  1. Not only do I think they will do this, but I think that's the whole plan - get them to commit another body to stopping Martinez, then pop the ball over the top to their weak middle and the streaking LB for the score. I wouldn't be surprised to see that play two or three times in the first quarter alone. What do you think we have in our playbook that we could use against K-state that we haven't used yet? What about the option, play action pass out of the option, screen plays. I think we could beat KSU with the plays we've already shown. They're not particularly strong up front, and with only two LBs we can move the ball down the field on them just running up the middle with Rex and Roy. knappy, you and I should watch together, we are seriously on the exact same page! You must be one smart SOB.

What about the option, play action pass out of the option, screen plays. I think you'll see some screens, inside screens, like we used to do with Lucky and BJ. But, I honestly don't see us needing to open up the playbook a lot. I see this game similar to the UW game, VERY similar.
  3. This game reminds me so much of the many games we had from 2003 to 2007 where we had such high hopes and thought we'd be able to play with the elite, only for said team to come in and completely dominate and remind us as to how far we really were to competing and how far off our overall talent level had dropped. KSU's talent level isn't close to ours.
  4. Since Bo doesn't really release depth charts, no, I hadn't heard. Interesting though..... Could we see a set in this game with Lee and TM in the game at the same time? I'm interested to see what we do as we get into this conference season. Watson hasn't done ANYTHING fancy this year, to date. They showed flashes of the playbook in Seattle, but quickly shut it back down when they realized they could run 4 different plays on them and score 60. I'm excited for conference play, I don't think teams will have a clue as to what to prepare for. It's all about being "multiple" right????

I wouldn't be surprised to see that play two or three times in the first quarter alone. The way KSU lines their LB's up, they are just asking to be gashed up the middle. They feel like they have a better shot if they don't let guys get to the edge, because they simply don't have the team speed to catch guys that turn the corner. They move their LB's even with the DE's and wider in most cases, leaving a GAPING hole in the middle of the field. Draws, shovel passes, TE sitting in the zone, even quick slants with a slot receiver should be open all day long. Unless KSU completely changes their scheme from what I've seen this year. They really struggle stopping the run though, we should be able to wear them out and start to impose our will (if Watson lets them).
  6. The glaring difference is that Thomas is their only running threat. We have Martinez, Helu and Burkhead. Central Florida had two 100-yard rushers against KSU last game, and I don't think they'll be able to contain Martinez AND Helu AND Burkhead. KSU's run D is TERRIBLE and they are at their absolute worst when facing a mobile QB. Hell, even the d-bag homer Kevin Keitzman here in KC is saying the same thing, they simply can't figure out mobile QB's.
  7. Surely you can't be serious.... sorry for calling you Shirley.
  8. KSU is the epitomy of a one-dimensional team right now. Coffman is a terrible passer so there is no threat of a passing game. Stack the box with 7-8 guys, put a spy on Thomas and shut their running game down. You force Coffman to pass the ball against arguably the best secondary in the Big 12, maybe in the nation, and you have the makings of a beatdown. From your lips to God's ears. Unfortunately you could substitute NU for KSU and Coffman for TM and make the same point. We do have a better secondary, whether the best in conference or nation is yet to be determined. Both teams are one dimensional and it is likely both will jam the box. Hopefully we sprint out to an Early lead and dash some enthusiasm. If they hang around till late in the game, I doubt we win. Turnovers/our ball security are key. Geesh, I can't wait till kickoff!! Small difference though, we aren't a one player attack. If you gameplan to stop Martinez, Helu/Burkhead will bite you and visa versa. And while Martinez is certainly not the reincarnation of Tom Brady, he has shown the ability to throw a nice ball when needed, on time and on target. KSU's secondary isn't in the same league as ours either, if they stack the box and make us go to the air, I think we can make enough plays that way to make them back out. KSU's run D is pathetic, I think they will HAVE to put everyone in the box to slow us down and I'm not sure that will do it. Guys, KSU just doesn't have enough talent to go 4 quarters with us, not without us killing ourselves. If we take care of the ball and get a few long drives in the first half, we will simply wear them out and blow it open in the 4th.
  9. You nailed it. All UCF did was simply clog the middle and stretch their running plays out. They knew that their LB's were fast enough to run sideline to sideline and keep DT from finding any holes as they stretched it out. I see our D looking similar tomorrow night.
