  1. If only we had a HC as good as Pinkel. Oh well..... I agree with TJ Alum that they probably should have bit the bullet and got the kid in, but the Pinkel quote is just funny. Nice.
  2. Where would you have given him more time? He played in the fourth against UTC, played in the fourth against Wyoming and had a whole quarter against Minnesota. We haven't exactly put ourselves in a position this year to get our back ups into games...and you still need to get your starters enough playing time. Generally speaking, teams keep their starters in throughout most of the third quarter even in blowouts. If Martinez and Co. had been able to score touchdowns on our third quarter drives, our backs up could have gotten into the game earlier. Instead, we obviously took our foot off the gas pedal and our players slacked off a little bit, which is frustrating to watch as a fan. I don't care how bad a team is - you want to put up as many points as you can. If you're winning by 30...try and win by 40. Call the dogs off later if that's the case. But when it's the third quarter and you still have your starters in you have to be playing with the intent to score. When you get your back ups in, then call conservatively. Until then it should be high-octane the entire time. You've posted whole quarter three times. He had one series. He then came in and handed off three times as time expired. As Herc noted up a few posts. He didn't get more time because of the third quarter. Had they punched it in early the third he would have had some PT. It didn't happen that way.
  3. Thursday Night Football. Does Jesse Palmer ever shut up. It is rediculous.

    1. Apathy

      Apathy

I rather listen to him than Craig James. James was giving his reason why he had Laundry Jones in his top 3 because he was leading his team to victory lol and then James says "They all are!" James is a moron

  4. I do as well, but 'Joe America' is going to have to drive it. It has only been recently, the past couple of years, that I have started bypassing Chinese goods whenever I have a chance. I still think a lot of people are oblivious to what is really going on in our economy. I will provide a small 'real world' example. I worked for a small parts distributor that mostly dealt in recreational equipment. This was a sole proprietor business that had 5 total employees. Nearly all the products that we sold were American made. We had a gentleman approach us in the early 2000's that had a buddy that was an importer from China. He was based on the east coast. The guy actually came to Nebraska and looked at our inventory. He took some of our bigger selling products with him. In about six months, we were buying the same products from China that we use to get in the states. They were exact copies. I think about one product in particular. We went from being just another distributor of a product that was made in California to the the exclusive US distributor of this product (Made in China) that cost 25% less than anyone out there. At the time I thought it was brilliant. Look at all the money that is to be made this way. I really don't know the specifics of the company in California that we use to purchase this product from. I would assume they employed 10-15 Americans with benefits to produce the product that our industry demanded. I could only assume that there are no longer 10-15 people producing those products anymore. Instead of the revenue generated by that product going to the distributor, manufacturer and the manufacturing employees, it only goes to the distributor. Oh yeah...and China. Multiply this scenario hundreds or thousands of times. Go to ebay and look for auto parts or household goods. It's all junk an we eat it up. There is no such thing a free trade. Thousands of people with a short term perspective have sold our country out. We need to slap a huge tariff on Chinese(or whatever other third world country) goods. The usual response is...oh, well they will call our debt. So what is my response to that.
  5. I think it's pretty simple and I'm sure I'll get picked apart. We have lost manufacturing in America. Is there more in depth analysis...absolutely, but it all starts there. There are a ton of solid reason why and they range from Unions, corporate profits, people wanting to spend $1 less at Walmart, government regulations, unfree trade to the entitlement building in the american culture. I could go on and on.
  6. Have you actually paid attention to the tea party? Have you seen how they act? Listened to the things they say? Watched any Republican debates lately? The bullsh#t they've been pulling in Congress? They've been a rather destructive force. Get back to me when the crazy level of the movement gets anywhere near teaparty territory. And also explain how it's useful as a litmus test when the majority support the movement. You're being played. Keep fighting the good fight. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1011/66412.html
  7. http://www.washingto...LPoL_story.html Pre-emptive strike on teajadists. The Koch Brothers make Randolph and Mortimer look like a couple of loveable, harmless grandfather-types. It is unfortunate that you have chosen to make light of a movement that is involved in a good percentage of the conflicts around the world. This Holy War that is often characterized as Convert or Die. The Koch Brothers are amateurs compared to Soros. I don't have any movie from the 80's to compare him to. http://www.forbes.com/forbes-400/list/ hmmmm . . . His post said that the Koch Brothers made Randolph and Motimer look lovable. He did not call out worth, nor did I.

