinion, but it would explain why he didn't play at all.
  22. I have not looked at the video yet but it would seem to me you guys are probably looking the the yellow line on the screen... You can't go by that. EDIT: after watching the video it does look like he is over but I can't see the ball placement just the stupid line graphic (which is never 100% spot on) and the ref didn't call it so no big deal
  23. From the living room TV - 1978 NU - OU game
