  1. 2016 Auburn L 51-14 2015 USC L 55-6 2014 Tennessee L 34-19 I know this may be news to some, but Nebraska is not in the Sun Belt.
  2. If you have Peyton Manning, that's fine. If you're offense is efficient enough, that's a great way to go. It's hard to routinely go the length of the field grinding out plays. A lot can go wrong and thwart a drive. I didnt see that kind of defense today. I saw one that was very exploitable, and if anything, Ark St was too stubborn to exploit it. So much talk of those screens they ran, but if they had something to go off of that, like good offenses do, they win going away.
  3. I said that during the tunnel walk. It just didnt feel like the excitement you'd expect from game 1 of a new season.
  4. It's not that this was scary. I didnt feel until the final minute that there was a chance to lose, and am pretty suprised that was really an option at the end. It's deeply concerning that this is year 3 of a coach that followed a perennial 9 win program and there remain so many basic mistakes on basic plays. Our offense feels like something out of the 70s. Our coach didnt even make the field on time. We played a base defense that fundamentally doesn't work against the formations we saw and the formations we knew we would see. This is a program that has as good of a support system as any in the country and we routinely seem ill prepared.
  5. Really worried about either of those based on the fronts used today. Arkansas St never really figured that out. They didnt really try. Frankly, I was not impressed with their offense.
  6. Too true. Bryant reminded me of some of the Abdullah years. Not in style or anything like that, but in how bad the blocking was and how much he had to do to generate production. I like Bryant. Dont see an elite type back. Hard worker though. He'll need to be.
  7. Whose staff is in year 3. It should be the indicative year.
  8. Lee has been extremely impressive to me tonight. A few plays where his footwork was off, but in general he's been fabulous at going through his progressions, setting his feet and making very accurate throws. I think they can expand the playbook a lot more than they have, the question is if the offensive line will allow it.
  9. Against a rather poor opponent, tbh. Ark St may get it together later in the season, but they've spent most of the evening making silly mistakes and completely failing to take advantage of what Nebraska is presenting. The Big Ten, even the bottom half, looks to be far, far ahead of where Ark St is tonight. A long way to go.
  10. As bad as both teams have played, maybe they don't know.
  11. Connor Cook was not a first rounder. Though he could still be sentenced to purgatory by being a very high second rounder. EDIT: Connor Cook clears the first three rounds of drafting.
  12. Henry is a big favorite right now, and it would be surprising for him to lose. Two things to note: Alabama is an ok team in a pretty poor year. I don't have any big problem with their top 4 status, but I recognize this isn't one of their better teams of late. They do one thing really well, and that is their truly elite level rush defense. They can simply take you out of any idea you may have had of rushing the ball. That covers up a lot of holes, but most significantly, it means they are usually ahead in games. Alabama has had the opportunity to feature Henry as much as they want in meaningful action. Secondly, and in particular respect to teams like Clemson and Stanford, Alabama is on prime television a lot. Good time slots, good networks, and many eye balls. Stanford had 7 games start later than 7 pm pacific time! Tough to win voters if they're asleep.
  13. I think, by overvaluing Clemson and MSU, that they got the two worst potential opening round matchups.