  9. Bad parents You can't just blame the parents. There are many other external and internal factors that contribute to kids not performing well in school. To just blame the parents is ignorant To blame them 100 percent would be ignorant. I will argue that it is the single biggest factor contributing to a child's success.
  10. The problem is, as employers continue to reduce staffs and minimize costs, it seems like it has become easier to cave than go through the judicial process. Every employer that I have had wants to avoid a lawsuit at all cost regardless of whether or not we are in the right. I'm sure this UNK deal will end in some kind of settlement.
  11. I'm not trying to be the moral police, but I think this story is kind of sad. http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/video/couple-porn-make-ends-meet-14734523?tab=9482931&section=4765066
  12. Bo was brought in here because the fans weren't happy and parts of the stadium were starting to get a little thin fairly early in the game. That was obviously the result of a poor football team. I think the 'Booos' lack class in most situations, but Bo needs to worry about one thing.......Coaching Football.
  13. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/26/washington/26rights.html?_r=1&ref=us&pagewanted=print&oref=slogin I'm not saying it isn't true, but I have a hard time believing that any American business did anything but minimize damage when it came this. Statements like this drive me nuts. It's no different than 'Forced Diversity'. If you are not hiring someone because they are in a wheel chair or a non Caucasian race, then you are an idiot and you should be fired. I would say more often than not these rules are used for lawsuits. It's funny that you bring up a cold. Something that has recently come up is a version of FMLA that has been labeled as 'Intermittent'. The version allows you to miss a day here and there instead of a block, say a month, or time. Basically, a Dr. can write you a note saying that you will periodically miss work over an extended time period, usually 6 months. Since FMLA allows you to miss up to 2 months out of the entire year, can you imagine how disruptive it is to let people just come and go as they please? Because FMLA is a law, some employees count every single absence as FMLA. The can miss 60 days in a year a guess what.....they have the same attendance as the guy/gal that didn't miss any work in 275 work days. I wish people could understand that some Doctors will write a note for anything. It's yet another thing that makes American business less competitive as I must keep a larger than necessary workforce to cover such blatantly poor attendance. That translates into higher product/service costs. You then put an entire organization on the hook because of a handful of people that are working the system. Unfortunately, I see the UNK issue as something similar. I am familiar with UNK from a previous life and my guess is they are talking about the university apartments that are adjacent to the campus on the NW side. You can't let people start making their own rules. It sets a terrible precedent and ultimately brings the system down. Moving away and going to college is difficult for many kids for a lot of different reasons. This girl and her family need to show some accountability.

  15. How about just pay the taxes they are supposed to. It really isn't a partisan thing. I understand this type of crap has been going on literally forever. My point is, the current administration is either appointing or forcing the opinion down our throat the rich need to pay more taxes. This may/may not be true. The problem is, the people they have used so blatantly for their propanda can't even follow the current tax rules. I think people are so blind with 'rich' envy that they are missing what is going on here. Washington is for sale (always has been) and that is what needs to stop. We need to stop the UNfree trade and start collecting some corporate taxes.
  16. The slippery slope argument generally results from laziness. The goat and fish straw men are noted. Overly dramatic..yes. Laziness..no. Where does it stop? Once you open the door how do you close it? When did life become a disorder? A slippery slope is exactly what it is. I have 40 employees and I will tell you one thing that is a fact....................you can get a Dr's note for ANYTHING that says you are unable to do this or that. If you can't get the note, you get a different doctor. The way the FMLA system works, bad diarrhea is no different than a heart transplant. I imagine that wasn't the intention, but the door has been opened and it now is what it is.

  21. This will end up opening up a can of worms like all other erroneous lawsuits. Pretty soon a kid will need to bring his goat because he can't get laid. Another will have to have his fish to eat away toe fungus. At what point could the line possibly be drawn? This child's parents failed her. She obviously has issues and shouldn't be moving three hours away from home. Instead of confronting those issues, her mother has decided to blame the university instead of telling her kid 'Maybe this isn't the right fit for you'. Don't worry about it. A new excuse to raise costs at a University......Carpet replacement and bug bombing in pet friendly student housing. Only in America! http://journalstar.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/article_2ffe4d32-c27a-5bf7-a076-982affa7d9af.html
  22. I just can't believe how the Republicans continue to trash(debate) eachother over and over again with the national spotlight on. Anderson Cooper is the next moderator? Seriously? When is Keith Obermann coming aboard? It's like trying to commit suicide with a toothpick. Yeah, you'll get it done eventually.
