  1. This is some real move the goalposts stuff here. First he is the anti Urban who ruin programs. Now its a bunch of stuff that makes him sound exactly like Urban with still no evidence he ruined anywhere. Also its funny how people act about someone getting fired vs leaving for a better job. Leaving someone on the tarmac fine. Someone turning a program around then going up for a better opportunity equals giving them the finger. As for the marriage stuff get a life dude. As long as both parties are of age and its consensual then I'm staying out of other people's business. As for BoB thats once again irrelevant to this but he seems like a good enough coach. He hasn't won 10 games in a season in cfb let alone 2 P5 schools under recruiting sanctions though so no he doesn't really have even close to the same CFB accomplishments. But they were both OCs on Alabama so sure bring him up. He also hasn't won a NC as an OC there but dont let that stop you.
  2. I wasn't saying he would cuz I have no idea, but I will say that crazier stuff happened even just last year. I think coaches now have a lot more freedom just find wherever fits them and he may just like it more here or want to try it out. Kiffin is a wild guy. Ole Miss also def has a ceiling they have never won more than 10 games in a season. And now that teams can pay players above the table that takes some more steam off their ability to recruit.
  3. You are off on your assessment of Kiffin. He left Tennessee after one year fine if you want to complain about that. He went to USC when they had actual sanctions and won 10 games and the division. As much as people talk about Rhule going into sanctions the ones Kiffin faced at USC were 100x worse. Then served as an OC on a championship team. Then took over and FAU team that had won 3 games for 3 straight years and won 11 games 2 out of the three years he was there. Then took over yet another team ravaged by sanctions who had won 6 games in a season once in the last 4 years and has them as a legit contender in year 3.
  4. Leipold is 153-51 as a coach wtf are you talking about.
  5. I never said Deion didnt have success. You said Deion was a winner and those other coaches weren't. I was just pointing out how silly it is to call someone a winner over a coach that has 6 titles and was the fastest ever to 100 wins.
  6. Deion needs about 6 more championships and around 120 more wins to start to consider him a winner over Leipold lol
  7. Oh no that could be a bad combo. Pair Lane up with someone old and/or boring to prevent them going too wild.
  8. Oh yeah duh thats right, but yeah same point then. He did it with and without. Over the past decade even he is the only one other than the 2019 LSU team that has won that division over Bama and he did it twice.
  9. Also Gus did not have Newton. He was gone before he got there. Chizik had Newton, went undefeated, then went 8-5 then 3-9 and got fired. Malzahn took over after that. I wont defend Mack f#&% that guy
  10. I think he could make a great offense with the type of talent we can easily get here. That championship year he took a future CFL CB at QB and led one of the best offenses in the country in a tough defensive conference and took them one crazy Kelvin Benjamin catch away from a chip. He will def run the ball enough to make some fans happy too.
  11. Yeah I really wasnt trying to speculate on that at all. I think you probably are right though
  12. I just have to say if Trev is making his decision based on what the racist population of fans think then I don't want him making the decision. I'm not saying he is I'm just saying the hypothetical.
  13. Thats a long post to not admit your examples were wrong. The original thread that you replied to was about why Leipold isnt recruiting well yet. And the point was the coaches have to have success then recruit well. Urban Meyer had on field success and then joined a school that was already getting top 10 classes before getting good recruiting rankings. I'm not against us hiring Deion, but he is an outlier. He really is just a crazy recruiter but he is a 1 of 1. Petersen's best class was 15th well into his tenure at Washington after a lot of on field success. Yes you are definitely right that a name like Deion or Urban could come in and get a good class right away, I dont think that works with many other coaches if any. Petersen I dont think kids would know anything about at this point i really doubt he gets much of a bump over anyone else. Adding on another defense of Leipold recruiting, even a championship winning coach with top 5 classes under his belt could not recruit at Kansas.
  14. All of those examples were successful in year 2 and without relying on recruits they brought in. Also only Saban was able to come in and really bump up recruiting. Georgia was already a top 10 recruiting team and Tennessee under Huepel is doing well this year but his first class was even lower than what they had been getting at Tennessee. I dont think starting an argument with how recruiting works vs Mavric is the best idea but feel free to start that if you want lol
  15. Thompson has def been missing a lot of throws but the part that has been annoying more some reason is that he just stands and takes a sack sometimes when he has a big gap to take off. And we saw tonight he clearly has some wheels. He just freezes up. They need to figure out a way to fix that so the defense has to slow down pass rush to contain and/or dedicate some coverage resources to spy him.
  16. Yeah I mean very good point. I'm not saying I'm sold on him as out coach but that energy is good to have around if we can keep him as AHC/WR coach type role. Without having to force it on the new coach obviously
  17. Mickey has been coaching the team for like 5 weeks. Frost's problem was he did that same thing for 5 years and never got over that hump. Close losses are part of rebuilding any team but you have to win at some point. I saw Mickey over encouraging the players after the missed TD to brown. Frost just seemed to check out and seemed miserable when stuff like that happened.
  18. Yeah you know I think there are several options we can go with including Mickey but the way he held the team together today and didn't let the mistakes get to them. I was really impressed. I think we should try hard to keep him around at least in some capacity.
  19. Here is an interesting one. Who would take this coach: 3 years of HC experience, took over an undefeated group of 5 school, and went 12-1, 10-3, then 6-4
  20. It's funny how extra parts of the story are added when it helps your argument.
  21. Frost when hired was higher than Fickell is currently. Why do people constantly want to eliminate nuance and weed out useful information when making a decision?
  22. I actually wouldn't hate Locksley if he gets a good staff. He wouldn't be my first choice, but he can put up points on offense and man can he recruit. If it is someone locked in already I think the two choices that are realistic for us to land this early and that would be home runs for me are Whittingham and Malzahn.
  23. Yeah very good points. I have a hard time evaluating the Frost scheme because everything was such a mess all the time, but were times when it just exploded and even vs good defenses like Michigan last year. I do think the scheme we have this year is much more likely to lead late game drives, even with how poor the running games has been at times. And if it already wasnt obvious before it seems pretty obvious now that Adrian with a better line and not asked to win the game throwing can be a high level college QB.
