  1. Yeah GNF, that has suprised me as well. I thought we would have a deluge of upper tier D linemen just salivating for a chance to get the Suh treatment. I like Ankrah's upside, don't profess to know much about Williams, and feel very comfortable with Meredith. But that is a high attrition position. Meredith has already gotten dinged up this year. I feel great about this recruiting class and don't want to be the perpetually unsatisfied fan, but we definitely need to land a couple of high quality recruits at the D Line and LB positions. I'm just shocked that the Pelini defensive reputation hasn't borne more fruit. Yet. It ain't Febuary, after all.
  2. For some reason I'm tempted to take Navy at -13 1/2 over Duke......but I'll go with Northwestern at -3 over Gene Hackman's Indiana Hoosiers.
  3. Wait, so we get some crummy candy and they get filets? Weak sauce.
  4. This is the most exciting aspect of this class for me, even with the strong QB commits. You have to win in the trenches if you're hunting for titles. This seems like the kind of class (offensively, at least) that can help make that goal a reality for us.
  5. It took like three minutes for my screen to refresh last night, and then this was the first thing that I saw. I totally bought it. Thanks a lot, man.
  6. Nice sig, Tim. Thanks for beating out a path to the door for us. Sorry you didn't get a key.
  7. Can we just move onto the Big 10 now? Not until we have their championship trophy. I've seen where "impartial" observers have stated that the Martin play was clearly an egregious foul and worse, a malicious hit with intent to injure. I'm not sure how capable I am of being objective, but I strongly disagree with the assertion that this play was exceptionally violent in contrast to what is deemed acceptable play elsewhere. Anybody seen a kickoff during an SEC game recently? (I really do try to be objective btw, but the game of football seems to bring out the subjective/emotional perspective in almost all of us at times.) So I wish to ask with apologies if this has been addressed and I simply missed it: How many Big 12 players outside of Martin have been suspended for supposed on-field violations this year? This is a real question, I'm not asking facetiously. If Martin is the only one I'm sure there is a great reason for it. :Sardonic Grimace The flip side to this is that it presents an almost picture perfect opportunity to rally the warriors. If there was ever a more complete scenario of "us against the world" in college football, I'm not recalling it effortlessly. Much ado has been made recently about our ability to wade into hostile territory with blood lust, and our (supposed) inability to win within the friendly confines of Memorial Stadium. Well, this action seems to declare without any dispute that we ARE in hostile territory, even in Lincoln. While we're playing in the Big 12 -2 conference that is. Mr. Beebe may have just out thought himself. I can't say I blame him. He has to be preoccupied with concerns about what island to dig on for the pirate treasure chest that will fulfill his asinine economic pledges to his remaining, shivering wards north of Norman. +1 for taking their trophy on our way out the door.
  8. So you rank Boise last because of their 69th ranked schedule (Sagarin) but no mention of Utah's 113th ranked schedule? What about Michigan State's schedule, which is almost identical (65th)? Or Oregon's (59th)? Oregon has only played one team that's worth a damn. Fair point. I lumped TCU, Utah, and Boise together, and I basically ranked them by how much I personally like them, which is not what the poll question was asking. I took it as an oppurtunity to rail against Boise, and it was only after I posted my rankings 1-7 that I realized that I actually didn't even vote for Boise State on your poll. I voted for Utah. Soooo....I guess I take umbrage with my rankings, too. But who cares? We got AG!
  9. I think the end result of this thread, for me, has been summed up by knapplc and Enhance89. I want to know how good Boise is, and I don't get to find out this year. A playoff would solve that predicament for me.
  10. Well put. Upon further reflection, one might be inclined to conclude that it would be insane to put Boise at #7 Being able to steamroll through your conference schedule using just a basic offensive set still agitates me, though. And the field. I don't like the blue field. Even though there is no question that the blue field has been of great benefit to them, it is the lone lingering aspect of Boise that can be legitimately pointed to as gimmicky in nature.
  11. I would have loved to have seen that too, mostly because I guess Boise State is kind of an enigma to me. I can't deny that they beat Oregon fairly soundly last year. The VT game was basically an away game for them and they won that convincingly, too. There are worse teams than Oregon State out there, so that is a quality win. I am reluctant to embrace Boise State, and I guess that pretty much all stems from disdain for their conference slate. (Of course, we have been located in the B12 North for 16 years now...)
  12. At this point I wouldn't care if he stated that he was forgoing college altogether to embark on a career as a hammer salesman. I just want it over with! (I would actually care, though. Don't do it kid...Lowe's has the market cornered!)
  13. "Just how many cities we talkin' here, Mr. Dickens?" "Two."
  14. Yeah, those situations are not mirror images of each other fro, I agree with you there. For what it's worth, I don't think Mizzou will have a letdown this Saturday. I feel like both teams are going to rage onto the field with all the sharpness of a diamond knife. This Midwestern battle seethes...true acrimony and vitriol have flowed back and forth, and really, that is what makes a true rival. I really believe this is going to be one for the ages. I like our chances. Your team scares me. It's going to be a great game. It's a shame it's all coming to an end after this. I will truly miss Missouri week.
  15. Those are all really solid reasons. I could have made a list like that before the Texas game though, and yet...
  16. Yeah, I know. It's punishment for something they can't control, namely, V Tech turned out to be an average team this year. They could beat all six of those teams ahead of them on my list. But you can't just waltz through a ridiculously weak conference schedule and feel like you're as entitled to play for a championship as teams that have actually had to play competetive games for the last 2 months of the season. Is Boise State a more talented football team than some of those teams though, knapplc? Ummmm....yeah. Probably. Screw 'em though. I'm leaving them at seventh.
  17. I just can't give Boise a pass on their schedule. I've seen them play and they are a proficient, well coached team. Kellen Moore is better than solid, he is a flat out good quarterback. And they have some other athletes, too. But they played Lousiana Tech last night. In a conference game. I will never be able to get past that fact. (That and the fact that VT lost to one of our founding fathers. I mean, that's one guy. Who has been dead for over 150 years. Plus Oregon State is like...Illinois? Some middling team like that.) So I have no idea how good Boise really is, and they aren't going to play anybody that will help clarify that in my mind. That, coupled with the fact that nobody knows you as intricately as your conference foes and Boise State and TCU and Utah's conference foes are laughably weak, leaves me no choice but to delicately suggest to Boise and Ute/Frog supporters that they can go fly kites. Especially Bronco fans. (Best to Worst) 1.)Oregon 2.)Auburn 3.)Michigan State 4.)Mizzou 5.)TCU 6.)Utah 7.)Boise State
  18. Ack. Not what I wanted to read this morning. Dread mode: Activated.
  19. Quality stuff, Nexus! And I really liked the Ballad of Spider John action Red. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tY5x8pF512k
  20. The Bo Pelini show is on Fox Sports right now for anyone interested (12:00-1:00 PM CT)

  21. I honestly am not a big fan of the morning guys on 1620. Seems like a lot of schticky stuff that doesn't land for me. I prefer the afternoon guys, with the amazing horses and all. I have noticed that they refer to Nick Bahe as a "former Creighton standout." I refer to him as "the guy who doesn't seem to know a whole lot about football." Oh well. Probably just jealous 'cause I covet their jobs.
  22. NU vs OK ST on ESPNU right now, for anyone interested. (11:00 - 1:00 AM CT)
