  1. As I sit here licking my hawkeye wounds i switched over to watch nebraska and saw another tribute to sam foltz. Dont know a whole lot about the guy but I did know a little. Obviously with another great tribute today from Oregon he must have been a helluva guy. The penalty against fresno state and them denying the penalty was one of the best things I have seen in watching 30 years of college football. Sorry for that loss husker nation but this is the first time in history the play of the year in college football will be a penalty. Good luck this year until we see you in Kinnick.
  2. I haven't posted in quite a while but thought I would chime in tonight. You guys had a rough night tonight I see. As a diehard hawkeye fan it sucks we had such a crappy year and lost to you huskers again (in a sloppy game). But since you are now Big Ten brethren I hope you have a good bowl game and help to make the Big Ten look good. I hope you guys get an SEC team and roll the sh#t out of them.
  3. Whooeee. Guess I know how to get some replies. If some of you dumb(donkey)s took the time to look at any of my previous posts you would see I am anything but a troll. I am glad you guys are in the Big Ten and when you do have success I will cheer as hard as I can in your bowl games--just not in the big ten .I just think some of you should temper your expectations. If you WOULD happen to win the big ten then just dont do an OSU on us please. I think Ohio State has done enough to embarrass the big ten the last 10 years. A lot of the posters here need to relax just a tad. If you had read my previous posts you would have seen I was just prodding and having a good time with y'all. P.S. The here comes trouble photo is wrong on so many levels. but yet so good.
  4. It's time for some real football. Welcome to the Big Ten. And----this isn't 1995. You are not THE Nebraska Cornhuskers--just another team. Ask all the Penn State fans who thought when they came to the Big Ten in 1990 and thought they were the shyt. I will congratulate you when you get that 1st Big 10 chapionship in about 10 years (again--ask Penn State) P.S. Iowa City IS NOT Ames so get used to that
  5. welcome to the big ten--now you don't have to do the silly pay per view for the nonconference games. Last time I went to Omaha for a weekend with my wife I talked with a Husker fan who said some of the nonconference games were pay per view and it blew my mind. Every Hawkeye game since I can remember has been on Directv. But--with Nebraska I'm guessing they'll jack my Directv bill a buck a month (per Big Ten rate hike) so I'm looking for a Husker fan who will reimburse my $12 for the year when I come see my Hawks at Memorial Stadium. All kidding aside it's great to have Nebraska and I'm glad to see you will have to quit paying to watch games. Gouging a fan base because you know they will pay to see a game is not cool.
  6. I wouldn't say Lando. Maybe the tall Ewok. I guess it's better than being the dead Ewok.
  7. If Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri and Baylor are smart they will begin looking right now at their future alternatives. They all got lucky this time with Texas staying. This was going to screw over these universities big time (especially Iowa State who was not rumored to have ANY new home). Maybe now is a good time to start having a plan in place when this happens again instead of standing around and not thinking of the future.
  8. Agreed....just out of curiosity who do you diehard Huskers see as your eventual rival(s)? Someone already posted an article floating UW, U of M and Iowa as possibilities but how do you all see it? That is really hard to say. There are a lot of people that believe Iowa would be the natural "rivalry", but I think I am with the ones that say that rivalries have to be built over time. Don't think you can just pick a team and announce to them that they are now your rivals. Colorado fans constantly did that with us, and we laughed them off, because we didn't feel they had done enough to be a rival. The chemistry of what is a rivalry would be an interesting study. I would start by looking at the Oklahoma-Nebraska games in the days of the Big 8. But there are plenty of other good ones too, including in the Big Ten. It should be fun. I don't think an Iowa/Nebraska is really much of a forced rivalry. Huskers and Hawkeyes have been running smack with each other for years and we rarely even played. Much of Nebraska's population is in the east closer to Iowa rather than to the west with Colorado. If Iowa maintains their program and Nebraska comes back it WILL be THE rivalry.
  9. I agree this is the probable future. Seems like it would have been much easier to replace Nebraska and Colorado with Boise and Utah than have an established Big 12 completely fold and then pray for a Mountain West BCS bid. Texas probably could have kept its grip on the Big 12 since those 2 teams would probably agree to anything to finally be in a BCS conference.
  10. With the Big 12 losing 2 teams (and knowing they were probably losing at least someone a long while ago) I can't help but think of an opportunity that may have been missed. Why not add Utah, Boise State or TCU? Seems to me a golden opportunity for these "BCS busters" to join a top BCS conference and show the country they can compete in a big time league. Boise jumped awfully fast from the WAC to Mountain West--not exactly a monumental leap forward-so they were obviously in the market for a new conference. Now I love underdogs and Utah over Alabama was a huge step forward for a much needed playoff but I also tire of hearing how these teams would be undefeated regardless of their conference. I say add Utah and TCU (Boise would have been better) and keep the Big 12.
  11. http://www.hawkeyenation.com/football/la-cosa-longhorns Good read here. Pay particular attention to the last line. It basically sums up the Big Ten brotherhood.
  12. Tickets at Kinnick follow what seems to be the general response I've read here about Husker tickets. One thing I can say is that for big games it can get pricey. Tickets for the Iowa-OSU night game a couple years ago were going for well over $100. Best bet is waiting til close to kickoff but since everyone knows how well Nebraska travels and the fact Iowa will be the closest Big Ten away game I would be surprised if they would come too cheap.
  13. I have always been a big supporter of the Big Ten schools when they play out of the conference. When I saw Northwestern lose to Auburn last year I honestly felt sick almost like my Hawks had lost. That being said--being from Iowa it's going to be hard to cheer for Nebraska. It will take some time I'm sure but eventually I will be glued to my big screen cheering for the Huskers to beat some media hyped SEC or west coast team.
  14. Somewhere on a forum elsewhere I saw a Husker post about the Thanksgiving tradition that got me excited. He walked through the whole Colorado-Nebraska tradition right down to saying "and out through the tunnels comes the black and gold-except now the black and gold isn't Colorado it's the Iowa Hawkeyes--now that is a Thanksgiving game I want to watch." I agree sir. I agree. I'd love to see my Hawkeyes become a traditional holiday game like that one was.
  15. I don't know what I think about Texas in the new conference. From what I read on all the sports sites it sounds like Texas likes being the "alpha dog." If in fact this report is true Delaney should make em wait it out just to send the message that no one school in the conference is going to be calling the shots. If they feel they are too important to sit back, be patient and go through the proper vetting process then so be it. Let em go to the Pac 10. I for one would be fine only adding Nebraska. I'm not saying I don't want Texas at all--the Big Ten would certainly be a megaconference--but at what price is the question.
