  1. So the message is, we should drive over the pedestrian, but slow down while we do so?
  2. That is very unusual. I haven't seen other fans talk like that... it is sort of dishonorable to your team to talk like that. I don't understand it.
  3. Do you guys in Nebraska prefer chain pizza places or are your local pizza spots better?
  4. Most of the Italian restaurants in NYC are owned/controlled by the Albanian mafia.
  5. It's a shame, because more things do need to be done in regards to environmental protection and conservation, but the environmentalist movement has concerned itself with lofty and irrelevant political goals. If you do some research into the New York Aqueduct, for example, our neglect of our environmental infrastructure is going to play itself out in a scary future for my beloved city. But it isn't a sexy topic because water is something we take for granted, it would cost a lot of money, and nobody wants to raise and spend this money on their watch. Meanwhile, environmentalists are trying to get India and China to stop burning coal.. Which isn't going to happen. Might as well focus attention to regional problems here in the States.
  6. Virginia Tech is 1-25 all time against top 5 teams. The worst is that Boise State will go through a weak conference and avoid injury and get plenty of rest by playing the likes of LA Tech, and people will still want them in the title game. Meanwhile, Virginia Tech goes like 8-3. If Ohio State played Miami and then went through the MAC, people would be in an uproar, but that's exactly what people are defending about Boise State.
  7. 9/4 = The revenge of the FCS?
  8. Yeah. I started watching right before the last touchdown of regulation. What a way to end the game in double OT!
  9. PLEASE TELL ME YOU GUYS SAW THAT! HOLY COW! UPSET OF THE SEASON! :w00t :w00t
  10. The ball boy was a five star recruit in 2008 who lost his scholarship.
  11. Florida has 19 yards total yards. THEY HAVE MORE POINTS THAN YARDS. 21-9, not over yet.
  12. I did not understand where that article was going. He was all over the place. His point was that Nebraska brings in money? So what? That Big Ten is a brand name and not an accurate statement of inventory? What a dolt.
  13. If just by current teams on the field, the Jets: - Best defense in NFL - Anemic offense with question mark at QB - Solid running backs - High profile CB But the franchise as a whole, obviously not.
  14. Nas' "New York State of Mind" > Jay Z's "Empire State of Mind" This song fails because of angry white guy singing and 14-year-old-boy singing chorus.
  15. That polar bear video... What the hell do they have against Miami of Ohio?
  16. Iowa fans generally have a good reputation, much like Nebraska fans. It's a very natural rivalry too, with the large population centers of each state being so close to each other. It will definitely be interesting to see it develop. I think every fan base is horribly rude on rivals.com for some reason though, so I wouldn't take the Hawkeyes there to heart.
  17. The first game of the rivalry was played in 1897 and the Buckeyes did not win a single game until 1919. In 1902, the Buckeyes lost 86-0. The worst part of this game is that it was called in the third quarter because the referees did not want to continue the game. On the way home to Columbus after this game, Carmen Ohio was composed, which is the alma mater of the school. This is a very emotionally enduring rivalry. The worst calls up the best.
  18. Excellent! This could be a full blown viral marketing campaign, but I don't think that's UNL's style.
  19. Which they aren't. The upside is that 2013-14, it is going to be an easy schedule with the absence of Ohio State and Wisconsin.
  20. Ohio State in 2011: @ Miami (FL)[OOC] Michigan State @ Nebraska @Illinois Wisconsin Indiana @ Purdue Penn State @ M*ch*gan Colorado is also supposed to be an OOC opponent in 2011 too.
  21. You didn't even care about this rivalry until you got accepted to OSU within the past year, so don't bother lecturing us on what we do or don't "get." I think about half the people you're currently talking to were watching the Michigan/OSU game before you were born. It's great that you're immersing yourself in the culture of your school, but let's not go crazy here. You have less knowledge of the importance of this rivalry than a lot of folks. Also not true. I am very familiar with the culture of the rivalry through my grandfather who was crazy about the Buckeyes. I wasn't previously a fanatic myself, but I followed the Buckeyes as they are considered my family's team and understand how people feel about it and what it means to Buckeye fans.
  22. It wouldn't be right. Some fans would have liked it, but I think that you put it all out on the field once, and whoever wins that game is the superior team. After that, let the pollsters sort it out. 1) It is better than nothing that they decided to keep it (allegedly) at the end of the season. 2) It will suck if there are two games. It isn't the culture of this rivalry. Some rivalries if may have worked, like Nebraska and Oklahoma. I am not totally familiar with the traditions of that Rivalry, but UM-OSU is a strictly once a year tradition, like a religious holiday almost. 3) Not really. It is obviously better if you win the Big Ten, so that means the previous game is probably going to be of diminished importance, which is disheartening. 4) Sometimes, because of how Thanksgiving falls, it is on the fourth Saturday (like this year), but the majority are on the third Saturday. The specific weekend isn't as important, but it should be the last regular season game in late November, where it is the weekend before or after isn't as important (it is the third Saturday when possible). 5)I don't really understand this question. The match up is considered by most to be the best rivalry in sports on this continent. I don't think that matters much to fans of other teams though.
  23. Next, assuming Michigan does get back to being a top 10 team(probably will, look at us), wouldn't it be great to be able to avenge a loss if both teams were undefeated when the meet the end of November? No. That is the worst. It is The Game, singular. Not The Game(s). It is once a year at the same time every year. It is what makes the rivalry special and part of the fabric and traditions of the region. Two games would cheapen the rivalry. This isn't a rivalry of the dress rehearsal. It is one shot that each team, each fan base prepares for every year and endures 364 days for. Nebraska fans don't get this though. There is more to this rivalry than simply playing each other on a frequent basis.