  10. UCF's run defense would probably argue that point, they completely dominated that "best Snyder coached back ever", just sayin'. Wow too good! Why do you even post? Great logic kid. I will lower myself to you, lets base everything off of one game- lets do that- so lets just base everything off of how our team performed against SDSU- So using your logic- the Huskers are just horrible this year. Oh by the way- act like Bill Snyder doesn't think he is the best back he has coached- put it in quotes like Bill Snyder doesn't know anything right- you're so brilliant-kthnxbye no resp plz. Never Sker'd, sorry if I'm bursting your bubble, but you know that that's not really Martinez's facebook page don't you? Alright, whos facebook is it? Did you watch the UCF game? Have you watched many KSU games this year at all?? If so and you take them as a whole, same as if you take our 4 as a whole, this game is a mismatch in every single phase, it simply is. Their OL doesn't matchup to our DL, they don't have the depth either, our LB's can run sideline to sideline, just like UCF did to keep DT's yards WAY down. Our secondary is LIGHT YEARS ahead of their WR's! On the other side of the ball, they can't matchup their DB's on our WR's/TE's, they aren't NEAR talented enough. Their DL is undersized and goes 1 deep across the board, their backups are awful. They have one decent LB, but the D they play, he and the other LB are both out of position for anything that comes up the middle, which is partly why they are one of the worst run D's in the country. I put it in quotes because I was quoting you, that's what you do. By the way, you need to change your user name.
  11. This is yet another reason why I'm not concerned with this game. Our guys, from the coaches down, LOVE these games. They thrive in this environment, always have under Pelini. Bo has always been an "us against the world" guy and it radiates throughout his teams. These guys will come out breathing fire tomorrow night and nobody will mention the SDSU game again. It's National Statement time tomorrow night, the Skers will ROLL in this one, dominating every phase of the game.
  12. Wow, Snyder had some of the best talent in the country? When? Manhattan is a very tough place to recruit to since it's what the size of Kearney? He's raided the JuCo's for years. While he has gotten some decent talent this way, KState has never had some of the best talent in the country. I'd venture to say you can determine whether or not he's a good coach by the amount of assistants that have gone on to be successful head coaches. If this game came without any extra days of preparation, I'd say we were gonna roll KState. However, Snyder typically is pretty good in preparation especially when he has extra time. If we go in there a bit rusty and KState jumps out early to lead by a couple of scores, we'll really see what we have for a team. Really? Bishop, Roberson, Buhle, Morgan, Newman, Sproles, Beisel, Lilja, Lockett, Mcgraw, Leber, Simoneau, I'm sure I'm missing a few, but Snyder's BEST teams were loaded with talent, flat out. This year's team is not even close to those, not even in the same league, sorry.
  13. Another thing that excites me a little about this game is, after watching ksu the past few weeks, their D is set up for HUGE plays up the middle. They move their 2 LB's out wide and basically leave the middle of the field wide open. They want to take the edges away, which is fine, but they get gashed up the middle on draws and RB's out of the backfield running a little veer route, or WRs/TEs coming across and just sitting in the hole. I guess they could adjust this, but it's exactly what they have used so far and especially against UCF and their mobile QB, so I would expect they would keep to this. Maybe this is one reason they are one of the worst run D's in the country. I tried to find some ksu/UCF highlights on youtube, but there aren't any. I normally get more and more nervous as the game approaches, but the more I look at this game, the more comfortable I get.
  14. Very true, but after watching Paul flat out work over Prince in the Spring Game, the kid can make some tough catches, in traffic. However, we really haven't needed to go downfield yet this year. I'm sure we will at some point and he'll make the most of it. Similar to the KU game last year and the Bowl game. The guy can be a MAJOR threat in this offense if he can keep his focus and Martinez can get it within a few feet of him. I expect Niles to have one of his trademark BIG games coming up, just not sure when. One where he'll have 100 yards in special teams with a TD and 80+ yards receiving as well. It's just what he does. I just wish he would do it more often.
  15. Snyder was a great coach when he had some of the best talent in the country and turned that into one whopping conference title. This is the same coach that, with average talent, is a sub .500 coach in the last 4 seasons. The guy took the worst program in the history of college football and made them relevant for about 8 years, when NU/UT/OU were all struggling. Maybe lower his pedestal a little. He's a good coach, or a great coach with NFL talent all over the field. However, he has ONE legit NFL player this year and several borderline D-I players. If we are even CLOSE to being a top 15 team in the country, this game isn't close. If you've watched ksu this year, you can see that they are not even on the same level as NU, as far as speed and talent goes, not even close! There were 1/2 a dozen times last week when watching them vs UCF where their QB hit the corner and if would have been TM, it was 6. They struggle mightily with running QB's and I think they will sell out to take him out of the game and Roy/Rex and the play action passes to Kinne/McNeil(who I think will be huge in this game, our TE's always are against KSU)/Paul/etc will gash them for big yards. We will be able to grind it out and wear them down as the game goes on. Our talent and our depth is SO MUCH better than theirs, it's not even close.
  16. This quote from Bo Pelini is why I have ZERO worries about our D at this point. If you think this guy doesn't know EXACTLY what he's doing and what he has on this D, you are nuts, this guy is the best defensive mind in all of College Football, not to mention he has a hell of a supporting cast, along with some great talent wearing the Scarlet and Cream this year! "I don't get caught up in statistics and that kind of thing," Pelini said. "A lot of it is a process to get where you want to go, and teach your guys lessons along the way. I could really care less about the statistics. I have a pretty good idea where we are run-game wise and what we have to do to handle the run. I think if you look at my track record of how we play, we're a lot different than a lot of people in how we play.
