  1. Didnt that guy smoke a pipe on the sidelines? He was awesome.
  2. I think the Big12 can be a stable conference again. I know Texas wants to go independent, A&M wants to go to the SEC, Mizzou wants into the Big10. The problem is that one of the big conferences, Big10, SEC, PAC12 would have to expand to 16 teams. I dont want to say that it cant work, but it is a risk. The only time a conference went past 12 teams was when the WAC picked up the left overs of the SWC and a few other schools in 1996 when "the four TX schools" joined the Big 8. The experiment lasted 2 years then the conference split up WAC, MTN, and a few to C-USA. All these power conferences have everything they want, except the PAC12 wants another time zone. Which one is going to risk all that they have been able to build at the risk of going the way of the WAC? I know it is different money, but that makes it more of a risk. I think the Big12 will last. Not happily, but it will last. I am happy for ISU, KSU, KU, MU because their athletic departments would get about 25% of what they currently get without the Big12. NU got the golden ticket everyone of these schools was hoping for. I see no need to further beat them down, I hope they succeed.
  3. one play highlight, just to note Dowling is a Catholic school.
  4. First of all I am not as much of a fan with the move to the Big 10 as it seems my fellow Husker fans are. I see it more as a move that had to happen because of the reasons that Shatel mentions. I will get used to the Big 10, it will take me a few years, and it will take a few years to know how successfull this move is for NU. Secondly, call me sentimental but the NU OU game could be one of the top 5 games played every year. Every series has a down period, but Stoops Pelini would be a classic matchup. The loss of this game on a yearly basis is bad of NU, its bad for OU, its bad for college football. I understand that OU NU was gone when the Big 8 was gone, and that is how it played out. I dont want to blame anyone for it happening, it's just sad.
  5. I had considered Indiana a spread team, not much zone read but almost exclusively out of the pistol. I am hoping to see the staff dig up a JUCO back, but any back would fill a need as I see it.
  6. Is now a soft verbal. Looking to visit Florida, Georgia, and LSU.
  7. This kid is having a hell of a season. All I can find is that he's waiting until the season is over until getting serious about recruiting. He did visit TX in Feb.
  8. Scout has some news on Darien Bryant, but I have no subscription. Little help.
  9. I think it is just a matter of the staff finding someone who can contribute immediately, and with this staff's record when it comes to finding JUCO talent that is enough for me.
  10. I am loving this bad press. It just creates the us against the world, they're all against us mentality that so many football teams have been able to use to their advantage motivationally. There is no easier way to get a team to come together.
  11. I'd absolutely get into the stadium. Even in the nose bleeds you would be able to see that huge screen. That could be a better seat than being in the end zone closer to the field. I dont know much about this party pass you're thinking about, but I went to the game last year and that stadium is awesome.
  12. This seems like good news to me. No gushing about Arizona's greatness. It still seems to be Arizona and Nebraska, I'll take that.
  13. The '09 game was great, and the '01 game also great. However this rivalry was heated in the 70's and 80's. I was too young for the 70's, but some of my first memories of attending games were of NU in the 80's. I was about 11 in '86 it was hard to get tickets, and me and my cousin who was about 25 got tickets in the student section at a night game. NU came out in blood red and the student section was a mess. I still love the blood red.
  14. Finch looked like a better runner, but Murray is better in the passing game both out of the backfield and picking up the blitz. It would be a significant loss if Murray is not able to go.
  15. Kinda makes me feel bad for poor Indiana. I'm over it.
  16. Player Joseph Carter Hometown Aiken, SC JUCO Chaffey CC Position DE Weight 255 Heght 6'5" NR no stars Scholarships: soft verbal Arizona, Nebraska **Thought I'd start this since we are already talking about him** He seems interested.
  17. A wild recruiting weekend. At least things went off well with Peat.
  18. how hard is it for some of these kids to get on a plane hop in a car or whatever... makes you wonder...... come on AP you missed a great game!!!! Just to clarify, I found a article in a Cincinnati paper but some security thing wont allow me to post the link. The paper spoke with his coach. He hadn't planned on taking the visit unlike what scout reported. He still intends to visit NU.
  19. Should make for a fun game. I agree NU's defense is made to stop OU's spread offense, but I'm not sure NU will be able to run the ball consistently against OU's front seven. I'd guess on a low scoring game. I can't help but mention that OU has looked terrible when playing outside the state of Oklahoma. They looked OK at the Cotton Bowl, but other than that they've looked terrible.
  20. Dont think he made it. I understand he's still planning on visiting. That is what his coach is saying.
  21. Boise is hated for having a schedule consisting of "the little sisters of the poor". These words didn't come from the Husker fan base, but I believe these words are shared by many fan bases from coast to coast. "little sisters of the poor" that's really funny. Maybe Ohio St isn't so stuck up.
  22. If a sunny 44 is too much to overcome, then I'd say you had just as well stay home.
  23. That is Gilmore's excuse for always not playing folks. But if you want it more bluntly, IMO, he plays favorites. If you kiss Gilmore's rear-end and he likes you, then you will see snaps. No way I will believe Gilmore is as blind to some of the stuff that goes on in practice, and in games. It either boils down to he is mentally handicapped as to realize what goes on, or he plays favorites. Take your pick. There are a couple of kids, younger guys on the team, who make plays all the time in practice, but never see snaps. Then you have guys like Will Henry and Tim Marlowe who go out on the field and never make one single play. Or a guy like Chris Brooks from last year who made plays consistently when he got on the field, but yet never saw consistent playing time. Or a guy like Curenski, who struggles with concentration, but consistently gets behind defenses to stretch the field because he is that dadgum fast. And Gilmore's constant excuse - they need to excel in other areas. My take - who freakin' cares if they can block or not, even if that was the case. With our lack of playmakers out wide, if we have guys who consistently make plays, put them on the dang field. If there was ever one coach I would get rid of on this staff, it would be Gilmore. And people know how much I dislike Barney, but Gilmore has BY FAR passed him on coaches on my poop list. I agree with Big Willie 100%, and would like to add that Watson needs to take some responsibility for not developing WR's. Wats has been OC for 4 or 5 years now, he has to have some responsibility for the lack of WR development.
  24. It is much easier to be critical of an offensive cord as opposed to a defensive cord. Every one of us can watch a game and say well that play didnt work, while it is much more difficult to say why a deffensive call didnt work. That's the game of football, and offensive coordinators every where get killed when things dont work. Im not sticking up for Wats, but I dont think he's done a bad job either.