  17. I like the way you guys are coming around! We outclass this team in every single phase of the game. People get a little nervous when they think of the Bucky Bill of old, but come on guys, the talent level at KSU right now is REALLY, REALLY low. Bill didn't win sh*t until he had some of the best players in the league and even then they won, what, one league title? Against an OU team that didn't give 2 sh*ts about playing as they were already locked into the national title game? The ONLY way this game is close is if we play mistake-laden football, that's it. If we take care of the ball and don't get dumb penalties, we will do what we want to ksu! Man, I'm ready to get this farewell tour rolling and drive all over here in KC with a big smile on my face!
  18. The times we've looked flat this year we were up 21-0 & 31-3 at half and I know it's easy to say, but the SDSU game was a total anomaly if you ask me. Bunch of kids/coaches looking forward to the bye week/long weekend. NOBODY was prepared or up at all. I think we'll be fine in this game, again, we matchup VERY well against these guys.
  19. There is no way that the score will be that close K-state is going to be half dead mid way through the 3rd quarter, they don't have good depth and they are 102nd in the country in run defense. Yup, I agree. They have no depth and their starters aren't very good. Again, unless we just puke all over ourselves, their talent level is WAY below ours and I'll put our staff against theirs right now as well. Bill Snyder is a good man and a good coach, but this isn't the mid 90's Snyder. He's in over his head and doesn't have Bishop or Roberson walking on that field any time soon, nor does he have Lockett, Morgan, Newman, Buhle, etc, etc, etc. His team is VERY down on talent and simply can't match up with us for 4 quarters, without us killing ourselves, they just can't. Strange things happen and happen on the road, but Pelini teams on the road are VERY, VERY good! They simply thrive being off of the hatred, they love it!
  20. UCF's run defense would probably argue that point, they completely dominated that "best Snyder coached back ever", just sayin'.
  21. 8. Kansas State (4-0). Bye week to prepare for their Thursday showdown with the Huskers. The Wildcats figure to have a difficult time working their one-dimensional offense against the stingy Nebraska defense. I can’t picture the Wildcats winning this game unless they get a truckload of turnovers or they can somehow sneak Michael Bishop into Carson Coffman’s jersey and get Bishop into the game without anyone noticing that he’s black. And good. Quality stuff, well done, the Bishop thing really made me laugh!
  22. I gotta be honest, when they show that shot of Pelini talking to Alex and they said after the game that Henerey came up to Pelini and told him "I can make it coach" and Pelini gave him the chance, I get a tear in my eye every time. I remember the next day going to the MU/KU game at Arrowhead and telling my mom about it and bawling my eyes out. Any father who can picture their kid in that situation should be able to relate. I've never been happier for a kid in my life, just something that is a once in a lifetime deal! He may hit bigger kicks in the NFL later in life, but as a 20 year old kid, to be able to walk up to your head coach and look him straight in the eye and tell him to give you a chance, then deliver, that's pretty freaking sweet if you ask me. VERY cool Husker moment, for sure!!
  23. I've been looking forward to this game for a few reasons. I generally like Nebraska and have had good experiences with your fans. Also, KSU has beaten my Horns the last two times and their fans are generally scum. Plus they are probably the worst 4-0 team I have ever seen, and that's not an exaggeration. I won't be surprised if they finish 6-6. So I'm looking forward to watching Nebraska lay the wood and expose that Purple Paper Tiger for the one-dimensional mediocrity that they really are. I like your style partner!! UT fans get a bad wrap here and there, but the few times I've been around them, in Lincoln on gamedays, they've been pretty nice overall. Now, granted, they were on the winning side of things both times too! Good to have you around here Archer!
  24. Now we're talking, I even got a good ol' Texas boy on the wagon!! I may be a sunshine pumper at times, but on this one, I'm calling it like I see it. I've watched enough of Pelini's teams in the past and have watched enough of KSU this year to know that they are NOT IN THE SAME LEAGUE as us right now. They simply don't have the horses or the depth it'll take to beat a fired up Husker squad this Thursday. We will enter that sh*t-hole stadium breathing fire and will take the long bus ride home resting peacefully with a 40something - 10something ass kicking STATEMENT!
  25. The only things that you can legitimately point to that go in ksu's favor are intangibles, like Thursday Night Game, ESPN, rowdy 45,000 fans, a coach that was good 10 years ago who is a sub .500 coach his last 4 seasons, etc. The ONLY way we lose this game is by stumbling all over ourselves with dumb turnovers and drive killing penalties. One guy, running behind a below average OL WILL NOT beat us!! I'm ready to get this farewell tour kicked off with a SERIOUS beat down of an old thorn in our side!!! :bigredn:
